Why I loved MK 1-4, and why I will love MK8.

I was six years old when MK hit the arcades, and I remember playing it in the arcades and thinking, "wow, just wow." When MK2 came out, I had no idea that it had; I didn't really follow gaming magazines @ that time. I walked into the local arcade and saw a line of people waiting to play a game, and I thought, "wow, just what could this be?" Low and behold it was MK2, and I was mesmerized by the game. I bought every magazine I could that lead up to MK3 and was blown away by the game when it came out. Same deal for MK4. MK5-7 were all the same games in my opinion. I was not thrilled by them because I knew too much information via the internet. I am going to know only ONE thing about MK8, and that is the release date. I am not going to spoil the WOW factor for this game as I did the last 3. Anyone else feel the same way?

I want to do that, but I know that curiosity will win the best of me. It seems that anything that I am anticipating I ruin that "wow" factor via internet. i really would like to do that, and get the experience of actually just experiencing the game as a whole for the first time. maybe i can if i preoccupy myself with something else, but i know if i have idle time and am near my computer i will inevitably stray

Same as humansmoke44. I really want it to be a surprise, but my love for MK is so deep that I will inevitably go on MK5.org and search for MK news in January. Also I get gameinformer magazine, and the issue after next should tell us lots and lots about what MK is going to be all about.

I see what your saying but then the factor of I want to no about a game before I buy it. Just because it's mk doesn't mean i'll buy without knowing what it's about.

Yeah I agree. I need to know something about what it is going to be about. I can't just go out and buy a game. Say this game turns into an RPG or mmorpg. Then will I buy it? I hope you get what I'm saying.

After having fun with MK:DA and then being mercilessly let down by Deception, I skipped Armageddon over entirely. (The wretched Kreate-a-Fatality system was a decent part of the reason. Never do that to us again, Boon.) While I have high hopes that they hit the nail on the head with MK8, I refuse to even joke about buying the game regardless, or being uninformed when if and when I do.

I'll never buy another MK title without at least renting it again, methinks.

I Understand where your comming from completely, MK1, MK2, MK3, UMK3, MK4 where all shocks for me. But MK:DA, MK:D, MK:SM, MK:A where not. I spoiled it all from reading the forums and hitting all the MK sites every day. I would like to just forget about the forums and web-sites and just buy the game the day it comes out. letting the whole game be new and fresh, the shock factory would be amazing, but.... I have the internet here at work and at home, and lots of free time, how will I be able to keep myself from checking for any news....I cant. And neither can any of ya'll. So really if midway wanted to do us a favor, they would not give us any news except, the name and the release date.
