I think the hara-kiri is the only counter they should allow. I mean the entire point of the fatality was pretty much for that last free hit to end the game if I remember correctly since Ed Boon is a big fan of getting in free hits.

If the game is true to the original Mortal Kombat then put the counter to the fatality in the game.I remember using the fatality counter in Mortal Kombat which I like to call the "Fatality Breaker". It keeped the winner form perfoming his or her "fatality move".

annilation: I like the idea, but I think integrating a counter would have to be done during the fight. Not after the announcer says "finish him." Logically this seems to be the only way it could work. Since the "fatality" setup they've been using all these years, is based around your opponent being immobilized, then inputting the fatality command. So therefore, they would have to come up with an entirely new way of setting up finishing moves, if they wanted to implement finishing move counters.

I have some ideas on how a new "finisher" system can be obtained. Although, I won't go into detail about it. Rather, I'll leave such a system for the game I'm making.

Everybody prob thought about this already. But is it worth hearing someone bitching(or yourself) about getting their throat slashed wide open(scorp's spear) seconds after staring into Reptile's horrific razor embedded mouth?
I mean everyday ive play UMK3 peeps would bitch about my Kang game with my incredible speed and counters, but reversing fatalities? It takes your glory away and your hearing from the immature, whining, emo noobs.

Logically? That makes no sense at all. First off, whether I agree with a fatality counter or not doesn't matter but if they did exist, it would work after the announcer says "Finish Him!". Don't you remember the Hara Kiri? Just input whatever the command is before your opponent puts in the fatality command and you get back up and fight again. But during the fight? At what point would you input the counter command? That does not make any sense.

As for the counter itself, I am against it. The whole point of a fatality is that it is like a gift to the winner. Whoever wins gets to sit back and watch the gorey loveliness. Having someone be able to all of a sudden get up and you've already beaten them defeats the purpose. It's completely ridiculous.

However I would love for the Mercy to come back. That was like the ultimate "Fuck You" to the opponent.

Isn't the point of Fatality, is when your energy bar runs out from getting your ass whooped in the game and the fighter is tired. That's why the announcer yells....FINISH HIM!!!! not...wake up and COUNTER HIM!!!! lol
