Friendships were always a great addition, and I think it's time to bring them back.
Dark and gritty seems to be the mark everyone's aiming for, but I don't necessarily think Friendships would adulterate that. Reason being is that they don't really effect the story, and they're completely optional..
Also, they're kind of interesting. Each friendship was sort of a small satire of each character.
If you feel friendships threaten the dark mood of MKvsDC, then you'll always have the option of not performing them. The only counterargument I can see to implementing Friendships is the time it would take to design the concepts and program each of them. That time to could be used to modify [insert any flawed aspect of past three games].
Babalities lose appeal after the first time their executed, so we need not bring those back. Also, they reveal nothing unique about individual character who executes them.

Friendship? It's not gonna happen if there are no Fatalities. If there are no Fatalities, then there is no time to input the command for a Friendship.

I figured those were some sort of gameplay thing like how SF has Super Arts (or whatever they are called)
God, I hope that I'm wrong

I liked friendships......BUT NOT IN THIS GAME.
It would be a very very very very bad idea. The last thing this game needs is this sort of "sweet" stuff.
Lets just aim for the dark and gory (the essence)! Now, if we HAVE fatalities, then friendships can be justified.
