... In the next entry.

I somehow found his perfomance at MK9, as with most villians, very dissapointing.

First he got just used to job as entry fight in story mode for Cage... My main problem is not the lost fight but the very fact, taht they used him casually in the tournes, if he in reality was a "hidden character" and a strong one in the first game... I would have loved to see him having a bigger role in it

Later he even lost even against Stryker...

What do you think... Would you like to see him have a bit bigger role and not being just the loser jobber losing against everyone?

I hope so. Reptile hasn't spoken a word yet.

Reptile should turn good.

Honestly, I don't see that happening in the next game. If anything, we'll just see Reptile serving Shinnok and Quan Chi like he did in MK4. In other words, he'll remain a lackey and a punching bag for the heroes. However, this time, we won't likely get the dynamic of him serving Shinnok under the (foolish) idea that Shinnok will grant him the means to be with his people.

I would like to see that......but I doubt it will ever happen. The MK team never show any love to Reptile

The story mode kinda sucked in general in regard to all the baddies being reduced to jobbers.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go more neutral than work with the evil side. I don't think it really has done him anything good with being evil. And I hope that they don't continue dragging the whole, "I'll restore your race if you work for me," character. That's been overdone and too boring for this character, especially since you could do so much with him.

Can't say for sure, but, I think that Reptile may not be playable in the main roster. He could take part in the story mode or be a DLC.
Reppy was never the same after MK3/UMK3.

So basically everyone of the villians wink

But as someome mentioned it... I dunno why Boon and Co are treating Reptile in such a bad way.

He is one of the classics and a legend with him being the first hidden character in MK.

The movie potrayed him as absolute bad-ass as well... But ever since MK4 he went down heavilly.

But maybe his Dragon King story line will go differently this time and he will have a bigger role on his own.

Maybe in this timeline he will ahve an evolution instead of devolution... Becoming more "human" in the next one

Reptile might redeem himself as a fatal sacrifice at some point, KiShiDo.

It's doubtful. Given the 'masters' he has served over the years; Shao Kahn, Shinnok, Nitara. He may have been manipulated by them but he still chooses to be on the side of evil.

If Khameleon ever seeks to redeem him she should probably fail (or at least, not succeed entirely).

Here's my take (as a reptile fanboy tongue)

He's obviously not at the top of the list when it comes to an all out story mode that focuses primarily on the tournament where they try and cram in everyone and put the bigger stories first.

This is why I think his story would be better suited to a freeroam konquest or sm style affair wherein the really popular stories like scorp and sub can be the drive of the story but all the old favourites can be found along the way and have their own little spotlight for a bit. Hell, he even was getting up to mischief in Armageddon.

That or put out story packs for hardcore fans for various characters, making mk9 style stories more expandable so they're not just killing off everyone as jobbers.

Anyway whatever his future, having him job is getting old, he needs to win a bit more in future.

I don't want to see Human Reptile. I want to see Human Sub-Zero back. I dont want all ninjas to become human again. This is how I want Reptile to look

Unfortunately I think it goes as far back as MKII, where he was the worst character in the game.

Actually many would put Baraka at the bottom of the MK2 tier list. Reptile was no doubt down there, but in the right hands could be a beast. Then of course we can't forget that in UMK3 he is a top 5 tier character capable of major carnage, but again needing great skill.

The MK movie was no doubt the highlight of his character, and sadly I can't see him ever rising above that. He manhandled Lui Kang more than anyone, and proved to be the strongest villain fighter in the tournament.

To my fellow Reppy fans whenever you're feeling down just remember this: He was the ONLY character to get his name called by Shao Kahn in the movie, which was a nod to his legendary status as the first secret char in a fighting game. He is also a top tier char in perhaps the most popular MK game ever (UMK3), and requires imo more skill than ANY other fighter in the 2D games to truly be effective. Only those with true skill can unleash his power.

Not to drudge up something so old, but as a Baraka fan, I have to disagree. Most MK2 tier lists that I saw back in the day had Baraka anywhere from 5th to 8th or 9th best character. Basically a 3rd tier guy. But a vast majority of those same lists had Reptile ranked dead last. I can't remember if it was EGM of GamePro, but one of the had Reptile in his own tier with a caption that said "never pick this character!" Next to it, which is a shame, because I do like Reptile.

Now MK9 on the other hand... Yeah. Baraka's pretty terrible in that game. One of, if not the absolute worst. Our poor henchmen lol!

Anyways, as for Reptile's story, I want to finally see Reptile put a plan of his own in motion. Instead of following someone else and their plan, I want to see him get one over on the big bad guy or maybe he even pretends to have changed sides and helps the heroes, only to leave them hanging once he gets what he wants. He needs a story that makes him a legitimate player and not just a lackey. He doesn't have to be THE big player, but someone that both sides have to think about, question his motives etc. It's time he flipped the script.

Baraka was always no higher than the middle of the pack in MKII, but Reptile was a permanent resident near the bottom. Heck, he was dead last in GamePro's 1994 character ranking. However, Rep was majorly improved in UMK3.

And yeah, his movie fight ruled. To think it was a last-minute addition to the film.

I always remembered Reppy has being near dead last, but I gotta say Baraka has some of the weakest weapons of any char's arsenal. He's a pure defensive player, and while the swinging blades absolutely rock when they connect, we all know how screwed you are when they don't. His projectile is swift, and his back slash is pretty useless imo. I would pick him over Reppy though. Reptile seems to be so sluggish, slow and has a huge frame rate. Anything seems to hit him.

At the end of the day none of this matters if someone picks Jax. A good Jax is basically god tier if I remember correctly. Ground pound to hell and back.

But back to the main topic: Reptile has had his day in the spotlight. Sadly Mortal Kombat in general has. It will never reach it's 1995 movie release level.

Now if you wanna talk about being redeemed how about Classic Sub? Not only does his char suck horribly in UMK3/Trilogy, but in the movie his fight lasts about 10 secs. Just a few hits and next thing you know he's throwing lamps at Lui trying to buy some time LOL It's like he attempted that big damage pop up combo only to get his slide blocked. Sad.
