Well i find it kind of funny when two projectiles just pass by each other even when there at the same height. I think there should be like a struggle kind of thing some time. Like when raiden uses his thunder bolt and when lui kang throws his fireball there should be like something like a "mini test your might". Which ever player successfuly wins the test your might, then the projectile would hit that person. Or like when subzero uses his freeze ball and scorpion uses his spear, scorpions spear would freeze then go drop to the ground and subzeros freeze ball would evaporate?

what do you think of the idea?

I could go on with many more.

Um...that doesn't really make sense though

If two meet...shouldn't they both be cancelled out?

Ahh, beat me to it.

Yeah, I don't think that you should have a mini-game with projectiles. I mean plus, I've never been in a fight against someone throwing out their projectiles the same time that I do.

But there is nothing pushing projectiles;

At least when you have the beams, there is a continuous stream so to say.

What are you going to do when Sub Zero shoots an Ice Ball and Scorpion shoots his spear?

Or a fire ball and Quan Chi's Skulls?

Kung Lao's hat and Sektor's missles?

It just wouldn't work.

true i guess that would only work with beams, but then the two projectiles should at least cancel out instead of just passing by each other, its so annoying when i play with scorpion and when i face subzero. When i shoot my spear and when he shoots his ice ball. I get frozen while subzero just falls to the ground then gets back up quick. Well what really doesnt make sense is that if subzeros freeze ball freezes anything it touches then how come scorpions spear does not freeze? For sektors missile and kuglaos hat, sektors missile should explode as soon as it has contact with the hat, then obviously his hat would appear back on his head right after.

This sort of reminds me of the thread I made when if someone blocks a projectile and what Predator said made sense.

It's too complicated to accomplish in a game like this.

I understand what you're trying to say, but it's not too often that both enemies throw out their projectiles at the same time, at least for me, I don't know how many times for you. And it's sorta stupid if you have a mini-game for someone who has a projectile move with a beam tagging along with it, and for no other projectiles that doesn't have a beam tagging along with the projectile.

It'll be too complicated for the game to have.

What she said. I could only see two ways of implementing something regarding clashing projectiles. Either they would pre-program outcomes for when certain projectiles meet another (Maybe one smashes through the other and hits the opponent, based on what might logically happen), or a rock-paper-scissors style chance as to which projectile wins and passes through to damage the opponent.

I think that projectiles clashing could happen like this:

1. For the purpose of balancing out characters, maybe some characters have more powerful projectiles than others. Let's say that Rayden's lightning destroys Liu Kang's fireball and goes through it, but Kang's fireball destroys and goes through Sonya's rings.

It might add a little depth in terms of knowing the characters attributes etc.

2. More logically, I like what Killer Instinct did back in the day. When two projectiles struck one another, they disappeared in a shower of sparks came out.

Simple, yet pretty, and it solves the problem.
