Everyone knows Onaga 2 be the Dragon King... n everyone knows Delia & Argus used Orin and Caro [Dragons] to watch over their sons and this happened BEFORE Onagas reign...I think? Did it?
Anyway, who was/is the last dragon? Wot connection to Dragons does/did Onaga have exactly?
I'm sure I've seen dragon type characters in MK9 and MKX so just wondered wot the whole history of Dragons was about. I know Dragons are a big deal in MK [the logos, liu kang etc etc]

Though there aren't many dragons in Mortal Kombat, I've never heard anyone say "the Last Dragon".
Onaga is from Outworld and Caro / Orin are (probably) Edenian. They do not have any relationship other than being dragons.
The Elder gods true form are that of dragons. Actually the elder gods look exactly like the MK logo.
Elder gods vs Onaga (unused Onaga ending)
Elder Gods giving Shazam new bling
Elder Gods giving Raiden new bling

Dragons were thought extinct, like the Zaterrans. But some have been found.
Last Dragon EGG was guarded by Blaze after Onaga's Holymen captured him.
When it hatched, it's energies entered & transformed Reptile into Onaga.
Who knows what form Onaga would take if Reptile wasn't there or someone else was instead? But that would assume Onaga(Which means Dragon King, in Japanese) is just a name or title, n ancient Onaga wasn't an actual Dragon.
Maybe he was a Zaterran.
Maybe he was a Cryomancer.
In Sub-Zero's Deception ending, after wearing his ancestral armor he was fighting some Tarkatans, and one's dying breath was "Long live the Dragon King".
Possibly a misinterperetation. Either showing their fierce loyalty to Onaga
or praising Sub-Zero's strength/reckognizing his armor.
The crest on Sub-Zero's helmet resembles an Asian "dragon claw" symbol,
which is similar to the one on Smoke's chest.
Shao Kahn exterminated the Cryomancers either because he feared their power
or to eliminate all traces of Onaga's people.
The Lin Kuei leadership medallion also has a dragon on it.
Apparently a Cryomancer founded the Lin Kuei, possibly associated with the Sub-Zero
ancestor portrait in Raiden's shrine in MKX.
Back in MK9, I think, Sub-Zero found some Ice Dragons somewhere,
and decided to raise/ride them in his ending.

That would be a huge development for SZ to become an icy Onaga. He could potentially have control of the loyal Ice Dragons first before stumbling on his undead army.
After the cliffhanger of the comic,
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
where Goro seeks the Red Dragon's help to regrow his arms
they may end up taking him to the last dragon egg.where Goro seeks the Red Dragon's help to regrow his arms

The Tarkatans were just loyal to Onaga. So the cyromancer armor is not connected. As to the dragon medallian its just neatherrealm lov3 of dragon imagery
