I know everyone is going to complain, but we HAVE to ask about SUs at Fight Night. Like Ejekt said, we need to ask a clear, specific question, such as "Are there more than 24 playable characters in arcade mode?" or something like that. I think the majority of the people here want to know, and we need to know if we are searching in vain or not. And don't give me that BS about Boon not leaking secrets; we'd just be asking if there are any in the first place. For all you people who irrationally don't believe in SUs, you always complain about these boards being littered with SU posts, well if Boon said no wouldn't it put an end to all that? And if he says yes, we can finally show all you unbelievers how wrong you really are... We NEED to ask about the SUs at Fight Night. Also, since many people do not have IRC (including myself) I really hope there will be a transcript of the event posted.

Do you really think though that even if you ask them a specific question about super unlockables they'll give a straight answer? At most, absolute most, they'll say there are super unlockables and maybe tell you what one of them is. That's on a good day. Even so, there is no, I mean 0 chance they'll say how to actually unlock them. It's just not going to happen. They'll play us like a fiddle if they're asked those kinds of questions. Boon has admitted that he loves seeing people go crazy. Not in those words but he likes the fact that people spend time searching for things and create their own ideas of what's really there. It's been part of MK ever since Reptile spoke that spooky language in MK1.

I know that, that's why I never said we should ask exactly how to unlock the SUs. I said we need to find out if there are any or not. That's why I even said: "And don't give me that BS about Boon not leaking secrets; we'd just be asking if there are any in the first place." I know he would never reveal how to get them. Even if he gives a vague answer we will have an idea if they exist.

That's fine. I just don't want to see people get their hopes up like Ed Boon is going to tell them exactly what to do. Finding secrets has and always will be up to the players. But it would relieve some of the tension on the boards if he did at least say there are or aren't any.

2 Things could be going on...

All these interesting lines and items are on the Disc...that mostly we haven't heard before or have though-provocative qualities.

The Ninja Star - "This throwing star might be useful someday"

Raiden's Staff -" Excellent. I see he gave you Raiden's thunder staff. You must use it to strike back at Shao Khan and take from him what he took from us...."

Ring inside fish - "It is said that many years ago, a fish caught on this shore was found to contain a jeweled ring"

"Kitana wishes to test your Edenian training
Will you show her all that you have learned?"

"Frost claims that she is the greatest Lin Kuei warrior
Will you prove her wrong?"

"Mokap does not appreciate what you said about him! Will you defend yourself?"

"You dare oppose the will of Quan Chi?"(Though You could fight him already during the quest mode, remember?)

1. What do you with the Ninja Star?
2. You can't fight shao Khan, so what's that line about using Raiden's Staff to defeat Shao Khan really mean?
3. Can you fight Kitana, Frost, Mokap, Drahmin or play as those characters?
4. Why the Fisherman give you like 10 lines trying to sell you fish, and you can't buy the fish?
5. Yes there are colored keys, except NO one has found the Jade key yet... and what about the colored rings? I don't see any of them either.
6. Do the reenter_village trigger mean you can go back to the starting Village?

I think if you analyze these 6 questions. There are two things that could be going on.

1) The developers left these references in the game, sloppishly, but did not complete it. It's VERY possible that the Ninja Star, Raiden's staff would just be Side quests, that give koins for rewards. So, no biggie, if that's the case.

Although, the references that you can fight Kitana, Frost, etc is VERY disappointing if those are left out of the game too.

This could really be the case here, but I am hoping it's #2.

2) ALL of these references to these lines and items ARE TOTALLY still in this game.

If this is the case, any logical person will tell you, they are MORE than a sidequest. There will be a hidden/encrypted file with MORE references that will conclude these missions with huge surprises.

The Ninja Star, Raiden's Staff, ring(s) that you can find inside fish - perhaps the 6 colored rings, and finally, all 6 colored keys MEANS the answer to secrets, Super Unlockables...

So, these are the 2 ways we can go from here.

On Monday night, there will be a chat with the developers at MortalKombatOnline.com, and I hope we can learn better if #1 is the case, or #2.

On Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for PS2 when you play Mortal Kombat 2.
Fighting Smoke and the Random Select on the character select screen does
not work. It just simply pauses the game when you hit start. Up+start
in the random select and it just pauses the game. On the portal when
you hit Down+start when dan forden comes out to fight smoke, it just
pauses the game. Ive tried Down+Every button possible and nothing seems
to work. Also on the random select ive tried up+ everything. I heard
on the xbox version Up+X works for the random select so X might also
work on Smoke. But I think Ed Boon and the guys forgot about it for PS2.
Can you please ask him if its in there or did they forget. Thanks, A.

yea that would be kool, my guess is yes. Midway arcade treasures 3 with UMK3 and maybe MK4.

I think it would be kool to redo a 2-d game and make it kinda like Trilogy put like twice as big as it was. with every character and every stage and also add all the 3d characters but have them in the 2d game and add some new guys, and MAKE IT ONLINE PLAYABLE.

Yes a 3D Ultimate would really be awesome!

Would it fit the disc?

If you get rid of Chess, Konquest, Krypt, Puzzle, you probably has enough space to get EVERY Mortal Kombat character in the game.

Why developping one game per year if they dont makes better graphics, and gameplay???

I love the MK franchise but if they want to face other blockbuster like DOA, virtua fighter or Tekken, they must at last improve their graphical engine.

But i think that the reall interest of MORTAL KOMBAT IS in his storyboard.
MK is the ONLY fighting game that give a real story to each character and create a big universe in which every warrior has his place.....that's why MK is so legendary, so popular...........



Mortal Kombat must always be a legend in the fighting game genre.

We should ask the MK Team what the "Special Features" for the Gamecube version of MK:Deception will be...
