Say what you want about Capcom milking their games, but if you think about it, Street Fighter 4 to what is now Ultra Street Fighter 4 is a massive leap, granted it was done in increments.

I still think NRS should have kept content coming for MK9 at least until Injustice was released. I would have loved to play as The MK4 characters. While some people may hate paying for updates, ect,, those updates are what has kept Street Fighter relevant for the EVO crowd.

So do you think There is any chance of yearly updates with new characters and content, or will it be the typical first round of DLC support, move on to DC and wait for the next MK in 2019 ?

That depends on how well MKX is received(sales).

I think it depends on how many people are still playing it a year from now to be honest. They may give a small team the task of putting out patches and stuff but once the DLC is completed, I think work on the game will slow to a crawl unless serious balancing/fixing is needed.

Also depends on how soon they start up on the inevitable Injustice 2: More Gods Among Us lol

With so many classics n 3D kharacters being left out, they could make a bunch of them for dlc.DLC sold well for MK9 n i can imagine MKX will do the same if not better as great as this game looks.

NRS and WB are probably in the early stages of working on IGAU2. Boon had tweeted about getting back to work on Injustice a couple weeks back.So I'm sure that they will get right on that after MKX's release. In the meantime, they will release the DLC for MKX.

Although, I would like for them to start on MKXI after the DLC releases and have the next installment come out in 2017 or 2018. 3 years is a long enough wait as 4 years is way too long. Two years would be great though as they'd have 730 days which is a lot of time and nothing would be rushed. Just my hopeful thinking.

However, it's most prominent that we will be getting IGAU2 in 2017.

I was thinking the other day, that with how cool everything is looking for MKX, I wouldn't mind if they stuck with it for some time like Street Fighter, adding more and more content to the base game and in the end having a lot of minor fan favorite characters included in the game. This is a game that I could keep playing for a lot of years and I don't think another MK in the same generation could be much better so yeah, keep adding over the base MKX.

I'd prefer that they didn't make 18 versions of the same game. Patch that shit and add a few characters. The dead or alive and street fighter shit is unnecessary.

The Injustice hate in this thread is sad, but this is a MK forum so I shouldn't be surprised. However peeps should know that ending Injustice does NOT mean more MK. NRS are diversifying, and if they didnt work on Injustice then they would work on something else, like WWE Immortals.
However, its safe to assume that these other games feedback into MK, rejuvenating the staff during MK breaks and provide new artisic opportunities that help keep anything from getting stale like in the 3D era.

Also, Injustice is dope as fuck.

Sorry, rant over. On topic, I too hope MKX sees a bit longer support than MK9/Injustice.

Ya just had to mention the god awful game, didn't you? I find NRS wasted their time on it, when they could have given us an MKX mobile/android game instead. Turning WWE Superstars into vikings and spartans, lmao.

I'm sure they would like to, but WB wants to move to the next project. I don't mind, Injustice sold incredibly and spawned the best selling comic. I love Injustuce and I can't wait for the sequel.

I liked Injustice a lot but if NRS skipping Injustice 2 means we could get MK11 sooner, then I would be down with them not making another one lol

Ive always disliked the lack of balance updates.... Theres still hundreds of ppl who play mk9 to this day.... Yet for years now ppl have had to deal with stuff like cyraxs bullshit resets for example.

Why exactly is it god awful? Is it because it has good graphics? Creative, fun presentation? Mobile multiplayer? Easily accessible? Brings money and potiential future work from another giant IP, WWE? Lets the wrestling fans at NRS have a fun avenue of artistic expression? Have you even played it?

Your opinion is short-sighted, self-focused, and frankly ignorant. If NRS has a chance to work on a game that they feel excited about, while also securing a potential new IP moving forward, then why the fuck would you want them not to? NRS can and should do more than MK. That will keep the work environment from getting stale and also attract new staff moving forward, which will all support any future MK games.

Grow up and get some perspective.

NRS should be allowed to go do other projects... however I would still like to see WB doing something more with the property. Develop a spinoff action game with another studio at the helm.
MK is a popular brand and I think WB should take more advantage of it.

I still dream of a LEGO Mortal Kombat Videogame

I wouldn't mind going the SF route. NRS should be allowed to do things other than MK, and it would be way easier just to keep adding characters, stages, and patches than to make a whole new MK.

I'd rather NRS handle it. They've proven they can do Action/Adventure.

I don't expect we will get extra content after a year.

But I wish they at least release some balance updates.

With Injustice and MK fighting games they simply don't have the time. I too would like to see them develop it, but I rather have another dev do it, if it means NRS is still releasing a fighting game every 2 years.

Seeing as Rocksteady is done with Batman after Arkham Knight, why not get THEM to make an MK action-adventure game? Could you imagine how awesome that could be!? grin
