You can't be serious, are you? Because I never heard of that. But, what I mean is what kind is his hat, I am not talking about Kung Lao's modified one, but what are those hats called that are just regular?

It looks like a wide brim hate with a modded blade edge, but the hat itself appears to be a more solid material than the standard wide brim. The glossiness could just be the game made it look and they continued to use that, looks like a smooth, solid leather, almost like the material you'd make a belt out of.

actually the hat he has is a barbers bowl its just that the sides are sharpened.A barbers bowl is a hat barbers would wear around china and when they traveled around the country they would have a place were to put the cut hair. It's just that kung laos is sharpened

I agree with billyrage, the hat pretty much looks like a barber's bowl. But take a look at this:

No laughs Just imagine it with a straightened brim and without that braid of course.

Also, the crown of Kung Lao's hat looks just like the one from bowler. Maybe it's because of the fact, that Kung's trademark move was influenced by a Goldfinger's character named Oddjob, who was throwing his bowler in the aforementioned James Bond movie.

Only with a sharpened razor ring that goes on the brim and the hat should be leather. Otherwise, this hat was inspired by a barbers bowl, like billyrage and Mortalman said.

I want one! There are so many items of clothing from MKO I want! Shang's MKDA robes. Kahn's Helmet. Raiden's pre-MKDA coolie hat. Kung Lao's hat. Huge list. But I won't bother. lol

LOL. My friend made a Shao Kahn helmet not to long ago, and he has a straw hat like MK2 Raiden's. I probably will make a Kung Lao hat, with the ring razor and everything . . . it might take a long time and such, but I think it will be worth it.

Seriously though, it's a kustom made hat obviously.Like a custom made hat that MK2Kung posted pretty much.


No doubt thought the MK team, Midway was inspired by Oddjob from the James Bond series.

For the record, Oddjob from James Bond wasn't the only inspiration for Kung Lao, John Tobias also stated in an interview that the idea of Kung Lao's hat always returning to him after being thrown was influenced by Captain America's throwing shield, everytime Captain America threw his shield, it always returned to him

Well, that is true however this has to be only in the case of some of his fatalities with his hat coming back to him because in the game itself that's not the case lol.It magically reappears on his head after every time he throws it.Like infinite hats to throw lol.
