The mods themselves don't fully believe or disbelieve it so they won't, even though it's a fact that none of that shit ever actually happened. I really don't see what's so hard to understand.
Person A says "Did Ermac ever really appear in MK1 in any way shape or form?"
Person B says "Yes he was a hidden character in MK1, there was a specific way to get him, but I don't remember how."
Person C says "No it was just a random glitch that happened 1 in a billion chances, but he was there"
Person D says "No, it was a glitch that stands for error macro and made Scorpion Red and macro means pallet"
Person E says "You are all wrong. None of that shit EVER happened, it was all a lie in a video game magazine, ERMACS in the audits is a joke to make you people talk about it, over 10 years ago, not today. A macro in computing is a single, user-defined command that is part of an application and executes a series of commands."

I was trying to learn to effectively play as Rayden, nearly everyone in the place was playing one of the Streetfighter II's set up next to MK, so I was 1P'ing.
My match with Scorpion was about to start when the music froze up, holding one high note forever, and when the match started Scorpion was red (by this time, everyone was looking at MK to see what the noise was, so something like 25 other people saw it) The red Scorpion did the spear animation, but no visible spear came out and Rayden acted like he was uppercutted then "Scorpion" walked over and punched me once...the machine froze at a screen saying "ER MAC WINS" and the noise stopped.
Ignorant people that say "Ermac isn't in the game because I've never seen him" or one hilarious person who said Ermac was in MK3, not the original will say I'm lying, but they should be more open-minded, have they ever seen an atom?

Dieing would be good. Can we have a boardwide vote to kill a topic and forbid its reposting or something?

No, I think that the sticky would be useful enough. I mean, what if newcomers to MK1 heard of the rumor and their topics about Ermac were banned? I mean, there would be a thread up there and all.

I just brought it up because, I wanted to know if "ErrorMac really exists", or I mean is there a certain way to make the glitch happen, I heard there is a way?

I doubt a sticky topic would do much good. I have yet to see anyone actually change their mind on this issue, despite there being absolutely no solid proof that Ermac exists in MK1. Believers WANT to believe and they'll do anything to ustify that belief. A lot of MK fans love the notion that the series is so "mysterious" and this is one of the best ways to hype that up. And I love how every time the myth is told it's slightly different. Even in the SAME THREAD you'll often get 3 or 4 different versions of how it works. "It's a red scorpion that jumps down and then the game crashes!" "It's a red scorpion and it says Ermac in his lifebar!" "It's a red Reptile and it says Error Macro on the screen!" Nobody seems to know for sure what happens, it just varies from person to person. You'd think this would be a pretty big sign that this is all just BS.
Been gone a while, but I'm back. Ermac himself as a fighter does not exist in MK1, however the glitch does, and all versions of MK1 from the prototype version up through Revision 3.0 do have an Ermac counter in the edit menu. It lists it as Ermacs and it is the last audit in the test menus. This would keep track of all the times the Error Macro occurred, and yes it does turn Scorpion red. So does the character Ermac exist in MK1? No. But the glitch that turns Scorpion red does.

That's another thing that's funny about these threads. Everytime this comes up well argue it to death and bring up all these points and then out of no where some random person will show up and say he is indeed in the game and all that....but won't provide ANY support or evidence. Like we're just supposed to throw our arms up in the air and go "oh well, problem solved, we know he's in now!!!!". It's like, thanks for the brilliant contribution, more hearsay and unsupported testimonials is EXACTLY what we needed.

Every single person who has ever said anything about Ermac, or Red Scorpion has said it because someone else told them, and not because they saw it with their own eyes. All of it roots back to the EGM magazine, and nothing else. No one before the magazine published that picture ever spoke of a red ninja, only after it. Everyone who says without hesitation that any part of it was true, is saying it because they believed everything they read when they were little. There's also a bunch of people who spread it, and knew it was fake, just to spread it. Over a year and a half ago when this really picked up, I believe it was Outworld222 posted something along the lines of "The interview where Ed Boon PROVES that Ermac appears in MK1" was when I had it with the rumors.
A friend of mine who use to play MK and MKII back in the day more than I did, and stopped when it came to 3 cause he wasn't a fan of gameplay, said to me once when watching me play UMK3 against the Prophet at my house as Ermac "Wasn't Ermac some fake character people thought was in MK1? Isn't that why they put him in UMK3?"
This is coming from a person, who between the time of the rumor surfacing (he read about it when it happened) and that day, between today and about 18 months ago, never heard a word about Ermac really being in MK1. Even HE knew it was a fake story and a fake concept. A person with no technical knowledge of computers, of rom data, of how to search for text within a rom, or caring about the topic in general, knew that it was fake and wanted to reaffirm that fact.
So I brought up an old thread from here, and he said "Wow these people were gullible, I could have gotten a lot of money out of them selling tips and secrets."

People just want to believe.
Probably the biggest myth or misconception of old school arcade MK was how "mysterious" the games where and how many secrets were just packed into it. You always see people gushing over how it took months to find the hidden characters. Well yeah, of course it did...but that's only because they weren't even in the intitial versions! As soon as revisions with the hidden stuff were released the hidden items were uncovered and old news within like a week. You can even use google to look up old usenet posts and see people talking about Noob in rev 3.1 of MK II before it had even shipped across the nation. It was no different than it is now, except fewer people had the internet and most were not as hardcore or knowledable as they are now. The whole notion that games like MK & MK II are just filled with secrets is because of the stuff that ISN'T in the game, like Kano morphs and Animalities. The actual secrets are quite lame. Then there's the nostalgic factor. Nobody wants to think of those games as outdated and simple with barebones gameplay and content. It's much better to remember them as being really mysterious and cryptic. You never knew what could happen next or what colored ninja was lurking in the shadows waiting to be uncovered! There could still be hidden characters waiting to be unlocked even to this day! OH MY!!!!!
And really, what else are people going to talk about when it comes to MK1? Certainly not the gameplay.

His name comes from ERMACS which is displayed in the audits of MK1 in the earlier versions. The reason his name comes from it is because that was the connection which was made for the joke. It appeared under Reptile Battles, so naturally ERMACS means ERMAC BATTLES. Even though it doesn't.
There was one hidden character in MK1, and that was Reptile.
