Should Kung Lao's weapon in MKA be his actual hat or his broadsword?
i would say it is more likely for hit hat to be made into a style as there are many styles needed for the amount of chars in MKA, and the broadsword could be used for another player.
Thaughts?

I would rather him have no weapon and two fighting styles. The broadsword is unoriginal and in my opinion it does not suit him, the hat would be an interesting weapon but it would be completely unrealistic.
I would rather him have shaolin fist and praying mantis both very good fighting styles that i also appreciate a lot. I sincerely think that a weapon style is unnecessary in his case.

I know but some characters a certain image that has them set more into reality and kung lao is one of them and using his hat as a weapon would ruin it.

And it will probably forever be but that doesn't mean he has to use it as a weapon as long as it is a part of his special moves i don't think he should use it as a weapon.

his weopon would be great as a hat, but i think that since the hat is not as big, to use it you must be VERY close to your opponent.

maybe there would be weapon moves which onvolded throwing motions of his hat.
i see him having Shaolin Fist, and his weapon (HAT hopefully)
mantis should stay with jinko

Hat
That is his trademark weapon and it would only suit him the best.

I have a feeling that it will be his hat.........
You know, when you are doing a fatality in MK:A, and you want to do a fatality with a weopon ( for example sektor's pulse blade etc), it involves by changing that hand to hand style ( i think), then you so a hat decapitation, Vertical Slice!! etc etc)

I think a cool thing to do to kung lao's hat would be something like Ivy's soul calibur Ivy Blade.
&
I would have it where it unravels into a snake sword. The metal trim around the hat.
Just a thought and it might look cool.
Heres a preview of how the trim would look after the metal detached or un-coiled from the hat or something.

Very interesting point but i would rather see him use his fists and kicks against his enemies in some powerful blow and just kick his enemy into the air and decapitate him as a great finale with a hat throw. But you idea is indeed very intriguing.

Use his hat. His hat is awesome. If you must use the broadsword, incorporate the hat into his special attacks.

I think he should be similar to Nightwolf. Nightwolfs weapons are the tomahawks but he can fire Arrow projectiles as special moves. I think that Kung Lao should be able to use is hat only in special moves and not as a Weapon Style. If it is used as a projictle i would like to see it go forward then come back 5 or 6 seconds later so this would keep the oppenent on their guard.

Exactly what I’m saying. The MK2 style hat throw is my favourite all-time MK move, but still I don't think using the hat as a weapon is a good idea, it is pretty slick but I would rather him prove his skill of martial arts further rather than being cooler.

I would personally like Kung Lao to use Bei Tanglangquan (Northern Preying Mantis Fist) which he used in MKDA (though I'm not sure which one) and Shaolin Changquan (Shaolin Long Fist), which I think he used in MKDA as well. Shujinko, imo, should use Pai Mei Quan (White Eyebrow Fist) and Dan Tien Dao (Dan Tien Saber/Broadsword).
However, the secondary option would be to give Shaolin Fist and Broadsword to Kung Lao while Shujinko has Mantis and Dan Tien Dao.

I was also thinking, that kung lao's blade around the hat is pretty thick.
So what could also be a possibitly is that it de fringes from the hat pixel by pixel and when u whip it, it then entangles you kinda like a room full of wires.
Kinda like a web of wires if you catch my drift.
But every outlined pixel would consist of a defringed wire.
------------
I also had a crazy idea where kung lao could use the hat blade as a layerd frisby.
It could duplicate into layers of rings that way he could throw em like frisby shurikens.
Here's a example i did with Photoshop.

Good stuff, bro.
Perhaps if he used the hat, it'd need to be self moving like in MKSM. Or he can hold it for some attacks and it can move by itself for others.
If not, then I would go with the broadsword or some other decent weapon.
