I actually think Havik has a higher chance than Ashrah of returning mainly because I've always got the sense NRS really liked the character, not to mention he had a cameo in MK9 if I'm not mistaken, or one of the endings.

I want Sektor but I'm perfectly fine if he doesn't make it. Perfectly fine as in "I better at least get closure or people in my immediate surroundings will be at risk." Haha.

Anyway, I think Havik is a pretty good candidate for a return. The core of who he is makes him pretty flexible for any story they've got cooked up and his gameplay could be F'N nuts.

Yeah, I don't understand Weapontheory's logic on this. So, basically all of the villains come back. Because if (and that's a big if) Johnny and Sonya are out because of their daughter then that leaves no returning heroes from MK9. It's just all villains

It also leaves us with characters like Baraka, Sheeva, Reptile, and yes I'm still saying it...KANO. Kano looks cool with his traffic light self I guess, but I'm not going to act like it's not because we are starved for information. Once a new cooler character comes along I think Kano will be overshadowed...again. Then, he can get his ass kicked in storymode again.

I'll say this in the heroes defense too. This game spans 25 years. Anything can happen in that time to bring them back. Ermac anyone???

Plus, Vogel and Boon have both already mentioned that death pretty much means nothing in MK.

Add to the fact that the character on their logo is dead as fuck and was brought back from the dead; I'm pretty sure that we can assume that anyone and everyone is up for a returning spot.

MK 1:
- Sonya Blade = I hope she doesn't make it, I dont' care the made it though MK9, I just like Cassie much better and Sonya isn't interesting enough for me.

- Johnny Cage = While I don't mind him, I actually want other characters before him, but a cool Seido-revamp may change my opinion about him, unlike Sonya. But it would make sense for him to be in the game.

- Liu Kang = He died, so he shouldn't be back, but as half the fan-club would go berserk he probably will be back anyway. I hope he's the boss, because then he doesn't waste a spot.

- Shang Tsung = He should skip this game, while I don't mind Shang and I'm a fan of his, I think MKX DLC would be better. I want Quan Chi as only sorcerer in X.

+ Reptile = Revenge should be his, his boring ass-licker role in MK9 was poorly done, he should get a new better role and be more important and talk.

- Goro = If there is a shokan in X, I hope it will be Kintaro or Sheeva, not Goro, but i'm probably disappointed because it will be bland goro anyway.

MK 2:

+ Baraka = He didn't die + He had a very boring role in MK9. MKX could be his revenge, but I wouldn't say no to a new more interesting tarkatan.

- Kitana = She died, I hope she skips a game and comes back in full glory and less slutty in MK11, she could be DLC tho, but not in the story please.

+ Mileena = Hell yes she should be in without Kitana to ruin her stories. Kotal vs Mileena would be very interesting.

- Jax = Dead is dead, I don't want this baby back. I don't care for Jax, if he never returns I wouldn't skip sleep over it, he doesn't make sense to be back in X, so bye.

- Jade = She could return as the mysterious woman, but as normal jade taking vengeance for Kitana? No way. Mysterious woman, or no Jade for me. But I rather see her back like the other dead in MK11 and in DLC.

- Noob Saibot = I really love him, but I fear with Noob and Smoke being in this game that Rain, Ermac and Reptile (the other ninja's) have less chance, and I rather see them. So Noob could become DLC.

- Smoke = See Noob.

+/- Kintaro = I would like to see him doing something cool and new and be playable. But if he isn't in the game I wouldn't mind that much.

- Kung Lao = Skippit baby! You're dead, seeya back in mk11 or DLC.

Except Mortal Kombat X is about a new generation of characters.

Mortal Kombat 9 was the staple saying, "this is the last ride with all your oldschool favorites, we can't keep rehashing the same shit anymore". Especially with the other stuff NRS put out around such as that Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, and a MK HD remake was in the works but got canceled. Nostalgia nostalgia nostalgia. Every thing so oldschool fans won't say shit about the future MK game.

Seriously people, have you not yet guessed the possibility of what's going to happen to the MK1 characters by the end of this game? Will you still cry come MK11?

Glad I am not the only one who thinks like this. I have to say, it's quite predictable about the outcome of our old school favorites (despite Scorpion and Sub-Zero might be the only ones to exempt from this because obvious) from just looking at the game.

I just wished it didn't took them this long to finally do something like this.

My favorite character is in already so I'm not crying about anything.

I want new just as much as you do. Hell, that's why I don't want Sonya and Johnny returning. However, I don't want 90% of the characters who survived to return either though. They killed all of the good ones. When I say that I'm not just talking about heroes either. Shang and Noob are both nowhere to be found either and they are some of the best villains we have.

That's why I'm saying don't count out the dead ones. We may be moving in a new direction, but obviously characters are returning. Don't count the dead ones out.

Mhm mhm mhm... I read what you're writing, but I see no official confirmation that this theory of yours is true, nor do I see any confirmations that the "dead" characters can't return. Instead I see veteran characters like Raiden and Kano being in MKX which are oldschool favourites being rehashed, so... yeah.

The 8 unconfirmed that I see returning who won't be DLC are

Cage, Sonya, Reptile, Ermac, Mileena, Quan Chi, Kenshi and Rain.

I'm not sure if the bottom row is going to be totally new fighters or if fighters from 4 through A will be on it. If so, I'm thinking that they might be Sareena, Fujin, Ashrah and Reiko just to allow for as many brand new faces as possible and keeping the bottom row with 4 old fighters and 8 new ones.

Again , this game is going down the path of Mortal Kombat: Deception where much of the previous cast is gone to make room for fighters who weren't in the last game as well as brand new faces.

I also feel like we'll get cameos in story mode who won't be playable at launch but will become DLC later on. They'll just be fightable.

The ones that I see being non-playable but eventually DLC are

Sektor, Goro, Havik, Li Mei, Baraka, Tanya and Bo Rai Cho + new DLC fighters + 1 Guest fighter.

In addition to a console exclusive fighter. Xbox will get Fulgore, Playstation will get Sweet Tooth and PC will get the TF2 Demoman.

This is assuming that NRS wants to complete the third row. Some of the ones I named may very well just be cameos.

Oh, and Shinnok is the final boss. Defeating him means that the dead return to life for MK11.
