Ok we all remember the first mortal kombat. We had two ninjas that was kool. Then we had the second MK and we had 3 ninjas, 2 ninja chicks, and 1 secret ninja, and 1 secret ninja chick. Then 3 was kinda crappy getting rid of ninjas and replacing them with cyborgs which scared the shit out of a lot of people, then MK:4 and MK: Trilogy came out this is when the ninjas poured in. Let's see...

1. Scorpion
2. Sub-Zero
3. Ermac
4. Rain
5. Reptile
6. Kitana
7. Millena
8. Jade

Is it just me or should they bring some back, like Rain, and "Ninja" Reptile he was cool in DA but he would be cooler in Ninja, and Ermac look more ninja, sub-zero and scorpion looks bad-ass enough.

So what do you think?

I don't know. Before MKD, I'd have said no, becuase of the stupid number of pallete swaps. But since MKD took many of them and gave them their own looks and styles, maybe another ninja could be cool, as long as they don't have too many in one single game. In, let's say a cast of 24 fighters, I'd say a maximum of six ninja characters to avoid ninja overkill.

I'd like to see a traditional ninja, with no special powers, but fighting with historical ninja weapons like shuriken, smoke bombs, etc, and martial arts moves. Kinda like Stryker (Who I really like), but with old fashioned weapons rather than modern. And he or she would have to have completely their own look. A while ago I started work on a female ninja like this.

Reptile should, imo, stay as the lizard man, as it makes him unique and interesting. I like his MKSM makeover, which mixes the best of both ninja and monster. And I think they should make Smoke into his MKD etheral form, with the ability to become like a ghost and solid at will.

No more cyborgs. Sektor can stay, Smoke should be how I described above. Never liked Cyrax at all, sorry. They don't fit too well, and there's not much interesting you can do with a robot except the "killer cyborg" or "cyborg finds it's human soul", both of which we already have. Would you count Reiko and Tanya as ninjas? Tanya was "created" using Kitana's original model, and let's face it, Reiko's model was just a recoloured, unmasked Sub Zero. Neither are characters I wanna ever see back again.

I tottaly agree, I just want it like not overkill, but not underkill

Also reptile in MK:SD looked really good, but his alternate costume should be ninja, and that should be for all the ninjas like Sub-zero in DA

Reptiles looks the way he does because of his story. Since his entire race has been destroyed he can't return to the Maetriarch, therefore, he keeps de-evolving. I'd like to see him back at his peak of evolution, but storywise, that's not possible anymore. So maybe something like the MKSM outfit is the best option, 'cause I don't think we're getting his triatery outfit from MK4.

Now, back on topic. I don't think we can call them all ninja's anymore, but If they did anything like they did for them in MKD, yeah i'd like some of them to return and have their own unique look, powers, and styles, because then at least they'd be real and fully realized characters instead of pallet swaps. But the problem is in limiting them to one game. Sub-Zero and Scorpion are given to be in every game, because if they weren't somebody is getting shot. And if they're going to make up 1/4 of the roster, that leaves only four spaces left. MKD had Mileena, Jade, Tanya, Noob-Smoke, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Ermac. That is already 7 slots, but each one of them felt unique, if they can do that, then it wouldn't be so bad.
One last thing, can we stop calling them ninjas and call them assassins, because, that's what they were, at least according to how the MK mythology goes.

I think having a quarter of whatever the playable cast next game is as ninjas would be the right balance. So out of, say, 24 fighters, having six slots taken by ninja characters is fair. Here's my take on each "ninja" characters chances of making it back in the future.

Sub Zero- Dead cert. Trademark character, fan favourite, and they seem to be building him up as a big hero in the storyline. Deserves his main spot far more than boring Scorpion.

Scorpion- Sadly, another inevitable character. Horribly overrated, imo, but he's the most popular character and Boon's fave.

Reptile- Whether as ninja, lizard man, or mixture of both, we will definetely see him again. He's made his mark somehow everywhere in the series so far.

Kitana- Another hugely popular character, who'll be back for sure. She's too important to the series not to, and Sindel couldn't really replace her.

Mileena- She'll probably miss games here and there, as she's always done. But she became interesting in MKD, and I'm sure we'll see more of her.

Ermac- Probably MKD's most successful revamp. He'll be back, perhaps this time as a mentor to the heroes while Raiden's running around crazy.

Noob- Now we know his true identity, he's too important for now to not make it back. Hopefully on his own next time.

Smoke- Didn't get a fair shot in MKD, Noob got most of the attention. But enough people like him, so I hope he'll finally get to appear at some point on his own terms.

Frost- I'd say 50/50 for her. Fans are divided, some really like her, some see her as simply Sub Zero with boobs. Could go either way I think.

Jade- Pretty popular, and was chosen for the cheesy Videogame Vixens crap. I think for now at least, she's back in MK to stay.

Rain- 50/50 at best. Some love him, some hate him, many are indifferent
to the Prince tribute. Could surprise us.

Reiko- Highly unlikely. MK team don't like him, and all he had going for him was controversy. Good riddance, imo.

Tanya- Unlikely, but then she made a surprise comeback in MKD. But many people didn't like this, so I think it's bye bye Tanya.

Khameleon- Has a small scrap of storyline, so could be developed further. But I'm not sure whether Midway would choose her over most other characters.

Chameleon- Unlike Khameleon, had no story. A one game, extra pallete swap, who I see simply being left to gather dust.

Tremor- Very little chance. MKSF was a disaster, and Midway seem to have airbrushed it, it's characters, and it's events out of the main storyline.

"Classic" Sub Zero UMK3/MKT (not Noob)- No way. This was just a cheap excuse to whore out the ninja sprite some more.

And, simply because the guy above me mentioned this guy,

Hydro- Not happening, impossible. Midway didn't make him, Malibu did. More chance of Mokap becoming the final boss.

I Think that ninjas are outstanding. Human Smoke was the coolest, but the cyborg smoke is cool too. I think Sub Zero should turn Smoke into a more intellent learning computer and become like a second in command in

I could care less for new ninja becasuse I belive we have enough, but MK :D did do a good job at making every ninja character different! So yes I would like to see some return like Rain or someones else!

If, IF there is a new one, he or she has to be a super unlockable like reptile.

For those who love there ninjas would flip if the saw a new ninja hiding behind a tree or appearing to tell them how to find them!!

Scorpion and Sub-Zero are pretty much guaranteed to be in every game. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is debatable, but it seems very unlikely they're going anywhere.

Kitana and Mileena, the female Scorpion and Sub-Zero as Ed Boon called them, are MK mainstays. They may sit out a game here and there but they always seem to come back for more. They have some of the best storylines and still have plenty of potential so they're probably not going anywhere either.

Reptile's got a solid fan base and he's become something of a mainstay. I'm sure they'll find a way to get him to survive the Onaga situation.

Jade's pretty popular and her return in Deception was mostly well-received. However she's not as prominant in the storyline as others so her return doesn't seem as certain. I think she'll be back though.

Noob Saibot and Ermac got revamps in Deception and have risen to some high importance and popularity. I think they're a sure bet to return.

Smoke's not a guarantee. He has a decent fan-base but he's held back in the story. I think if he comes back most, Smoke fans especially, would like to see him become his own character.

Sektor's been on the outside waiting to get in for a while. He's been given a good story with the Tekunin, so I guess it's a matter of when will he return.

I think Cyrax has less chance of returning any time soon. Sektor seems to be more prefered and since many fans don't like cyborgs in MK, I doubt Sektor and Cyrax will be in a game at the same time.

I think Rain deserves a second chance. I think he could benefit from a good revamp like Noob and Ermac. He hasn't been confirmed dead and he has ties to Kitana and Edenia so he could easily be reintroduced to the story.
If he fizzles out...oh well, worth a shot.

I think Khameleon could return and play a decent role involving Reptile. Since she's from Reptile's race she could easily get her own unique look. Aside from that she's just lacking her own moves. But she seems like one of the forgotten characters, so I doubt we'll be seeing her anytime soon.

Fans seem divided on Frost, but I think we may see her return. If she really is dead, she could find herself involved with Noob Saibot, who just might happen to be her older brother. I don't think we've seen the last of Frost.

Tremor, like others could return. He had a vague story and his powers sounded unique. But he's even more forgotten than Khameleon.
I do think however, if any existing characters are to get turned into Tekunin cyborgs by Sektor it should be this guy. No one really cares about him and he already has ties to the Lin Kuei.

Tasia is even less known than Tremor and I'm pretty sure she had less story. Her return seems slim to none.

I don't understand the appeal of Chameleon. I've seen a lot of people wishing for him back and I wonder why. He's nobody. No moves, no story...he doesn't even have the fancy spelled name. If, and I stress IF, the MK team for some reason got the urge to bring him back, I doubt it'll be before Rain, Khameleon, or even Tremor.

I don't count Reiko or Tanya as ninjas, but I'll mention them anyway. As much as I like Reiko and would like to see him return, the Reiko/Kahn bullshit might have damaged him beyond repair. And even if he comes back, they'll probably won't do anything interesting with him. They'll probably just make him another Shao Kahn bitch.
I like Tanya and I think she has a lot of unfulfilled potential. I think her return is 50/50. Some love her....some despise her. I'm hoping the third try's a charm.

Personally, I don't care how many or how few ninjas are in the game. I know some people aren't fond of ninja overkill and there are others who will automatically like a character just because they are a ninja, but I say if they play good and have a good story bring them in. And now that they're not pallette-swiping anymore, anyone can get a shot to shine.

I think if they decide to introduce another ninja I think it'd be cool if it was Skarlett, the rumored Kitana Ermac glitch from MK2. I have some ideas for her, but I'd be interested to see how they would bring her into the story.
I like the idea of having more ninjas and some returning ones like smoke not as a robot.

I wasn't talking about having cyborgs. Like for an example Cyrax as human! That would be cool? Or not
They should make a more traditional ninja with the black/dark blue outfit.

Give him the Spear, Slide, Invisibility, Ninja stars, and Noob's Double throw from UMK3/T. Or some other traditional ninja tricks.

That's just copied from other characters. The moves, and even the outfit colours are all borrowed from other MK ninjas.

If there is ever a new ninja, he or she would have to be TOTALLY different to any of the others, in both looks and fighting moves.

Ninjas rarelz wore black outfits. in truth thez were rather disguised as something else, so the ninja uniform concept is a product of the cheezy ninja movies from the 80's.

-sigh- As if MK ninjas were original in the first place....

i would rather have a decent roster about 25-30 characters with max 4 ninjas than have an onslught of them again like in that flop Trilogy.

I found Deceptions wardrobe quite convincing, since almost all of it is based on existing oriental wardrobe. Say what you will, but anything what has to do with chinese mythology (Seido for instance, Haviks face, Hotarus armor and infantry flags, Dairous headshave, Ashrahs overall) or designs has a place in MK. This is fact.

I believe that Midway and the MK Team should introduce Lin Ku to the public that has never seen Defenders of the Realm. True he only made one appearance, but I think that it's time to put him in the game and see how people will react, in the end, I don't think the MK team could do any worse then the MKSF. With Sub-Zero having rebuilt the Lin Kuei as a symbol of good, it would be interesting where Lin Ku would fit in. Does he join Sub-Zero, maybe Kahn or Onaga, or could he be the newst member of the tekunin. His power would also lend itself very well to his fighting styles. I just hink that, just because he was only seen once doesn't mean that he has to be forgotten. He can really be an awesome character.

I think its best to keep those that are already there or keep the ones that have a fomitable fan base. If they are popular character such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Mileena, and many others that I can name, then that good enough. If the character has a big enough purpose in the game itself, then that's reason enough on why they should be in the game. If not, then don't put them in future games.

As far as new ninjas are concerned, personally I don't want to see any new ninjas. I don't want MK to look like the crayola 128 box set. Its unnecessary to have all of these ninjas on here that don't have much of a purpose in the game and or are not going to make the game any more better. I mean, this is Mortal Kombat we're talking about not Power Rangers! I don't want to see a bunch of ninjas on there that only serve the main boss and that's it.

However, If they do add more ninjas then give them some vendetta and make them look different from the rest of the ninjas in the game.
