Yeah, this dude's got a point.
If I was some kind of public enemy #1, I'd be pissed to see myself being aggressed in a video game too. (Good thing I'm not.) But if I know it was unintentional, and was just a joke by a edit mode proficient player, then I'd relieve myself and would even take it for a joke.

But back to the "Jack's a bitch" point. I do agree he really is a bitch. Actually, all these fake moralists are. They think they're doing a good to society by banning these kind of games, "because they exert a bad influence over the behavior of our children", blah-blah-vlah, yada-yada, same old bullshit. But:

1. They forgot that freedom of expression is ensured by the American constitution, so anyone can make a violent game as they damn well please.

2. Say, if investigators found movie DVDs instead of videogames on the house of every teenage manslaughter. Then they'd make a crusade against the film industry, right? Because it was the movie that "exerted the bad influence" and you know the drill.

3. Now about the whole influence thing, it's something that comes not only from the individual, but from the whole environment that surrounds him. Family, neighborhood, school and so on. Videogames are in no way restricted to one or other person, but open to everyone's use. So, you can only say it influences if the person has a really, really weak mind and wasn't taught properly by parents on how to tell real from fictional.

At least, that's what I think.
I play MK since the age of 8, as far as I remember. Now I'm 19 and it didn't make me a homicidal.
Playing Burnout 3 and Twisted Metal: Black never made me a reckless driver. Or even playing GTA that, in addition, never gave me the thrill of assaulting anyone in the street just to take their car away.
Playing Final Fight and Streets of Rage doesn't make me, in any way, feel like going out and spanking to death every street punk that crosses my path. (actually, here in Brazil, it's more likely that they put a bullet in my liver before I can even move my hand)

But why is that?
Because I learned from my family to tell real from virtual. I have understanding that what's done in video games, is to be done just in videogames. It's a thing that assholes like Jack Thompson seem not to understand. And then he hates to be dissed by gamers. If he was here right now, I'd have only three words for him: "GET A GRIP".

It's men like this that give conservative christians a bad, terrible name. A money hungry prideful christian? Sure Jack, sure....
This has gone far beyond "protecting the innocent public from obscenity and violence". This case, and other cases like it (did you read the story concerning Janet Reno and how she "battered" him..?) are simply cases of an ignorant, small, and rather unimportant man trying to use his power to get what he wants. Period.
People have tried to open reasonable dialogue up with him, and he refused. Often refusing in ways that would make an obnoxious 2 year old envious of such obnoxious behavior.
Seeing his history, I can honestly say that some (very few) of his cases I can almost agree on. ALMOST. The vast majority of them though have been nothing short of the personal vendettas of a sue-happy, money-hungry lawyer. It's these types of lawyers that create the sue-happy, money hungry stereotype that lawyers have today, and it's these lawyers I simply cannot stand.

This is low. It's not the game, it's the person that plays it. He should know that those maniacs that played the games and went on a manslaughter didn't know fact from fiction. I have three words for him: Get a life.

Jack Thompson must be too ignorant to realize that his appearance in the KAF mode is completely coincedental. When a movie is done and the credits roll there is a message indicating that All characters names looks and settings are completely fictitous anyone sharing the same name is completely coincedental I think for further distribution just to keep Thompson quiet they should put some sort of message indicating that it's coincedental. There is a million different combinations for KAF mode for example someone could create George W. Bush and have him receive fatality after fatality and do you think the president would take time to tell midway to discontinue MKA? I highly doubt it. Thompson is upset because his case against Bully is going in Rockstar's favor.Thompson figures Mortal Kombat has had controversy in the past he figures he could gain supporters but he couldn't use just the violence in the game he needed something more to push the envelope further so knowing him he probably rented the game and created himself just use that as another reason to start a conflict with Midway games. Jack Thompson's battle with MKA is benefitting Midway if you stop to think about it he's bringing back the contraversy it used to have that created a large fanbase which has unfortunately plummeted throughout the years. Midway sales are now going to sky rocket because think about the GTA contreversy people wanted it off the shelves,wanted things edited etc. but that just made the product more popular and everyone had to have it so he's benefitting Midway but he thinks he's on the opposing side when really the ball is in Midway's court. Messing with Ed Boon is a mistake because if you remember the fatality was incredibly offensive to parents and whatnot so in MKII Midway came up with the friendship to insult them without having to mention any names now I'm sure Midway would rather retaliate then give in to Thompson's demands. They could create an intro character named Tack Jhompson and have Scorpion spear his head off in the intro to a future game. The way I see it is Thompson is trying to be like George W. Bush,Bush was losing supporters for the war on terror so he had to come up with a new reason to keep supporters,Thompson's war on Bully is losing supporters so he decides to go after MKA to gain supporters but little does he know the more he takes shots at MK the more people are going to want it even more so now MK will have more marketability with MK however MKA should bring up some message say that it's coincedental just to shut him up and to make it open and shut there's no way he can beat them anyway so Midway wins uninanimously

Maybe you should redirect that comment to Thompson himself. If you know anything about the man, you know he flings insults more than anyone else. He takes a grade school approach to everything.
