i guess he wanted to kill sub-zero not Quan-chi

Some will say Scorpion and Sub-Zero's MK2 endings never happened and that Scorpion's MK3 bio and ending was just wrong, and that Scorpion has been trying to kill Sub-Zero in every Mortal Kombat and failing each time.

Others will say that Quan Chi triggered the memory of Scorpion's family and Scorpion believed the Lin Kuei was responsible for it, so he ignored his vow to protect Sub-Zero.


I personally favor the Quan Chi memory theory because it doesn't make Scorpion look like an fucking idiot.

Well, until we get something that says otherwise, the fact is Scorpion never befriended Sub-Zero. He's been after him the whole time from MK2-MK4 and failing each time.

It isn't a fact yet. There's a vague line in MK:DA the implies that Scorpion was always after Sub-Zero.
Until I see them confirm for a fact that Scorpion was chasing after Sub-Zeor in MK3, I'll stick to the Quan Chi memory theory.

On a personal note, if it is confirmed for a fact that the MK2 endings never happened and Scorpion's been after Sub-Zero this whole time, then that'd be it for me. They'd officially ruin Scorpion.

My theory? Scorpion was always after Subby. Remember, although he got his revenge for him getting killed when he killed the elder Subby, he still needed to take out the one(s) responsible for killing his family and clan, and he believed that to be the Lin Kuei, at the time. When younger Subby showed up in MK2, Scorpion didn't know what to think, since he thought (rightly) that he had killed Sub-Zero. After observing the younger Subby, though, he realized that it wasn't the same one who killed him so long ago. This gave younger Subby some leeway with Scorpion, though eventually, Scorpion would have to go kill him, too, in order to fulfill his revenge. He didn't become younger Subby's protector; he just let him go for a while, until he could determine whether or not to include him with rest of the Lin Kuei when he destroys them. Come MK4, Scorp had decided that, since younger Subby was a Lin Kuei ninja, and was poised to take it over, he should die along with the rest of his clan. Hence, the attack at the end. However, he learned the truth, and released Subby from his 'curse' of death. With Quan Chi revealed as the true killer, Scorpion had no more business with Subby or the Lin Kuei.

So, in essence, Scorpion killed off elder Subby, saw younger Subby show up, realized that they weren't the same person, let him be until he could determine whether or not to kill him along with the rest of his clan in order to satisfy his revenge, determined that he should in MK4, learned that Quan Chi was the real one responsible, and left Subby and the Lin Kuei to live out their own lives while he persued his real target.

Has anyone ever beaten MK4 or MK Gold with Scorpion, or Sub-Zero, or watched MK The Journey Begins? These elements describe why Scorpion never killed the younger Sub-Zero. It is a little long.

In MK The Journey begins, Shang Tsung arrives to get Scorpion to help Sub-Zero by telling him if anyone else should kill him, that he would not be allowed into his Hall Of Honors. Sorry for the runon sentence. Anyway, this kind of describes Scorpion's mental state. Since dying, Scorpion is easily manipulated. I'll explain how.

Onto MK Mythologies for further explaination. Quan Chi needed the services of a ninja that could easily defeat the four elements within the Temple Of The Elder Gods. Quan Chi got Classic Sub-Zero. The only payment needed was the destruction of the Shiari Ryu, Scorpion's clan, but Quan Chi took it one step further. He assassinated the entire clan, and Scorpion's family since he also got Scorpion in case Sub-Zero couldn't fulfill his mission. Sub-Zero successfully accomplished his mission, and this plot got MK4 ploted as well.

During MK1, Scorpion helped Sub-Zero, and during the final fight between Liu Kang, and Shang Tsung the two ninjas were working together. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden were holding off all of Shang Tsung's guards. Based On the MKII comic by John Tobias, and when they finally defeated them, Scorpion burned Sub-Zero, and then disintigrated.
Since Scorpion killed "only" the one who massacred himself, he did not get revenge on the one responsible for killing his entire clan, and family, so he would never Rest In Peace unless he successfully accomplished this.

MKII rolled around, and during this tournament Scorpion witnessed Sub-Zero spare the life of a fallen warrior. Knowing the real Sub-Zero was too evil, and hate filled, Scorpion knew this wasn't the one who supposedlly killed his family, and clan, and himself. He vows to protect him like in the first MK. That way, he could kill him later.

MK4/Gold. Scorpion finally defeats Sub-Zero in battle, and in the ending, Scorpion finally learns that Quan Chi was responsible for the massacre of his family, and clan. Knowing this, he lets Sub-Zero live since Scorpion allready got his vengance for himself. Scorpion trapped Quan Chi when he was being sent back to the Netherealm, and took him back with him so he could try to finally accomplish his vengance for his family, and clan. Thus bringing us to MKDA, and MKD.

Scorpion was only after Sub-Zero because he thought this Sub-Zero aided his older brother in the massacre of his family, and clan, that's why Scorpion was after him. He changed his mind when he finally learned that Quan Chi was the instrumentor in the whole thing.

And I also think Quan Chi recruited Scorpion into Shinnok's army cuz he knew Subzero wanted to accomplish what his brother did in the Netherealm. And what better way to do that? Make scorpion believe that Subzero helped his brother kill his family and Clan

MKDA mentions that Scorpion and Sub-Zero did befriend each other. There's a little joke where Scorpion says he's thinking about ending his protection deal if Sub doesn't stop hitting him.
