I would've thought that Chris Casamassa would've played Scorpion. He never did a bad fight scene as him! I agree with whoever else wrote the same thing too!!

As many fond memories as many of us have for the original actors, you've got to realize that was over 15 years ago now (and a decade if you're talking Conquest). Granted a character like Scorpion may not really have a set age, but according to the canon he is an eternal 32. The rare character can be acted at any age (Shang Tsung, for instance), but a lot of these actors have just aged too much to play the parts.
Nothing wrong with some new blood; stay positive.

7-10 minutes. Really??? That is SO short. I don't get how they can develop all the characters and explain details in such short time.
I'm thinking 2-3 minutes of each episode will consist of lame fights, which takes up time. Then the character developments will be really rushed. Ugh. This is way too condensed. I was hoping for a 40 minute duration of each episode.
Kitana better be in this too!

But you gotta feel at least a little sorry for Chris. He was as enthusiastic about reprising the role of scorpion as the fans were - he was always on board no matter how disastrous it looked for the third MK movie. That's some rare dedication, and it would have been nice to see him rewarded for it. It'll be interesting to see who fills his shoes.

The thing about Chris Cassamassa, besides age, is he's not even a real actor, he's primarily a stunt guy. He played Scorpion when Scorpion was just a fight scenes-only character and had no dialogue that wasn't spoken by Ed Boon.
And when he DID act the part himself, in Conquest...frankly, he wasn't any good.
Scorpion's more of a main character in this thing, so they need someone who isn't just a martial artist, but can actually act.

Oh right, that guy. I guess he wasn't too bad. Let's see how his fighting scenes go.

It's still going to be the best live action interpretation of this series to date. I still don't understand what people see in the first film., aside from Linden Ashby and chris casamassa
I'm glad Raiden is in, I just hope he's a god and not some guy with super powered stun guns on his wrists lol. I liked the look of that movie but not how far away they got from the real feel of MK, you can't ground MK in reality too much or you will ruin it IMO.

You're kidding right? Mortal Kombat is all about fighting. I love the story as much as anyone else but how could you complain about fighting in an adaptation of a fighting game? It's like saying "I hope the Halo movie wont have a lot of dumb shooting in it!". Besides, the fight scenes in the Rebirth trailer were fucking AMAZING.
Anyways I've very excited about all this, the album and the video. Warner Bros. defiantly knows how to reinvigorate a franchise through multimedia. And I think Tancharoen was a great choice of director.

The basics of a movie or even a game are the most important, it's like building the theme of a movie then based on it you expend it. The previews until now show a weakness in the quality of their work, story, and actors.

Weakness? MKRebirth was better written, directed and acted than any other live action interpretation reguardless of the deviations. All previous attempts were trying to cater an M rated franchise to CHILDREN of all people which is tragic because the original script didn't Fucking POS Anderson did that.

Alright, so I've seen a few people bashing the series before they've even seen it because of the Rebirth trailer, but wasn't it said that it is going to tie into the game more than just a "realistic" version of MK???

Hot damn Ryan Robbins is a fine piece of hunk! Damn Raiden always has sexy guys to play his role!

Go back and reread the first press release and you'll see that the first three main characters confirmed for the series were Liu Kang, Johnny Cage and Scorpion. So chances are he's in it

Read the op of this thread and y'all will realize that chances are it's NOT using Rebirth's premise.
Hi all, long time admirer of this site but a first time poster
I'm English by the way
I think this whole new character is bull to be honest. The creators will want to give some element of surprise hence the non disclosure of certain castings.
Great to see another Englishman playing Kano as I was always lead to believe he was an Englishman. (It was an English accent that was used in the original film and not Australian as I read somewhere)
.
I should expect these episodes to be around 20 minutes long and distributed via the the to make then accessible to all as opposed just the American fan base, which is quite obvious and maybe the episodes will merely create new back stories to the characters.
And it will be a great refresh so us, the fans can get acquainted with this new vision for MK as opposed to jumping straight i with a film and it being considered as crap.

Well sure, I always liked that about him. Actors that respect their fans are always great. But as someone else mentioned, his expertise is in fighting. I won't say he's a bad actor or anything, since we have no real way of knowing if he could play Scorpion well (he didn't even do his voice, since Ed did). I'd agree he should have came back if there was a third movie however, since as I said I always thought it was really cool he kept interest despite development hell.
It'd be great if the some of the older actors could have cameos in this though; that would be an ideal solution.
