Cyrax was unmasked in MK Gold and was black. The only time he was featured unmasked and not black was in Defenders of the Realm, though, nobody should really beleive everything featured in that cartoon.

And if they seriously wanted to add another black chracter into the series, they shouldn't have to mask his skin from us. It may have been a bit of a shocker to all of us when we realized that Cyrax was indeed black this entire time for those who have never played Gold before and beat the game using Cyrax and revealing his ending... but still, I think that the answer isn't because they felt they needed to add more black characters... in my opinion, I think they should add more. I mean, lets see, who's black and probably will continue being in the games? Jax... Jade... you know that's all I can think of, they need more. Seriously, they need more.

jade looks more filipino imo. you also forgot noob saibot, he's true black. :P jokes aside i think they'd end up making stereotypes if the made more black characters look at how jax turned out since DA. by the way you forgot tanya and kai.

There were no hints about it; think about it, before MK Gold, he was only in MK3 and its installments, and never shown before his automation. They never said anything about there not being enough black characters to justify making him black. I have to say though that that is a really unusual thing to even think though. Who would even think that in the first place?
Icebaby and MortalSidd, you guys also forgot Darrius. lol, we could also go technical and say Ermac and Khameleon could have dark skin too (Ermac in UMK3 had much darker skin than the other ninjas, and Khameleon's alternate costume in MKT had her with darker skin instead of a darker costume).

I TOTALLY AGREE. Jeez, there's plenty of white and Asian characters! Reptiles and such, we need more black characters.

This thread. It needed not bumping because the great Jerrod was the last to post. But in all seriously I hate it when in games the developers make a character a different race or a woman just to not seem prejudice. They usually become stereotypes.

Oooh yeah, I totally forgotten about how Darrius is also another black character. I'd probably forgot about him when I wrote that. Silly me!

I don't see the stereotypes ^ People complain too much IMO about trivial stuff.

At any rate, the cartoon with some things wasn't canon like Cyrax being white for example and in some cases added characters that were never in the games.

Any word on whether Sektor is white or black in the games, I remember in the cartoon he was black but as we see the cartoon took liberites. Or they went to Midway who wasnt sure which one they wanted to be black and chose Sektor at the time and switched it to Cyrax in MK4. Or maybe theyre both black.

As far as Sektor being unmasked... never happened yet.

I'm not sure if they're ever going to unmask him, but to assure you, Sektor isn't black, and don't believe that the cartoon is right... Ermac has red hair and a strip beard? Ehh... I find that to be kinda weird, especially for a character like him.

So I guess every black man and women look like that.
