Why it has to be a HERO why not some kind of ANTI-HERO?

if u think about each kharacters odds, none would kompare to the likelihood of the hero being kung lao..it is however, a distinct possibility that the new hero will be an entirely new kombatant.. i hope so!

Yeah, Kung Lao or Ermac. Or even a girl hero; Jade. Though, I would not like Taven to be the new hero. He Is Edenian, and once again look at Kung Lao and Shujinko ; they didn't stay hero long what so ever. I always saw Taven as the Hercules of Mortal Kombat. I hate that. Or even Sub-Zero; well first, give him the MK3 and MKDA Look. I would not like to see a Ninja The hero (I know I said Ermac as well. But Ermac is the better chance; Sub-Zero is the original Ninja and if I saw him in that attire I would die.(At least if he was the hero.)





That would not be bad at all; because, the fact its going to be Darker. But, it should not do that.

I can see MK having an Anti-Hero

The antihero of the series would probably be Kung Lao. He's the reluctant hero; everyone knows what side he's on, and why he fights, but he's not always willing to take up the responsibility. He did go straight for Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung to avenge his Shaolin brothers and Liu Kang, respectively.

I like that role for Kung Lao. You have the reluctant hero, who, when it comes down to it, works for a greater good. Liu Kang is a self-sacrificing and selfless hero who has dealt with everything Kung Lao was afraid of; that's the kind of hero we need.

I would like to see Kung Lao take a step up, since MK2/Gold, he's been kind of dead. Deadly Alliance, he appeared once, then quickly become a pawn for the Dragon King. Not much significance there. However, if he cannot be an A-list character without being the main protagonist, keep him as he is. It adds some depth and realism to his character.

As for the new protagonist, I don't know. Liu Kang does need to be put to rest, though. Shujinko could take on the role; he is, after all, the strongest kombatant. He has defeated and trained nearly every fighter in the history of Mortal Kombat (fighting games anyways), and is hinted at being able to defeat Onaga.

He was forced on us, much like Taven was. I don't think either of them have a chance to become popular, despite being effective candidates. Shujinko, I like him more than Taven. Shujinko was naive, but took it upon himself to undo the evil he caused. Taven shows some responsibility and knows how important his role is, and how vital it will be to defeat Blaze, but again, both were forced on the players.

Meh, besides all that rambling, it's a tossup really. Shujinko could carry on his duty as Champion, or Taven could overshadow Shujinko, or even Ermac could fulfill the main hero role. It can swing a lot of ways.

Personally, to conclude, I'd like to see Scorpion become the Champion. His story could use a touch up. Everyone likes the hellspawn spectre who has nothing to do but bitch and get his ass kicked; yeah, fun. I like him, he's one of my favorite characters. Making him the Champion of Mortal Kombat doesn't make him just an icon of MK, but an important figure. An attitude adjustment, personality change, while having an enlightened view of the world and his revenge would do him a world of good.

Y'know what? Just Because, Ed Boon's Fav. Character is Scorpion he probably is going to do that. I don't mind. It is a fair plot. It seems the Direction Scorpion is going that it doesn't take much thought to think up that. But ; once again, Scorpion does not have LeaderShip

He doesn't have to be a leading member of Earthrealm. In fact, the actual Mortal Kombat tournament has only been played through once; he'd probably just be the Champion of the Elder Gods, as villains keep finding ways to get through without using the tournament.

Scorpion has never explicitly demonstrated the ability to take on the role as leader, as the situation never presented itself. It seems, though, that I would suspect he does have some form of leadership. He was a fanatic with the Shirai Ryu, going as far to avenge his clan, and he was probably named as one of their finest warriors. That would, I think, give him a high status in the clan, thus forcing him to have some leadership skills.

That is not the point, though. Scorpion is a failed character due to his lack of care for other people, and that reflects how people think about him. To date, I think only a few people know Scorpion. He did fight on the side of Earth in UMK3, but he was noted in any other biographies and endings other than Sub-Zero and Quan Chi, and perhaps Shujinko.

I'd be pretty pissed if they made him this goofy popular guy with a gap between his teeth once he became Champion of Earthrealm. If he loses that angsty attitude, and starts fighting for true justice and not revenge, he will expand exponentially. Scorpion has the potential to be a great character, but Midway has missed every chance since UMK3. MKA seems to be the casket that seals him off as a moron.

Go figure. Other than the Champion of the Elder Gods, there's hardly any other routes for him to go. If Quan Chi is killed by by Scorpion's hands, Scorpion will vanish in a puff of smoke and fire, and he's gone forever. If Quan Chi is still pronounced dead, despite his reappearance in MKA, Scorpion will find someone else to be pissed at. The Elder Gods and Taven seem to be his targets now.

So, in the end, the best candidate for the protagonist is definitely not Scorpion. Scorpion would be an A-list character, but that wouldn't necessarily make him the protagonist as Liu Kang and Shujinko were.

subzero should definetly be the main. i mean hell hes been waiting 7 games! and i think raiden should be the boss with scorpions as a sub-boss (just for something different)

The big ''good guy'' role should be given to Jax.
The big ''Sub-Boss'' role shouldd be given to Chamaleon.
The big ''Bad guy'' role should be given to a new evil character of MK8.

I dont really think that taven would be the next main character in mk8 cause in armegeddon he fulfilled his destiny so it would be pointless if he had a major role in the next one. I think that a completely new set of charaters would be in mk8. probably the onlt characters that would stay would be any immortal character like raden fujin shinnok, and scorpion

Im pretty sure baraka wouldnt be the main boss because hes alot like reptile who really serves the most powerfull people.

Um, I think it all depends on the story. Right now, I'd have to lean more towards Taven as they are most likely going to have him become the new Protector God of Edenia, which will in turn give more focus to the Edenian side of the story.

If they are going to keep Lord Raiden to where he's a hotheaded berserk Thunder God, there's your other lead. I would love to see him as the main guy as well I mean come on who wouldn't love to play as a God? get to control life and tell if they should live.... or die

Fujin with the story revolving around his battle with Raiden.

Ed boon said no one would expect what happens in MK8. So that means the main dude will either be Mimik or Meat.


But what i would want to see would be... Stryker. I think they should have his quest to rid the streets of crime.

wow i was only joking when i said that, you really think that they are going to have one of their worst characters be the main character? its like creating special forces all over again.

Stryker is a great character. They just haven't developed him enough, yet.

Taven should be the hero.

Well shinnok was a boss in MK4 but ya know they could bring him as a minion sub boss...

if taven is gonna be the hero, i hope they have better moves for him, his powers were too original.
