Probably every combos main factor is that of the pop up. Being able to time the pop up so that the opponet is placed exactly where you want them so you can use your pokes and combo enders effectively. Sometimes you can initiate an attack faster than the animation would lead you to believe. This opens up even more possibilities for higher combos.
Think of this study as a "Combo sandwhich". The first piece of bread is the pop up or pop up combo. The meat is the pokes or attacks that hit the opponet in the air. The last piece of bread is the ender. This is the final combo or chain of attacks to finish with. Sometimes ending with a special move is a good choice. For the most part everyone has probably got the "bread" down. We know what is the strongest launcher and the best combo ender. But pokes can be hard to find, let alone time. So hopefully this guide will be a help to everyone...even if you're already a pro.
*Anytime you see an attack with (parenthesis) it means a miss. So 11(3)4cs means you would miss the 3.
*one tip that I find to be the key in all of this combo timing is to watch the reset animation carefully. For example take kai. Try as you might you may never get him past 30% unless you can time his last string properly. Watch for him to get "back into pose" and that is the exact frame that you need to type in the combo. You'll get the hang of it after a while.
Ashrah - 49-52% Weapon: Spin..34..cs..112cs. Or Martial arts: U+4..cs..34..cs..112cs. I find the U+4 to be easier to start than with the spin move. The idea again is to do your 34 a little quicker than normal so that the kick hits higher than it should. If you can do this, things will be easier for your 221cs. I would try to do the 221cs late because sometimes the 2 misses. Her 52 using controller 2: weapon: DU3..22..4..cs..221cs. Ashra obviously needs to be super close to her opponet. The 22 in weapon needs to be done before the spin move is finished. The poke of 4 needs to be done early and then you need to do nothing for a second until ashrah starts to finish her animation of putting her leg back down on the ground. once the frame of her foot touches, you instantly do cs+221cs. This one was very hard for me.
Baraka - 49-56%. Weapon: U+3..1..3321..Blade rush (FF3). Easy. Just do the 3 poke very soon after your initial pop up. blades: U+3.21.Parry cancel.3321..FF3. Figured this one out last night (1/9/06). Just do everything early and the FF3 late.
Bo Rai Cho - 36-4?%. Weapon: B+2..cs..232..221(1)1. The second 1 will miss but that's okay. Holding forward is a must for this combo. You will actually be doing the 232 sooner than you think. His foot will hit even though it looks like it shouldn't. So do the pop up and creep forward and do the 232 soon. Keep following and do the 22111 very late. Kinda tough to do.Check found higher using his puke. I can't do it. It involves being close to your opponet and at an angle so that you can do puke and it goes through them and behind them. They do B+4 for the jump kick move and then they are on the puddle slipping and sliding. From there youjust do his 36%. The game will say 19% when finished because it doesn't add the damage from the spin kick which is around 17%. So the total is still 36%. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.
Blaze - 35%. Easy. Too bad we haven't found higher. 12..113.
Cage - 56%. Not too tricky of combo. Cage is fast and his hands have decent reach. Martial arts: (1)14..11..11..212U+4. For some reason missing the first hit will make this combo better. If you chose to not miss the first hit it will be 51%. You can hold forward for this combo as well. It's not too hard as long as you keep following the enemy. His 11 pokes have pretty much no lag and the last 212U+4 reaches without a problem. You will probably be able to do this one quicker then say..kai's, kira's, or shang Tsung's combos.
Chameleon - 59-71-73-74% Hard if going over 60%. He has many methods of madness. I will only list a few. Weapon: 13..44..4113 = 45% Easy. Weapon: 13..44..411..411..rush or do 12. I have difficulty doing anything other than his rush since I can't reach him (kinda like the 112 thing with mavado). Other strategies invlove using 111U+4 in martial arts as pokes. So far I have been able to do his 71% combo: weapon: 13..44..411..cs..111U+4..rush. I fi end with 44 it may go higher. The beginning of his combos are easy..using the 13..44..411 stuff but it gets tricky after that. his 73% is as follows: 13..44..cs..111U+4..111U+4..rush. No breaks here, everything needs to be done fast and by holding forward other wise hits in the second string of 111U+4 will miss. On another note, when doing 411..411 in ninja sword you should know that the second string of 411 can be started earlier than it appears. Do his 73 but instead of 44 do 41. you may need to take a step back so that it connects. This will raise him to 74%.
Cyrax - 40-59-77+%. HARD if trying for over 40%. Martial arts: bomb..11..11..11..11cs = 59%. Doing 7 sets or 11 will be 77% if you end with 11cs on the last one. Nearly Impossible for me to go higher than 59. I got it using controller 2. Have fun trying this one out for size. Holding forward or at least using it as baby steps is inevtible since you need to keep "following" the airborne opponet. Check has been able to do 7 sets of 11 pokes to make this combo work. nice work check :)
Daegon - 55% Martial arts: Rolling Uppercut..112..cs..1124. Not too bad. The helpful thing is that the rolling uppercut puts them very high in the air and his weapons have great range. Just be patient and try not to hit cs immediately after 112. You need a pause so that you won't do his branch combo. Do his 112 early so that the 2 appears to not even hit at all. Kind of weird visually but in the realm of Mk games this can be normal. Doing his 1124 in weapon after changing stances after a pause of 112..cs..1124 is not that hard. Again, his weapons have good range and you don't even need to hold forward after the 112 thing either. Doing so might mess up the combo anyway.
Dairou - 32-34: Martial arts..Tombstone..1..cs..11F+3. I find his 31% way easier and by only sacrificing 1%. For 31% you can do U+4 pop up in martial arts, switch style, and then 11F+3 in weapon. His 32 is one of the toughest for me. The idea is to do the poke of 1 in martial arts very early after the tombstone drop pop-up. Since there is lag, the 11F+3 in weapon will be done late. Check found higher with using a d+1 to poke in the middle of the combo: Martial arts: U+4..D+1..cs..11F+3 = 34%. easy.
Darrius - 48-54: Weapon: 3..cs..11..11cs2(4)44. Darrius doesn't have as much difficulty with this combo when compared to other fighter's combos. Again this is just about character placement and not as much about timing. After launching with 3 in weapon and changing stance, take a step forward for the first 11 poke. It may look like it shouldn't reach but it can. Take another step forward to be as close as possible and do a late 11cs2444. Usually some of the last hits will miss. You goal is to be as close as possible for the last string of hits and to do them late. If done correctly, the first 4 in 11cs2444 will miss and the rest will connect. That will grant you 54%. However if your 2 missed and the first 4 connected, then the last two 4's will not hit and leave you at 48% or so.
Drahmin - 37% Not too bad: In martial arts: 11cs..D+3..112. Just be able to time the D+3 early and maybe take a step forward. Not too difficult.
Ermac - 50-51-53. Weapon: D+2..slam.13.slam.13444, throw. Ermac's best pop up is his uppercut in weapon (D+2). You need to time his slam early by tapping BDB as ermac is uppercuting. This will allow you to press 4 at the end of BDB so that you can use this move quicker than the animation would seem to allow. After the first slam, press 13 even sooner than animation would seem to allow. This is probably the most important step in doing this combo correctly. If your slam is too late after the D+2 then the 13 will not hit or only one attack will connect. After doing the early 13 correctly, doing another BDB4 slam should not be difficult. Do another premature 13 and then end with FB2 for his throw. You can choose to do 13444 and then throw but I find this to be harder and it will only add 1% giving you 51% rather than 50%. Also, Ermac's 51 seems to be limited since his mind throw range is limited. i would stick with 13..throw as a good end to this combo. A good way to test this is to only attempt the trhow after 13444 if the last 4 misses. This miss will make ermac take a step forward and then he should be in good range for the throw. Also, do the 13 business very early after the slam. Check has his 52 by doing the one in weapon with a slight difference: D+2.slam.13.cs.slam.11.PC.112.FB2.
Frost - 40-41-43%. Her 40% is much easier though. Weapon: B+3..cs..112..cs..112 = 41%. Her 40% is the same yet you end with 2B+2 instead of 112. Most of the time in her last weapon string, the second 1 in 112 misses so you only get 36%. To successfully get it right you need to be holding forward except during the 112 of weapon part. Since F+1 is a knock back move for weapon it will end the combo. Timing is tricky so try the 40% first to get practice. Check found a 43% by adding one more attack to her 40%. Use Player 2 controller and do weapon: B+3.cs.1122.cs.2B+2 = 43%. No too hard just do the 1122 late. I actually have taken a slight step back after the pop up and sometimes this seems to help all four hits of 1122 to connect. Then do the cs.2B+2 faster than it appears.
Fujin - 38-44%. Martial arts: Leviate (DF1) ..113cs3. Not too difficult either. The plan is to get as close as possible and do the combo very very late. If done too early the last 3 in weapon will miss giving you only 35% or so. He also has potential by doing this in non-weapon stance: DF1.D+1.113cs(3) for 38%. I hope to go higher. If you use the wall spacing to your advantage...fujin's 38% withthe D+1 will be 44% if all the hits connect.
Goro - 47%. Weapon: U+1..22..cs..113. This combo is kinda tough for me. For practice try this 43% comboin weapon stance: U+1..22..43. The hardest part of the combo is his last string of 113 in martial arts. The last hit almost always misses because he appears to be too far away. Here is the strategy. After the pop up in weapon..try and take a baby step forward and do the 22 as early as you can so that both hits connect. While still holding forward, change stance and do the 113 early, not late like other combos. You may get frustrated after getting all but the last hit to connect because of the distance.
Havik - 41% Weapon: B+2..22..cs..112F+2. Intermediate. If you are getting use to the animation reset thing then you will crack this combo down in under 5 minutes. Do the 22 pokes early so they look like they are missing. At the last moment switch stance and end with the 112F+2 string and that's all there is to it.
Hotaru - 37% Not hard and also available in MKD. Martial Arts: 2B+1..D+1..22U+1. Basically take a step forward for the D+1 and make sure it hits as high as possible.
Hsu Hao - 45-48% Easy: Martial Arts: 12cs..cs..112. No need for explanation. No reason why I missed his 48%. I just over-looked it. sumo:12cs.cs.B+1.123 = 48%
Jade - 41% Easy: Weapon: 21U+3..21U+3. I hope that someday she will have a higher and better looking one than this. i miss her awesome 57% from MKD.
Jarek - 46-51-53-57-61-66% Medium / Hard: Weapon: Lasso..1344..cs..11cs. i would use the lasso at close or sweep range. i hate how it has a tendancy to miss. but if it does then side-step or wait about 3 seconds and then try again. Basically do the 134 with a slight hesitation. do not hold forward or even press it until it's time to cs and then do the 11cs a little late. so that you have plenty of time to switch stances and do the 11cs. Another good one is this 53% weapon combo: lasso, 44..134..BF3. Check informed me that it is possible to do 13444 after lasso and still get 11cs but you need to use controller two. i pulled this one off this morning..not easy. The idea is to change stance after the 13444 quicker than you think. No stalling whatsoever.
Jax - 42: Easy: Weapon: B+2B+1..B+211U+1. Just do the last string late to ensure all the hits will connect.
Kabal - 52-53-56%. Martial arts: (1)3..cs..114..cs..112cs. This combo relys on the timing and distance more than anything. His 4 in weapon is an axe kick than nearly always makes the combo end. His 4 hits twice and the goal is to make only the 1st hit of this two-hit axe kick connect. The other step is being able to switch stances and do 112cs before they hit the ground. I find it best to step in a little and do the 114 immediately after the pop up of (1)3. After the 114 in weapon, continue to hold forward and do your cs then 112cs as late as possible. If you don't hold forward, kabal will not be close enough and the 2 in 112cs will miss leaving you with only 46%. he does have a 53%.Ihaven't tried it yet but i'm told its (1)3..cs..spin..114..114. probably just as hard as the 52%. check told me about this one. I found a 56% for kabal that is the same as the other but ends with 11B+1 in weapons. check and I talked about this and we both thought b+1 would miss. I tried it last night (12/19) and got it to work twice on controller 2. After more testing I believe this combo to be controller two only.
Kai - 32-34%. martial arts: fireball..114..11B+1. All of kai's strong combos rely on being able to execute another combo after using 114 as a poke chain in martial arts stance. Use the fireball as the pop up since it is the only one that has good placement for when the opponet falls. 112/cs/b+1 is going to be entered in last second as you hold forward. Ending with 11B+1 is 34% and his 11cs would be 36 or higher but it misses. I even tried this with parry cancel and it still misses.
Kano - 33-36: Weapon: B+1F+2..cs..11..1143. His 11 pokes can be tricky. Just be sure to do them early and not press anything unitl his last chain of 1143. The game recognizes users that just button mash. This helps to train us to do better when doing combos. his 36 started out as a theory that check helped me prove. martial arts: U+4..11..11(2)csF+2 =36%. Don't touch forward at all. make the 2 miss by being as far away as you can.
Kenshi - 44-48-50-51: Not too tough: Weapon: U+2..cs..2.2.2.slam (BDB1) .2.2.2.throw (DB4). Hold forward the whole time. And of course switch stances quickly after the U+2 in weapon so you can do the 2.2.2. string quickly.
Weapon:U+2.cs.2.2.2.BDB1.2.2.2.2.DB4 =50%. My tips for this one is to not move forward for your first 3 pokes and to do them quickly. Also, the tele slam needs to be done fast and as they are bouncing and kenshi starts to get back into ready postion. Immediately hold forward and do the 4 pokes with 2 very quickly. Kenshi's 2 poke, IMO, is the fastest poke in the game and if you start early enough he can do those 4 pokes. Finish with his tele throw and there you have it. Weapon:U+2.cs.2.2.cs.1.BDB1.cs.2.2.2.2.DB4 =51% on Player 2 found by check.
Kintaro - 46%. Not too hard: Martial Arts: Suction (DB1)..B+2..suction..cs..421. The only thing to note for this combo is to do the 2nd suction very quickly or it will end the combo. Check found an alt 46%: Non weapon stance: Breath (DB1).B+2.cs.DB2(fireball).421.
Kira - 44% Hard: Martial arts: 44U+3..44..4412cs. The idea again is to do the first 44 pokes very early, that way the last combo string will connect. I finally got it using p2. I suggest pressing forward once and then doing the 44 poke. Immediatley after the poke, hold forward and do the 4412cs early.
Kitana - 48-63% Not too hard: Martial arts: U+4.cs..11..cs..1223/4. Yes you can end with 3 or 4, same damage either way and 4 has longer reach to. Just be sure to do the 11 pokes in weapon faster than you would normally think. Shouldn't be too hard. I hear she can do two 11 pokes in weapon for higher damage. I got it to work both on controller 1 and 2. Its 63% and it's Martial arts: U+4.cs..11.11.cs..1223/4.
Kobra - 41-42-44% Tricky but not impossible: Weapon: U+2..cs..1.1.1.22B+2. Doing the first poke as quickly as possible is the only way here. You need to get the style change very quickly and be sure to hold forward the entire time. It will look funny but every time you see kobra scooch forward you know it's time to do another poke with 1. I have tried ending with 13 cs but I think that after 3 pokes of 1..another 1 will be out of reach. He has this 42: U+2..cs..1..1..122..punch rush. He has a new one from nukes and almost from me. Using p2 controller in Weapon: DB4..22..cs..1..1..22B+2 = 44%
Kung Lao - 40-45%. Two different ways for the 40% but both are Easy: martial arts: 2..113cs..B+2..11F+3. or 2..cs..B+2..B+2..11F+3. No need for explanation. I just found a higher combo for kung lao (12/18 8 pm). It involves missing hits for higher damage. martial arts: 1(1)3cs.B+2.11F+3 = 45%. Not hard at all, just be around sweep distance so the 2nd punch will miss.
Li Mei - 55-57-63-69-73%. Her 55% isn't too hard though. Martial arts: flip kick(FD3)...112..cartwheel kick(DB4) ..flying punches (FF2) = 55%. Her 57% is FD3..33..DB4..FF2. Do the 33 early or the cartwheel won't position them right for the flying punches.I'm told that you can also do this 63. FD3..112..cartwheel..112..cartwheel..flying punches. Hard. i found her 69% tonight of 12/18. Its all in first stance: FD3..33..112.cartwheel.flying punches. I usually take a step forward after the fd3 to make sure all the hits connect. so far this works on controller 2. Check told me about a 73 for li mei using p2 controller and against motaro. Martial arts: FD3.3.DB4.112.DB4.FF2. I find this one very difficulat. Try as I might I can';t get the 2 in 112 to connect..even against motaro and using p2 controller. But I saw the video and I know it works.
Liu Kang - 56% kinda tough: Weapon: B+2.cs.11..11..1(1)34cs. Like darrius, missing a hit can allow the combo % to grow strangly. In this case if you connect with the second 1 in 1134cs then the 3 will miss so you would get 54%. Liu kang and mokap basically share this martial arts style and their 11 pokes are fast. I would hold forward after the first 11 until the combo is over. Your first time you will probably be getting the 54%. It's all about how close you are and your timing. If your too close then the second 1 in 1134cs will hit and make the 3 miss.
Mavado - 60-70-71-72-86!. Somewhat hard if your going past 60: I can't do anything past 64 so far. Weapon: (21)4..114..114...cs.112/cs. My tip is to never even touch the forward button. it compromising the distance and makes you too far away. Even if you do hold forward and try to do it you can end with F+1 instead of 112/cs but that will leave you at 60%. So if your holding the forward then by pressing 112 at the end you will do a F+1 knock away hit and the combo will end. ending with 11cs is 70 and 112 is 71%. Too bad that ending with 114 misses...unless your good at timing and you can make the first 114 in weapon cross the opponet over so your combo goes to opposite side. I did this today and the 114 in long fist is equal to 112. His 86 is brilliant. Check found this and others using the Parry cancel trick. Weapon: (21)4..114.PC.114.114.cs.F+1 = 86% w/o charge.
Meat - 45% Not hard: Martial arts: 22cs..cs.D+1.cs.11U+3. Timing the D+1 is the only tricky part. Do it soon and scoot forward so you can catch them in the last string.
Mileena - 35% Tricky: Martial Arts: 41..4..43cs. Most of the time the last hit will miss. Do the 4 poke as early as possible and creep forward. Finish the last combo string late so that the sai poke at the end will connect. Not as easy as it looks. In fact it may make the opponet look like a stiff board that is barely floating above the ground. This combo looks kinda odd but I can't get it to work any other way.
Mokap - 43-48-50%. Hard and Tricky: Martial Arts of Jeet: B+1..11..11..23cs. He has a good 43% of B+1..23..23cs. All I can recommend is holding forward and timing the pokes early. If you go for the 48% combo don't hold forward for the last string of 23cs or you will do his F+2 launcher and it will end the combo. his 50 is player two only and the timing is tricky. (2)B+1..11..11..1134. i got his 49% doing this: F+2.11.23.1134. I understand that F+2 as a pop up is 3% weaker than using B+1. Yet with B+1 it is impossible for me to do the 1134 at the end because the 23 has more delay than 11. If it is possible than mokap would be at 53% or so.
Moloch - 57-inf%. easy infinite but medium legit combos: Since you can abuse his 11U+3 over and over again it's almost pointless to point out other combos. My original 57% is 12..11U+3..11B+1. just do the last string at the last moment and hold forward the whole time.
Motaro - 50-51. tricky. No doubt about it. Only recently did I learn of his 22 being a poke in the middle of a combo. DB4..22..112. This one is seriously hard. My strategy invloves doing the 22 before it looks like motaro is about to stand up. You need to hold forward or the last combo string will not connect. So far I have been able to end with Battering ram for 45%, 112 for 50% and 31(1) or 11(4) for 47%. Most of the time his last hit misses for his lack of reach. Only try motaro's combos if you want to become frustrated easily. I would never recommend using these in a real match because of the insane timing. His 51% is player two only and its DB4..22..34.
Nightwolf - 44-45%. Not too dificult for the 44. I can't do the 45. Weapon. B+1..23rush.23rush. The strategy is do do the 23 very early so it looks like your trying to get them to land on your hatchet rather then using it to poke. Like your stretching out your hand for them to land on it. The shoulder rush needs to be so quick that they opponet goes up instead of away. It will look like your going underneath them instead of at them. This will place them over your head for the last string of 23rush. i'm told ending with 111cs is 45% with controller 2 only.Also, make sure their back is toward your chest for this to work.
Nitara - 41% Two ways, not too hard: Timing is awful here. In weapon: 34...11F+4 or cs then 23cs. I find the 34..cs..23cs one to be easier. You just need to do the last string very late.
Noob - 51-52-63!% Not hard: The 51 is this: Martial arts: 211B+2..stars..211cs. The 52% is black hole..stars..211cs all in martial arts. just be sure to do the stars a little early and you probably won't even have a problem with the rest of the combo. 73% = blackhole,teleport grab, stars, 211cs. Check knew about this earlier but I had the idea tonight and tried it out so it's new to me. (1/5/07). he has a 90% but I can't get it to work. After some clarification i wil put it up here.
Onaga: 38%. 4B+1..11B+2. Thanks to check for this. I had given up on onaga. I thought he would never reach after 4,b+1 so i gave up.
Quan Chi - 43-45% Easy and difficult: Normal two part branch combo. Martial arts: 231B+2..2344cs. No explanation needed. He does have an alternate 43% using d+1 in the middle as a poke. i tried out this in escrima: BD4..D+1.2344cs = 45%. check gave me the idea but I had already thought i had exhausted using the D+1 as a poke. Even with the first combo it didn't seem to change much.
Raiden - 36% Easy: In martial arts: 21cs..cs..2112F+1. Just make sure that you do the last string late.
Rain - 35% Not too difficult: Two different ways. In weapon: B+1B+1..cs..1..cs..221. Also, a little more tricky, 2F+2..cs..B+1..cs..1..cs..221. I know...way too many style changes for one combo. Just be on your toes for this one. Lots of tricky timing.
Reiko - 36-41% Tricky. This combo makes use of the trick kick. Kabal also has this kick as 4 in weapon stance. It is similar for reiko and it is the same as mileena's 1st stance back in MKD. The kick is an axe kick that hits twice. If you can time the kick to only hit the first but miss the second then it will allow the combo to keep going. If both hits in this two-part attack connect, the combo will end as though doing three uppercuts in a row. In martial arts: DF4..DF4..1..11~3~cs. I used "~" marks to signify the uniqueness of the kick. Timing it right will allow it to connect partly and then allow the cs at the end instead of the two-part attack that will end the combo. Tricky timing but doable. Check has reiko higher using this combination. DF4.11`3`..11`3`cs. i have seen it done against motaro on controller 2. for 41%.
Reptile - 32-36% 4 ways to do. The first three are easy. Martial arts: 4U+4..411B+1/B+2/cs. The fourth one is tricky. 4U+4..cs..223..cs..11B+1. It looks better but sadly the last attacks appear to only do around 1% damage. Stick with one of the first three combos. I hear that you can end with 411B+1 after the 223 poke. If so this will be around 33-34%. Check did thisone but I still have not. My guess is that the 223 has to be very early so he has time to stick out the 4 and do 411B+1.
Sareena - 36-41-43-45%. HARD. Sareena is as fierce as they come and she can be difficult with those tricky throwing knives. Weapon: U+1..BF2 (2,3, or even 4 times in a row) cs..21cs. Three things make her combo's hard. Timing knives so that sareena doesn't take steps backward is tough. Also, being able to throw consecutive knives is another batte. The last difficualy part is ending with her 21cs branch combo. The cs is a spinning weapon attack that hits three times. Everytime, at least for me, the last spin of the cs attack misses giving me only 37%. I finally got her 41 but it is kinda tricky. As for the knives, try and type in BF2 while she is throwing the knive. This will prevent her from taking steps back. Easier said than done though.
Scorpion - 52%. Medium difficulty: Martial arts: spear..U+4..B+1 three times..cs..221. The sword combo at the end will look like it's missing but after enough practice you will get the hang of it. It's not too difficult if you start the B+1 pokes early. You can actually do the first one so that scorpion's opposite hand (the one pointing up during B+1) will actaully hit them rather than the hand pointing forward. Get these three pokes out of the way quickly and then do the 221 chain in weapon fairly late so that there is enough pause in the combo. You should not need to hold forward but if you do, let go out if when it's time to do 221 in weapon. F+2 in weapon is a pop up. If it doesn't completely miss it will probably just plain end the combo regardless. His 55% that you may have seen is escapable because it ends withhellfire that the opponet can roll out of. He has a 53 that starts with a jumpkick. I still can't nail this one.It may be online only.
Sektor - 57-58%% HARD: Martial arts: Tele-punch (FF4)..11cs..cs..11cs. He has stronger pop ups but they all push the enemy away. Using 2 just puts them straight up in the air and only gives you 49%. You will need to hold forward for this one to catch up (no pun intended :) for the last string of 11cs. At first I used 2 as my pop up. That made it easier but for only 49%. With more difficulty I was able to use F+3 as my pop up but sadly it is only 53%. Tele-punch, which is weaker than other pop ups, somehow makes up the difference for a total of 57%. My best strategy is do do the 11cs as quickly as you possible can without moving forward. As the spin of blades is ending immediately change style and hold forward so you can catch them with another 11cs. For me the timing is tough, kinda like a cross between Daegon and Sareena. I heard from check that he can do a two hitter in weapon after the last 11cs. Range is hard but I believe him. Here is the 58%: martial arts: 2.11cs..cs..11cs..3,B+2.I have tried this many times and I am never close enough to do anything after the 2nds string of 11cs. Oh well.
Shang Tsung - 35% Hard/medium: Martial arts: B+3..cs..B+4..B+4F+4. This one is tricky for the last part. Do the initial B+4 as a poke early and then watch shang's hands. The moment he points the hand down again you know that his animation has reset and you can attack again. His B+4 hits very low which is great because I still can't follow this poke with any other attack...they are all to high and by the time the B+4 is over they are practically only inches off the ground. So you need to end with B+4F+4 as it seems to be the only thing that can even reach the opponet.
Shao Kahn - 47-57% Easy for 47, kinda tough for the 57. martial arts: 11cs..3..cs..112..shoulder charge. Just make sure that the last 112 is high so you have time for the shoulder rush. Even if your not right on the money you can still end with a shoulder charge and it will probably connect. Doesn't need to be exact as other fighter's combos. And you don't need to hold forward during this combo. I was able to do his 57% using the controller 2. This one is as hard as sheeva but it istricky. The good news is that youdon't need to hold forward and the 11 pokes don't have to be unreasonable high. Just visually notice that as soon as his hands come back in after the 11 string..do it again like in a rythum. So 11cs..cs..11..112..rush (FF2). Tricky but far easier than sheeva.
Sheeva - 52-67-76-90%. HARD. Screw trying to do her 90%. 52% is plenty and its EASY. Go for the 76 or 90 if you want to be easily frustrated. I will provide the 52%. Weapon: B+1..1..cs..22cs3/4 (use 3 or 4 to end). You don't even need to hold forward or anything. Now her 76 and 90 are crazy. They involve missing the 1 in 22cs1 during the combo and immediately changing stance and doing 22cs1 or whatever all over again. Pat yourself on the back if can even do this one.I finally have been able to do her 67%. yeah! As of this morning (11/23/06) I was able to do sheeva's 76%.Happy thanksgiving present I guess. Basically do her B+1 launch in weapon..tap forward..wait a split second and tap 1 and then immediately hold foward and complete the two strings of cs22cs1.cs22cs3. It is hard because your going so fast that the 1 at the end of 22cs1 misses. This is the only way to complete it. Now if you start holding forward before your poke of 1..sheeva will turn around and start juggling the opponet in the opposite direction. That's fine as long as your prepared for it.
Shinnok - 43% Easy: In weapon: U+1..44..cs..44cs. I have tried his combos ending with 244cs but the cs will always miss so 44cs is his best ender for martial arts stance. It is best if you can do the 2 poke in weapon early so you have enough time to switch stances and end with 44cs.
Shujinko - 42% Easy. Shujinko is broken in two ways. First of all his attacks that he stole from other fighters only weaken his combos if used. I remeber back in MKD when he could do an honest 74% without using any glitches or cheats. In weapon: spear: U+2..cs..112B+2.
Sindel - 48-50-67-72% Moderate: In weapon: U+1..(scream if you want more time but not necessary).cs..111..11cs43. Probably take a step forward but no need to hold it. Do the initial 111 pokes early but not as early as other fighter's combos. Then try to do the last string of 11cs43 very late. If you don't do it late then the 3 at the end will miss.Her 48 is a bit different:. Weapon: U+1..44..cs..11cs43. you need to do the 44 as quick as you can and also the last string early. The 3 at the end has a tendancy to miss and it doesn't hit low even though it looks like it should.Her insanely difficult one works on p2 only. In weapon: U+1.cs.111.11cs4..cs..11cs4..44 = 72%. I can't finish with 44 so I end with 3 for 67%. Check told me that ending with 443 will miss the last hit. So 44 is all so far.Tought combo to do. i got it(12/24) against motaro. The key is to tap forward and start your first 111 string early. The other tip is to change stance and start your 11cs4 string faster than the animation would lead you to believe. So U+1.cs.111.11cs4..cs+11cs4..44 is kinda what it looks like.
Smoke - 45-49% Not to Hard: Judo stance: 44B+2..cs..D+1.D+1.124cs. The only thing to concentrate on is moving forward after the 44B+2 so that you can land two ducking D+1's before doing his branch combo of 124cs. I'm told he can do a jumpkick and cloud combo with the same as above only using one d+1 and get 49%. I can only get this to work by cheating. Either by putting smoke's back to the wall or a stage weapon.
Sonya - 39-41-44% Hard...for me. The timing is weird and the last hits look like they shouldn't even connect. Martial arts: 2..cs..1124..11. I have finally landed this as of last night (12/14/06). You will want to take a step forward after the pop up of 2 in martial arts and then time it so that the last hit in 1124 hits way high and kinda off screen. Use that to creep forward and pray that you can land two phantom hits with 11. Definately not easy. I have been testing her B+3 in weapon as a poke. Check found a higher sonya combo by ending with 11B+2 or 11cs in tae kwon do. Nukes came through and found a way to connect with 112 in kali sticks as an ender. It was against mavado but he raised sonya's max % to 44. nice job nukesogboom.
Stryker - 37-38%. Martial arts: (2)B+1..22..cs..B+211U+1. If you only use one 2 as a poke it will be 38% yet two pokes with 22 is 37%...strange. Just remember to follow the opponet after the pop up and maybe even after the poke(s) with 2. Other than that do the last chain late or some hits may miss. His alternate 37 is this: Martial arts: (2)B+1..221..B+1,3.
Sub-Zero - 49-52-56-57-61%. Medium. Martial arts: DU2 (Ice pillar)..12..124..rush. If you do the last 124 too early your 4 will miss. If too late then the rush won't hit. Start out by being very close and do the 12 and hold forward part of the time to follow them. his 52% is harder. Shokan stance: du2..32..124..rush. have fun with this one. you can also end with 2 in weapon for either combo and the % will be the same. Using the parry cancel, sub can get 56-57 or higher. Check pointed this out to me. Shokan: DU2.12.12.PC12..rush = 57%. I tried ending with 113cs but only the 3 or the cs connects for me. Connecting with 11(3)cs will be 56%. I recently tried this against motaro and got 61% with the 1(1)3cs as my ender. I hope this also works against smaller fighters.
Tanya - 50% Easy. Her weapon is crazy though. Jax,stryker, and tanya all have this similar weapon but its suped up for her. Same combo as Jax yet his is 42% and her's is 50%. Weapon: B+2B+1..B+211U+1. I tried doing B+2B+1.drill kick. B+211U+1 but it only goes to 49%. I also tried B+2B+1.cs.D+1.32cs4 but that is only 46%. Too bad.
Taven - 46% hard but not as impossible as others. Weapon: B+2..3..cs..1.1.112cs. The timing here is incredible. You need to do the 3 in weapon insanely quick and then be able to take baby steps here and there as you poke with 1 in martial arts before going into his 112cs branch combo. Do this one late as the 2 in 112cs has a tendancy to miss sometimes.

Check: Cyrax 40+, Chamelon 50+, jarek 61-66, Kabal 52-53, Mokap 50 (I didn't think it was possible but he proved it using the p2 controller), Motaros' alt poke method by using batterning ram and also extending the combos to 51% w/o wall. Reptile 32-36 alternate method, quan chi 45, Sheeva 90, and shinnok 43, sindel 67-72. also a ton of new p2 combos that i had overlooked since i thought they simply didn't work(mavado, sub-zero, ermac,etc.). he listed them near the bottom of the thread. kitana, daegon, scorpion,etc.
Shinnok 40, Drahmin 37, and Chamelon 50+ were from other members of this forum and I will not take credit for the discovery. M2dave gets the credit for motaro's 50%.
All other combos I learned by myself. When the game came out I refrained from reading combo posts so that I could learn them myself. I know other people have probably submitted whatever they find out immediately after they find it but I for one wanted to go into this cold and then later have the pleasure of saying..."Without help I found X number of combos myself".
Also, I credited the people as I learned from them. This doesn't mean that no one else ever knew about the combo. Some one in Japan probably figured out the Ermac 50% combo the same time i did but neither of us posted it. This means that I do not owe anyone "royalties" if they submitted a combo and I'm taking credit for it if I originaly found it by myself. Games are meant to be enjoyed so there is no war on this issue. Thanks for reading. 38

Check has found that the player 2 slot allows for some combos to work that dont on the player 1 slot, he found this in mk:deception. the example would be the ashrah combo shown in MK: Evolution: Kriss: spin, 22, 4, cs 221cs.
in the future you might consider expanding your list to include normal air combos but that is entirely up to you, i enjoy regular MK:Deception style juggles as much as the next player so id be happy to talk all day about those. you could add the fighting style names if you wanted instead of saying 'martial arts' lol. you could do some videos and put them on youtube if you wanted, might add a bit of flair, but a combo discussion alone is great too. nice job JFcalibur!!

I agree check that there are too many combo threads but I was hoping this would just be a small one designed to help people pull off these combos. Sometimes just seeing the combo isn't enough to figure out how to do it. Like with sektor's 57% you have to interrupt the cs in 11cs quickly (like a cancel) and then change stance so you can even walk up toward the falling guy quickly, and then pull out the 11cs all over again and be close enough so that the last hit won't miss. Not easy in my book.
I have a hard time with kabal and I am curious why it is easier to finish with 112cs but never 114 or even 11B+1? finishing with 11B+1 was my original goal but i can't get it to work. Nice work on the shao kahn and shinnok combos. Thanks for your dedication check. later.

I found some new things with sonya. I know it doesn't top her strange looking 39% but try this: Do 2 as your pop up in martial arts and then do B+3 in weapon as your poke. Get the timing down and I'm sure this will surpass her 39 if some of the good players here can take this info and apply it because i gave up after a while.
About the kenshi thing. The first 3 pokes are easy for me. I do the U+2 in weapon and switch stances as fast as possible. In fact I have been able to land 5 pokes with 2 before. Not that I'm great or anything but after enough practice you kind of get a rythum, like when playing basketball. After doing his slam, on the same combo, hold forward and time your pokes as quickly as you can. You can only land 3 IMO before you have to do an end for the combo since 4 pokes won't seem to reach. If it did this would put kenshi in 50% bracket.
I tried some more with shao kahn but I still can't do two strings of 11. As with cyrax i have the same problem so I'm limited to 40. I am open for tips to guys. There is still around 8 or so legit combos that I cannot do.

JFCalibur88- damn 2 hours on the sektor 57? you are overworking yourself man. also Check has a 73 chameleon regular juggle. sheeva is very hard, gotta time it so that last hit in 22cs1 misses, recovery is insane, thanks to Check for finding that.
this sheeva 76 is easier but not her highest:
shokan blades: b1 1 cs 22cs1 (miss last hit) cs 22cs3=76%

So far the only two I know about are the following:
Ashrah: Weapon: Spin(DU3..22..4..cs..221cs. (nukesgoboom told me this one)
Shao Kahn: Martial arts: 11cs..cs..11..112..rush. (check provided this one).
Mokap: B+1..11..11..1134. (from check). I had tried before but one attack will miss so you only get 45% or less.

kriss: spin, 22, 4, cs, 221cs=52%
although chao jaio u4 is the same power as spin cycle, it has more delay so cs 22, 4 would be impossible and you would still get the same damage anyway because they are exactly equal.

73% use this combo in weapon stance.
13..44..cs..111U+4..111U+4..rush. This was by check i believe but i thought it was a controller 2 only combo. I did it yesterday and the trick is to do the 44 after 13 with almost no delay... as if you were doing 1344 in a sense. then immediately do the 111U+4 string. you will then need to hold forward and allow chameleon to take a baby step so that the U+4 in his second string of 111U+4 will connect. End with the rush and there you go. I have tried ending with 44 in martial arts but I seem to be too far away. So this is his best legit open air combo.
More tips on getting kira's 44. Do her 44U+4 and immediately hold forward. once you see her take steps press 44 again. Then, unlike other combos, continue to hold forward and do the 4412cs string as late as possible. I have that problem and so far can only get 40% because the 2 in 4412cs misses. This string needs to be so late that it will look like the enemy is stiff as a board and barely floating above the ground. only then will the full 4412cs hits connect.
I found an easier 38% for sonya that doesn't invlove the phantom last 11 hits. Do her 2 in martial arts and quickly cs and take a very small hop forward. Do her B+3 in weapon immediately as an air poke. Sonya should turn so that her back is what is facing the camera. Then at the last second do 1124b+3. If all connect it will be 38%. Eventually, using this strategy, I hope to top her 39% combo.
Quan chi has an alternate 43% that is much harder.
Do the following in escrima:
213B+2..d+1..344cs. If i could do the 2344cs i know it would go higher but i can't get it yet. hopefully this will up him to 44% or even 45%. I'll add more tips as I go.

makes you wonder, if you can get that to work on p1 maybe you can get the ashrah 52 to work on p1? i have tried, TRUST ME, but i can only get it to work on player 2 slot.

Right now the video is around 17 minutes long and around 160 mb after compression. It will be s-vid 320x240 with x264 compression so mpc will be needed in order to view it.
The only hold up is my trying to capture more combos. I technically could release it now but i want to keep trying.

JFCalibur88 - i thought you had the sonya 39 already? you told me you were able to do it lol. ashrah 52 is hard but not impossible, try motaro as the opponnent. sheeva 90 is near impossible though lol.
ah so you are going to use x264? very cool i salute that decision. are you going to use MEgui and export to the .mp4 container? remember that .mp4 handles x264 better and has access to more features of x264 that pinnacle/virtualdub DONT because they use the .dll and NOT the .exe version of x264. MEgui does. cant wait to see what you have put together man.

Unfortunately i've been not using the megui container format. I may in time but my concern right now is my audio. Clips I captured before I got my new pc sound good. The ones captured with "realtek audio manager" (the default sound engine for the PC) sound quieter. So this means i may need to re-capture some of the earlier ones or just adjust levels. I may just do the last option.
I've been going through mkda and sorry but I hate the combo system. Air pokes are harder and almost extinct. i am playing deception currently and trying new methods to find higher combos. i now have ashra to 62% and baraka to 49%. His 49% is definately way easier to do in MKA than in MKD.

using a jump kick to set your combo seems to work fine. Especially for scorpion since he wouldn't have to do 3 b+1's and he would still get higher.

as for scorpion, his 53% is online, offline one of the axe kicks misses, and u only get 49%
same with smoke, as far as i know, his jumpkick into bf 2 only works online, although u could always do a cloud, jumpover kick into the cloud for the same damage i think
kitanas damage was 62 or 64, i think 64, i found it a long long time ago

i actually spent the night playing some mkd, wow, how different it was, i had somuch trouble doing everything, it was like the first time i ever played it, no matter what i did, i could not get used to opponent flying off the top of the screen and not being able to see and time the drop, as well as a few buffers, but damn, what a night............i think the biggest shock was the ts drop, i never realized how fast it was, now thats sad

having said that, there are many combos that exceed our highest % because of using this helpful controller two thing.
here are some p2 only examples. Which means if you can't do them it was probably because you originally tried them uing player one controller.
ashra 52
daegon - somehting over 55% because using 112 twice
nightwolf - ending with 111cs insted of 23 rush (i still can't get to work)
kitana - not sure on the timing but it might be easier with p2 controller to do two sets of 11 as pokes in weapon.
There are many more and I'm happy to get the updates but some of these are practically impossible. So the list at the top was originally designed for combos that are done on normal player one conroller. As the list grows, I will adjust it. I hope everyone is finally happy now. I could try harder but some of these combos just take me hours because I'm not as good as the next guy.
