A lot of people seem to think there wont be any 3D characters. There will! Ed Boon said so himself and we have plenty of roster room.
Lets think. If they are going to add Sonya, Jax, Jacqui, Takeda, Erron Black, Bow User, Liu Kang, Mileena, and Kung Jin.....
That brings the roster to 21. There will likely be about 26 characters. With Jacqui, Takeda, Erron Black, Bow User and Kung Jin. That brings the new characters to 9 which sounds about right And even if they add in Ron Tan Cho. There would still be 4 spots left. Also. We could go up to 28.Âa
So we will probably get Shinnok, Tanya, Fujin, Bo Rai Cho, Havik, or Frost. 4 or 5 of them.
I mean look. Shinnok pretty much HAS to be in. Tanya and Fujin are both highly requested and Fujin has a new costume. Bo Rai Cho has been hinted at on twitter and was on the leaked casting call. Havik is a fan fave and we know the chaosrealm will be part of that invasion thing. And for Frost, she has been built up on the comic and will return again in the comic said the writer.
I imagine the roster being...
Scorpion
Sub-ZeroÂa
D'Vorah
Cassie Cage
Kotal Kahn
Ferra/Torr
Raiden
Kano
Quan Chi
Kung Lao
Kitana
Reptile
Ermac
Sonya
Jax
Mileena
Jacqui
Takeda
Erron Black
Kung Jin
Bow User
Shinnok
Fujin
Tanya
Havik
Bo Rai Cho
with Liu Kang being a boss.
If there are 28 then Frost and Shang Tsung. If not they would definitely be DLC.
The DLC would want to draw sales so Goro, Smoke, Johnny Cage, Kabal and 2 guests. Plus throw in 1 or 2 forgotten 3D characters like Li Mei, Hotaru, or Sareena.Âa
Whatchu think. No matter how most of you feel . There will be a few 3D characters.
13 MK9 Characters
9 NewÂa
5 3DÂa
sounds pretty reasonable.

For the record, Fujin doesn't have a new costume. His Armageddon costume just looks nicer as comic book art than it does as a PS2 era 3D model.

Whatever. The game looks great, but the roster is FAR from interesting.

Don't forget we also have written confirmation that some of the characters in the comics appear in alternate attire because they didn't necessarily know the 'look' for certain characters yet.....that COULD be aimed towards some of the newbies/3D crowd.
Just a reminder.

Really? Its pretty fantastic so far at least for me. haven't seen a single character that hasn't looked great. What characters do you think would make it more interesting to you?Whatever. The game looks great, but the roster is FAR from interesting.

Even if this was a compilation game like MKA or MKT people would still find a complaint. Noob is my main and there has been zero mention of him in tweets comics etc.. Yet I have zero butt hurt. Whether this was MK9 all over again or not it will still be an improvement and worthy of your money. If not save up for the next street fighter and switch forums.

We'll see.
You're forgetting the lack of double shoulderguards. Sure he has his MK7 outfit with a couple minor changes but he gets more hints than someone like Shinnok So maybe

Alright let me prefix this rant by saying I love MK always have always will and I will by and play the shit out of the new game no matter what the finished roster looks like but..... ........At the moment with the returning characters and the heavily rumoured returning characters yet to be announced the roster is looking quite boring.
I was really happy with the many deaths from MK9 and saw it as a way to clean out some of the old characters that are quite uninteresting and have pretty much run their course over the past 9 titles ie; Stryker, kabal, nighwolf, Jax, Kung Lao, Liu kang, kitana, Shang tsung etc and was interested to see new legacy characters like cassie and possibly takeda and jacqui coming in to take over from their parents. It was also really good to see a new outworld crew forming with kotal, dvorah, ferra/torr and possibly Erron black too. These new characters coupled with a few of the 3d era characters re-invented and re-imagined made for a very promising and interesting roster.
however with heavy rumours gaining more and more momentum of more boring returning characters such as; Jax, Sonya, cage, Liu kang, Shang tsung and mileena making a come back it makes it look less and less likely that many 3d characters will get another go sure we will probably get fujin and maybe Tanya but there are many many more with great potential that I don't think will be realised.
I hope I am wrong and that all these fans of Jax, Sonya, cage, Liu and Shang are just clutching at straws and these rumours turn out to me nothing more then rumours and these characters stay in the past, more then happy for them to return for story mode and challenge tower purposes but not as full playable roster slots here's hoping anyway!!!

He doesn't in the comic either. That's just the way the inker shades/lights things.
Note how it transitions to the proper burgundy around the bottom folds and ripped portions.
Note how the same deep flat black shading is applied to Raiden's hat and the back flap of his tunic in the same panel. That doesn't mean his hat and tunic are solid black either.
You can see plain as day in this panel where here's fully lit that Fujin's Tunic is burgundy...
... And it's trimmed with gold in the game too...
Once again, it's the same damn costume, it just looks nicer as comic book artwork than it does as a PS1 model. -_-

Any differences are minor and can be chalked up to artistic license on the part of the illustrator.
Erron doesn't look completely identical between issues either, because of a difference in artists. That's how comics/art work.
Compare the second and third images in my last post. It's still the same damn costume. You people are grasping at straws. -_-

Hmmm. If you think about it the characters the op added that came up to 24 might actually be the roster

I don't know, people seem all primed up to get angry no matter what happens.
MK9 kills off a bunch of characters. We immediately see two camps emerge: the "How could they do that?! Those guys were the classics! They were IMPORTANT!" side, and the "Good riddance! Those guys were lame and boring and suck, so bring on the new!" side. Obviously, both can't win.
MKX debuts with two classic characters and four all new ones. "This sucks, these guys aren't Mortal Kombat characters. I don't want a game that's just Scorpion and Sub-Zero and nobody else!" Okay, so next they bring out some returnees. "What are you doing? You're just making the same old game all over again! This isn't supposed to be MK9-2!"
"Why of why did you kill off Kitana and Kung Lao? They were popular!" Oh lookie here, guess who's back from the dead? "But why can't the dead stay dead?!" Well, look, Jade stayed de-- "YOU MANIACS! If you can bring back those other guys, why not Jade!"
This is the problem with any argument that centers on NRS "not listening to their fans." Taken as a whole group, the fans don't even know what they want. Some people want mid-series characters back; others think they're colon sludge that should be flushed, bleached, and reflushed so that even the lingering memory of them doesn't stink up the whole house. Some people wanted about a third of a roster of mid-series characters, others didn't want to give up that many slots for their favorite classics, others didn't want them at all. So who is NRS supposed to listen to anyway? You, personally?
Every time NRS fills in one wish list, they take away from another. So anyone who really wants something to be disappointed about can certainly find something. For the rest of us, there's a big game coming out with upwards of 30 total characters to be played, with 3 variations each. That's a goddamn lot of stuff in the game, which doesn't leave a lot of time to worry about the stuff that's not in the game.
