What if the next MK game is an RPG of sorts?

I think that would be nice, but I do not see something happening like that for some time.

About Me

Turn on your light and they'll see you. Make a sound and they'll hear you. If you think it's scary being lost...

Just wait till you're found

While I don't have a source available, I could've sworn that around the time MK: Shaolin Monks came out, Boon made a statement that they'd try to release a new MK game every year or so in the franchise, and that the idea was to alternate straight-up fighters with other game types (like MK:SM, for example) so as not to tire out any particular genre.

Then again, didn't Armageddon follow on the heels of Deception? I don't remember. All I know is that the next *fighter* installment of the series needs to be about 1,000 times better than Deception ever was.

You know, if it was done WELL (probability of that is low), I'd be all for an RPG to flesh out the MK universe.

However, you know what would REALLY get me excited? A Ninja Gaiden-style single-player game where you alternatively play as Scorpion and Sub-zero against scores of fantastical monsters, ninjas, and other well-known MK characters. It could serve as a MUCH more coherent story wrap-up than Armageddon ever was, and if they took the whole Devil May Cry/God of War/Ninja Gaiden approach, it would be a really kick-ass game.
