Well, the thing is, the MK team are going to start from scratch with all sorts of things, including the fighting system. We may or may not see the use of martial arts styles and weapons, and if we do, it'll likely be done quite differently.

Anyway, remember MK was originally a martial arts tournament so there has to be martial arts. I personally think they should go in the direction Tekken is taking, i.e. more authentic martial arts and less fantasy type and special /magical moves.
