Yes it is indeed time for another one of these threads. Well atleast I think so since my top 10 list has changed a lot in the past year or so. I figure perhaps same with some of you. Plus these threads are always fun imo. Oh and sorry if this isn't the right forum, but I wasn't sure where to make this thread.

Go ahead and type a small paragraph telling why you like that character or w/e if you'd like also. I'd read it atleast!

#10 - Nitara

Nitara in MKDA is such a great character. One of very very few female MK chars I even like. Even though the whole vampire thing did seem some what out of place in the MK universe for some reason (atleast to me), she was so great gameplay wise being tons of fun for me to play. Also great character design for her. I especially like that she has big wings so she isn't atleast like the same old same old vampire you see in other stuff. I hope to see her return to MK soon.

#9 - Scorpion furious

I've always thought Scorpion was a kool character ever since MK1 like many MK and even non-MK fans. He was never a "Fav" of mine back in the old MK days though. MK1-UMK3 I'd play with him here and there. Not nearly as much as my top 4 favs though. It wasn't till MKDA that he actually got onto my "Top 10" list. He is simply the best in MKDA and I found myself playing as him the most. At this point he was #5 on my list. Then came along MKD and for not a whole lot more reason than I just love his alt in MKD especially that in his alt he has more like an axe than a spear at the end of that rope. I think that is just so awsome! Although Baraka I really like in MKD and he became my #5 bumping Scorpion down to #6. Now with MK Shaolin Monks I'm liking Scorpion even more. Dispite him being #9 now, I've never liked Scorpion as much as I do now. He is just a very kool character. "Get over her, Bitch!"

#8 - Raiden wow

MK1 and MK2 I enjoyed playing with the Thunder God. More so in MK1. I never considered him a "Fav" of mine though. Come along MKDA i didn't really have interest in Raiden and never really played with him. Although one day I started to play with Raiden more and more and actually mastered his combos and such wich wasn't the easiest thing to do with those long ass combos of his. Still didn't considder him a fav at that point. Come along MKD and Raiden with a big twist in his story I really really liked. Now that I think about it I do like Raiden in every MK game I've played. I've always been pretty good with him too dispite I don't play with him as much as others. Well Raiden I'm considdering as a fav of mine now. He has always been such a great character.

#7 - Jade

Funny actually.... I use to hate Jade. Then comes MKD and she is just.... well so hot in MKD lol. Started playing with her and even though she isn't the best in MKD, I was able to kick ass with her and I was having fun. Then I go some time and play UMK3 and decided I should expand who I play with in UMK3. Well since I was a Jade fan in MKD now I decided to play with her in UMK3. Now I can kick some ass with her and really like her in UMK3 after hateing her in UMK3 for some reason for so many years. Never thought a character I once hated would become a fav of mine.

#6 - Ermac

Ermac in UMK3 I liked, but didn't play with a whole lot. Although him along with Rain, Noob Saibot, Nightwolf, and a couple other characters I'd play with here and there kinda like taking a break from my regulares. It wasn't till MKD that he became a fav of mine. In MKD he looks so awsome, has one awsome story line, and well not best gameplay wise, but fun to play with if you know how to use him. Really I think it is his story line and the direction it is going that has made me into such a fan of Ermac.

#5 - Mavado

Sure I hated him at first like many people cuz he just sucked gameplay wise. True that in MKDA he is one of the worse gameplay wise. His story and bad ass look and those red hooks (for some reason) really attracted me to this character. Well after mastering him I could play just fine with him even though he is one of the worse gameplay wise. Sure often was a lil bit hard to win all the time useing him, but I really really grew to like him so much. Oh and I LOVE his fatality in MKDA. Animation messed up some, but that fatality always put a smile on my face.

#4 - Sektor

Sektor... #4 and has been and always will be my #4 fav character in MK. My top 4 favs are my main favs that ultimately can decide how much I like wich MK game. Sektor, LK-9T9 (I think), I just love this missle luanching, teleport uppercutting, flame throwing, compacting S.O.B.! He just has such a badass attitude. I wish some day he will have a ending of him causeing massive damage and that ending being canon.

#3 - Sub-Zero

His Kori powers is the main reason I love this character. The freeze move is one of the best single special moves ever in MK, if not the best. I always enjoyed freezing my opponent and walking over to do a uppercut or combo and take my sweet time as well. Story wise Sub-Zero has had a great story line. Not always the most exciting, but pretty good. Sub-Zero in MKD is my fav Sub-Zero cuz of his new look wich I love, his fatalities that I love, and atleast in my hands he is like the best character in the game. Also Sub-Zero has always been and always will be in every MK fighter. He will always be there for me. So if some how Boon chooses a roster full of characters I don't like (besides Scorpion and Raiden), I know I'll have atleast Subby.

#2 - Reptile

MK2-UMK3 it was a back and forth struggle between Reptile and Sub-Zero of who is my #2 fav. Well eventually decided on Reptile. What I love about Reptile is he is just so unique. Sure every (or about every) character in MK is unique in their own way, but I find Reptile to be the most unique. Reason is is cuz no other MK character is like him what so ever. Reptile after all is a different race from all the others. Besides the pallet swap costumes in the old MK's, he has nothing in comon with any other MK character besides the slide move with Sub-Zero in MK2 and UMK3. Well that isn't the only reason he is #2 for me. Well personally out of all the ninja's, Reptile always looked best imo. Yes I'm talking about the pallet swaps. That costume in Green just looked better than in red, blue, yellow, ect imo. Then his story... I've always liked how he mainly just wants his race back. I've always thought of Reptile as more neutral cuz of that. His fatalities I've always loved also. Really just every thing about him I love.

#1 - Liu Kang

Obviouse from my username I'd guess. Anyways Liu Kang in MK1 I didn't really like all that much to tell the truth. Wasn't till MK2 that he became and forever has been my fav. Reason why it wasn't till MK2 is cuz he improved so much in MK2. Had a much better look. Atleast not being really really plain. Also addition of the low fire ball and bicycle kick. To top it off for me was his Dragon Fatality. My fav fatality. I guess I just have a thing for dragons.... Anyways that is how he became my fav. Comes MKDA and I was so excited for that game. Saw intro at a friends where Liu gets killed. At the moment I was no longer a MK fan and didn't buy MKDA (bought MKDA eventually about 7 months before MKD came out). It wasn't till when Liu Kang was confirmed to be playable in MKD till I bought MKDA and became a fanboy of MK again. I never thought my fav character would come back from the dead. I'm sure glad I decided to check out stuff on MKD though so I found out he would be back. So Liu Kang in MKD.... They killed my fav character and brought him back better than ever! The death of Liu Kang I can see now was actually a plus for Liu Kang. It was a story line twist much needed for Liu. Then bringing him back as a zombie was awsome. Love his Zombie look in MKD. Well I love this character. I mean love him so much I couldn't stand to play MK any more for a while cuz I thought he was going to be gome forever. I forgive Boon, but he better not pull such a stunt again with Liu!
So many character threads lately....

10. Quan Chi- Just an evil bastard who makes it so that no matter what the outcomes he wins and you lose (Scorpion and Sub-Zero can attest to this)

9. Johnny Cage- The comic relief of the story, he provides much needed humor to an otherwise dark story. Although he has the weakest storyline of them all.

8. Shang Tsung- The first villian of Mortal Kombat and a damn good character to use.

7. Noob Saibot- Who was once a joke character who's true identity turned out to be one of the best twists in the MK storyline.

6. Reptile- Poor guy wants to be with his people, but that chance always slips through his fingers.

5. Sub-Zero- Well, I gotta admit, he has gotten the best character development out of anyone else in the series.

4. Kung Lao- A Shaolin man of peace, a reluctant hero who only fights when he has to. (At least until Shaolin Monks fucked him up)

3. Raiden- The God of Thunder and the mentor/leader of Earth's warriors.

2. Liu Kang- The main hero and an inspiration to the other heroes like Kitana, although he needs more character development for his own story, he plays a role in a lot of other character's stories.

1. Scorpion- The badass anti-hero and you can't go wrong with "GET OVER HERE!" and the vow storyline provided a great depth to his character, until the MK Team decided to go and make him into a incompetant jackass that is.

There is a big surpise at the bottem.

10.SCORPION- Everyone loves him, hes very cool and from hell1 plus his spear move is unbeatable, no body's move can ever top that one!

9.NITARA- lets start off with nitara, Shes a cool vampire chick who I admire because of her moves and style, Normally a vampire fighter would mess up a game, But nitara pulled it off.

8.BARAKA- This guy is so cool because NOBODY would ever think of a guy who can ake his blade out of his arms, plus his teeth and his role are too cool! i liked playing with him because he was the only character who was forever evil.

7.MILEENA-you may be surprised that she this high in the list but I still like her a lot, to twell the truth, I never liked her in MK2, until i discovers her role and her purpose, which was what really got my attention and made me play with her more often.

6.CYRAX- I loved him since MK3, MKG, and MKDa because his robotness. I like that idea of a ninja cyborg and his moves, the net, the bombs and the spinning slicer, Plus his Fatality is soooo cool.

5.RAIDEN- The BESt. I luv this guy so much and have ever since MK1, favorite character in MK1 because of his style and moves, and the higher we got into the games, the more I liked him, Except for Deception which is what brought him down from 2 to 5!

4.ERMAC- I liked him in UMK3, he was so fun which was surprising because I didn't like any other people who were dressed in his clothes. MKD was a big success for Ermac, he came through with a good return, excellent moves and amazingly cool costumes. His story was good and so is his gameplay.

3.KITANA- I didn't like Kitana much in MK2, but she was still a little fun. She got her buzz in UMK3, when she was a lot more fun to play with. MK4, is when I liked her alot, and DA was so fun with her, her style is just too clever: the fans.

2.JADE- MK2: I wanted to play with her because kitana wasn't enough, I liked baraka the most at the time but I wanted to play with at least on girl, but Kitana wasn't enough, but I did get used to her. UMK3: Boy you should have seen to look on my face when I saw her's on the selection screen! Deception: Her beauty mostly caught my eye, and she still never lost her touch.

and my favorite character is...

1. SINDEL!!!- I just luv her style, her power and her story (in MK3). She has good and original moves, she has a cool outfit and pimped out eyes. I play with her whenever someone bets they can beat me if they can beat me in combat, and she never let me down so far. She's just so fun to use and she never fails to give me a good time (while playing deceptionwink )

10. SCORPION: the poster boy of MK has saved himself with the MKD story turning him from the dead plot circling around revenge for his family, his clan, his drinked up glass of milk..whatever. A good concept what is not completely ruined with too much emphasis on hellish powers or anything "extraterrestial". He is just a dead ninja. Thats why I like him.

9. MILEENA: never liked Kitana after MK2. Mileena is MKD's best rewamp and I hope she gets more ahead witha plotline independent from the poster girl with the fans (no pun intended). Pull M. and K. aside for now.

8. SUB-ZERO: ninjas should slowly move outward from the spotlight. I still like Subs to a degree. But not with the blind arrogance of youngster. Ninja -umm- an MK ninja doesn't necessarily equals a good character, infact, all ninjas had or have major problems.

7. HSU HAO: looks like my dad, save he's caucasian.

6. KANO: bald headed bastard no.2. I just love the attitude. (not the Trevor Goddard one though. That was cheezy...)

5. MOLOCH: actually a sub-boss not cliched, not overly disfigurative and with a solid background story. And, he actually partakes in everything via Drahmin during MKDA.

4. DAIROU: his storyline was vaild, although had nothing to do with the main plot. Thats why it's good. And his whole faily killed plotline is far more better than Scorpions ever was. And he is ownage to play, to experience and at last..a fighter tht actually dresses as a fighter.

3. QUAN CHI: inhumanly powerfull and rrogant. Brutal, a counterpart to Tsung's finesse and deliquent(?) decadence. Quan Chi is a puritanistevil in the very meaning of the word evil. He, they owned Raiden badly.

2. HOTARU: clearly represent the traits what I admire the most. And I have enver experienced someone who was actualy fighting for beliefs in morals and that to a level of being even capable for killing for it. Plus, the only character responible for anything. Let's see what he may become.

1. SHANG TSUNG: mentally the most sophisticated character, a true lowly bastard rat who's self sustaneous curse s actually the biggest weapon of torment Imo. masterfuly devised look in MK1(gosh, chinese men in japane-se kimono's?) and MKDA (friggin' rocks). Decadent, reckless, humorous in MK2 (being the smallest of the chars). Shang could own anyone.

10- Raiden
When I first played MK1 when it came out I, like many others, flocked to the ninjas. However, when I started to branch out I discovered Raiden and was pleased to discover I was pretty good with him. This trend continued into MK2 and Raiden at the time became my favorite non-ninja character. I also grew to really like his story and character. At that period. At the time, he wasn't yet an official good guy and still just an angry pissed off mystical dude who shot lightning bolts at people 'cause he was bored. However, after MK2 he became the designated "Protector of Earth" and became the more mellow, benevolent Raiden we know now, and my interest in him waned....although I did still like him. However with Deception and Raiden going into a crazy mode again, my interest in Raiden has once again become rejuvenated.

9- Mileena
I always liked Mileena since she first appeared in MK2....but in a general sort of way. I didn't really become attached to her until I realized just how tragic her story is. When I saw this, I also saw all the subtle complexities in her character and storyline and Mileena's stock in my book shot up pretty fast. She's still got a lot of untapped potential that I hope gets fulfilled.

8- Sektor
At first, I liked Cyrax better. Cyrax had the fancy net, the cool name, and the more dynamic story. Sektor just seemed very dull. But eventually, my interest in Cyrax faded away, then I later saw Sektor's MK Gold ending. Starts out exactly like Cyrax's ending. Then at the end: Sektor walks in, looks around, fires a dozen missiles, walks out, doesn't say a word. And suddenly, I got Sektor. Then everything I originally didn't like about him was cool. He doesn't need fancy weapons or gimmicks. He doesn't need the dynamic shit. He's just Sektor. All business. Just a purely driven, calculating machine. Like a fusion of the Terminator, Predator, and Agent Smith. Bad ass.

7- Sub-Zero
Ahhh...what hasn't been said about Sub-Zero?

6- Scorpion
Let me start out by saying that pre-retcon Scorpion was my Number 1. Pre-retcon Scorpion was my boy. My go-to guy since day 1. Loved everything about him. Not just his moves and the standrad hellspawn shit, but there was something deeper underneath it. He was the anti-hero. When it mattered, he'd do the right thing. He was guy who'd lost everything, but was trying to retain some semblence of his honor. There was tragedy and nobility there, and that was what made Scorpion my #1. Like I said, that was pre-retcon. I actually hate post-retcon Scorpion....however, as much as I despise what they've done to his story, I can't let go of Scorpion completely just yet and call me crazy, but I still retain some vague hope that Scorpion will one day return to his pre-retcon days of glory. So he's been demoted.

5- Sareena
Sareena was love at first sight. I was immediately intrigued by her appearence. That this Demon assassin was so desperate to escape the Netherealm and Quan Chi, that she was willing to risk her life to get out. I also picked up on the vague hints that she and Sub-Zero may have liked each other, so when she "died" I was left wanting to know more about this Sareena and what her deal was. And upon discovering in MK:TE that she's alive my interest in her shot up(in spite of the hint that she may betray Sub-Zero which I don't care for), to the point where, yes, I rank much higher than I probably should. I'll admit, a lot of what I like about Sareena is speculation(and my fondness for Goth chicks), but let me say this: if Sareena's story developes in any way like I hope it will....she's jumping up to the number 2 spot.

4- Reiko
Yeah that's right: Reiko. As I said with Sareena, I liked her and her apparent demise left me wanting more. Now here comes MK4 and a dude named Reiko. At first I paid little mind to him until I discovered in a preview somewhere that he was going to have some sort of connection to Sareena. Later seeing a pic of him and noticing a vague resemblence between the two, I thought to myself Reiko was going to provide the follow-up or closure on Sareena left over from Mythologies(which would've made sense woundn't it?). So going into MK4, I was already interested in Reiko. However, like everyone, my interest went unfulfilled upon discovering Reiko's "story" and ending. Or lack thereof. As I usually do, I tried to fill in the blanks myself and interpreted Reiko's story as: Reiko is in some way or another connected or related to Sareena and after he is thought to be killed during the war, he somehow learns it was really Shinnok who killed Sareena. In his ending he has destroyed Shinnok, avenged Sareena, and simply returns to wherever he came from. The end. (And that, sports fans, was the early genesis of my "Reiko & Sareena" fan fic) Reiko also was one of my best characters to use, which isn't saying much considering it was MK4, but as I continued playing and in spite of the Shao Kahn mask nonsense that came after, my interpretation of Reiko grew into something I really like and would consider one of my favorite characters. (and those who've read my Reiko fan fic know: my version of Reiko is pretty damn cool) And the beauty part is: there's still nothing canon that says my version is wrong.

3- Quan Chi
Mythologies introduced him as "The root of evil." And, IMO, he lived up to that in spades. I'll tell yeh now, I'm a sucker for the "hidden threat" evils. The third powers. So I loved that while everyone was worried about Shao Kahn and Shinnok, it was really Quan Chi who was the real threat. He used real cunning and manipulation to get where he is. Unlike many of MK's other villains who's idea of cunning is "I'll serve this guy for a while, then when I get the chance I'll kill him." Quan Chi actually had a plan that involved patience and manipulation. Best example is everything that happens from MK: Mythologies to MK1. When all was said and done, he had Shinnok's Amulet, Scorpion as his undead weapon, and Noob Saibot as his dutiful slave. Win, win, win. Another thing I like about Quan Chi, and I'll admit this is partially just my interpretation of his character, but he seems so sadistic. And I mean that in the literal sense; he takes pleasure in making other people miserable. Other villains ruin lives just to acheive their goals....for Quan Chi, it's more of a hobby.

2- Noob Saibot
Noob Saibot became an instant favorite simply on the basis that I could not believe they made him a real character. In MK2 he was so obviously a joke, not meant to be taken seriously. Then in UMK3 they made him a playable character with his own moves. Then Trilogy did one better by giving him his own story...and a good story at that! Like I said earlier, I love hidden threats in stories. And Noob Saibot represented the third power. During the great war between Earth and Outworld, Noob Saibot represented a third power that was watching and waiting the whole time. Thought that was cool. I also like that they made something out of his appearence. In MK2, he was just a half-assed black swap. Then in Trilogy we learn that IS his appearence and he's a like a living shadow. Also just thought he himself was cool: acting as the bad guys' shadowy enforcer, all about getting his job done. And now we've learned that he was the original Sub-Zero, who I actually liked more than the younger to begin with. So on top of everything else, Noob Saibot is also a tragic character to boot. Unbelievable.

1- Kitana
With Scorpion demoted, my girl Kitana has finally taken the top spot. Loved her since she first appeared. Always enjoy using her. IMO, the best looking female. And sometimes I forget because the novelty's worn off, but the fans are pretty damn cool. But most of all it's her story, which IMO, is the best in all of MK. She grows up evil, believing serving Shao Kahn was her place only for that life to fall apart. But she picks up the pieces and builds a new life for herself and continues to persevere and fight despite all the shit she goes through. That, IMHO, makes Kitana more of a "hero" than a lot of the other "heroes" in the game. A rich backstory, with still a lot of untapped potential, and still many places it can go. Also IMO, the most interesting character; with her change from evil to good, father/daughter relationship with Shao Kahn, rivalry with Mileena, along with numerous other relationships; all of which also contains much untapped potential. I could go on and on about Kitana.

10: Cage: He's awsome, pure and simple.

9: Ermac: Psychic ninjas rule.

8: Rain: Don't let the purple fool you. He's a blast to play as.

7: Cyrax: Robot ninja. Enough said.

6: Scorpion: Ninja Badass from hell with a living harpoon. Enough said.

5: Kira: Red heads are hot.

4: Baraka: You havn't lived until you see his chibi form in MK deception puzzle mode.

3: Sektor: Robot ninja with a squisher. Enough said.

2: Nitara: Chinese vampire hot chicks with unique fashions rule. Especially ones that are manipulative, clever, and have sickles.

1: Shao Kahn: 100 paces from your emporer. You! 20 paces sir! Combine it with his taunts, costume, hammer, and Bad assness and you have yourself the pinnacle of Videogame villians.

Honorable mention: Sareena: It's too early to like her, for she was only an NPC in Mythologies, and essentially a mix and match of all female warriors in MK deadly allience in the GBA exclusive tourny edition. I just love her appearence and storyline. Don't forget the mystery behind her, for we never got too much of a taste of her.And the way she finishes off Quan chi if you spare her in Mythologies is cool.

10.Sub-Zero-He has some nice freezing attacks i enjoy using him at times but hes not really a character that i would use all the time

9.Jade-I like Jade because she has nice special attacks. But what made me put her on this list was her fatality in MKT where she shakes the opponent until their skin comes off. It was totally awesome

8.Kabal-Fun to use and does great amounts of damage in MK3

7.Scorpion-A fun character to use in all of the MKs imo

Well I've replied to alot of these so I'll do it again.

10)Sub-Zero- He's pretty good, but his storyline got me mad. I would be playing with a completely different Sub-Zero than the last game. I just got a little sick of him. There's one in EVERY game and one of them had an adventure.

9)Liu Kang- NO HE ISN'T NUMBER ONE. Liu Kang is NOT the best character. I liked him from MK1-MK4. He got annoying, but every once in a while I play with him.

8)Tanya- I thought she was evil because of her storyline about how she sort of helped Shinnok. She was fun, but a boomerang was a strange choice for a game that has close combat.

7)Darrius- I thought he sucked at first, until I got beat in arcade by Darrius. Then I liked him. His altername costume is hilarious.

6)Johnny Cage- My favorite character in MK1. The actor thing was pretty funny at first and then I saw those sunglasses. I was laughing for days. But his storyline sucks. He didn't really contribute to anything happening. He dies. Comes back. Whoooo........

5)Ermac- He seemed mysterious and that was always cool. Red was my favorite color next to blue anyway. He could've been in more games too.

4)Kitana- She looked cool in MK2. I played with her and I still lovce her. Blue is my favorite color. Everyone has a flaw, and her's is her crazy hair. I know MK isn't very realistic, but the length of her hair in MKDA was ridiculous. Her hair will be her downfall.

3)Frost- I consider the best character in MKDA. She looked scary and weak, but she was really good. They BETTER bring her back.

2)Mileena- The best girl ever. I like how she went completely skank because it worked for her story. A good story needs some kind of twist, and her lover being Baraka did that. Her special attacks are cool and those teeth are freaky...but in a good way.

1)Jax- Hopefully if you look at my avatar, you can tell that I like Jax. I picked him in MK2 while trying out the new characters. He replaced Johnny Cage. In MK3, he had metal arms. That did it. He was my favorite then. Then MK4 came, and I was glad he was there. Everything went animated. I wasn't going to even get MK4 if it wasn't like every other fighting game. In MKDA, Jax's status went to a horrible low. That hat was hideous, the gun was a little weird, and he had like no moves! Oh well... I'm sure he'll be better in Armageddon.

10: Mavado: One of 2 playable Red Dragon Clan members. his moves were shit but his combos were cool, and he can use the Hookswords a lot better than Kabal
