So the hype train has been pretty intense the last two days especially for me. It's actually my first time I'm watching a MK game be revealed step-by-step on an MK forum and I've got to say I'm glad I could be part of this celebration that happens only 4 years (rough estimate). So thanks guys for letting me be part of the hype :)

Now my main point about MKX. I've seen the reactions on the forum: Mostly good, a good portion feeling mixed (they have their good reasons) and some just flat out pout and whine about its "un-Kombatality" and its "Injustice-knockout" atmosphere and threaten to abandon MK. To be honest, my first initial reaction was confused at the amount of new characters presented, but then again so did those that watched the premiere of Deadly Alliance and look how that turned out :B Now I considering this game to be BETTER than MK9 in my opinion. I can't wait for further reveals!

Yet there are those who are predicting the plot of the game will involve more GOD DAMN time meddling and possibly some alterations that could wipe out the existence of new characters such as Cassie Cage (daughter of Johnya excuse my poor attempt at making an MK power couple) and bring us back to the original timeline either where MK1 or Armageddon left off. Now to be fair I thought MK9 was a GREAT game not counting some of the plot. Was it full of major plotholes? Yes. Were most of the characters poorly written? Yes. Did a combination of paranoia Raiden and Troll Chi fuck it up? ABSOLUTELY! AND I'M GLAD THEY DID IT!...Yes I said that! If fans know that the MK producers are going to make a reboot of the original MK trilogy, they have to expect that it will come out as a DIFFERENT version regardless of the nostalgic fans including myself who know the complete MK storyline in-and-out. Even if the story mode did come up wrong, how many new gamers who first came across MK2011 never bothered to read up on the original storyline and use that to expect what will come up in that game? And even if that happens and disenchants many gamers, this probably would lead them to read the original storyline and appreciate the consistency and the complexity behind it. Maybe the story purpose of MK2011 was to disappoint fans and lure them to go back, reading the original MK storyline in my opinion and use that in hand in preparation for the next game hinting at Shinnok to be the big baddie.

Thankfully from Ed Boon, that’s not going to happen and I’m happy! I don’t want MKX s be another version of MK4 and he gladly confirmed my wishes Now for the next big baddie I’m going to cross off Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Shinnok, Troll Chi, Onaga, Blaze and YES even Zombie Liu Kang and Dark Raiden have to go! I think Ed Boone is going to blow our minds in the end. In fact from the end of MK9 all along the way through MKX, I don’t WANT to go back to the original timeline! It had a good run. But granted I do think some of the characters killed by Sindel will come back, but should some of them just STAY dead? I mean Stryker had a great run in MK9, but do we really want him in every game? If a character gets killed and is then brought back to life, there must be a GOOD reason for how and why that character was brought back to life. Kung Lao, Kitana, Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Jax were killed in DA and brought back to life in Deception because it gave some of the playable characters something to fight for and most of them would turn out to be important in MK Armageddon.

Also, when is the last time an MK fan who was disappointed in an PRETTY GOOD MK game with a mangled story plot and some underdeveloped characters? MK4 back in 1997 yet even after those bullshit games like Special Forces, they managed to get their acts together and bring the story of Mortal Kombat to a new level in 2002 with Deadly Alliance. And what better way to present it than in the game intro? Upon seeing this, many fans’ faith in the franchise was restored despite Liu Kang’s death and unfamiliar new characters because they knew THERE WAS NO TURNING BACK TO THE OLD. From this point, it developed into a great story arc through Deception and up to that 60-character disaster Armageddon (though the Konquest Mode was good in my opinion). I can see a parallel with MK9 to MKX, plus with help from an unrelated-game Injustice for game mechanics where there’s a totally different storyline in MK9 that outrages old fans where it forwards into an unfamiliar, yet badass Mortal Kombat game like MKX. For me, there is no turning back to MK9 and fixing MOST of the things that Raiden fucked up. I was once outraged, but I MOVED ON. What happened in the past stays in the past and I want to move forward through 25 years, watching these veteran and new characters develop without any time travel fucking things up and see how far this timeline will go. Who knows? Maybe someday we’ll be looking back at MKX as a game that took a completely different storyline than the original and made itself into a trilogy and place it among the greatest revolutionary MK games of all time alongside Deadly Alliance and MK2 (in my opinion). I’m looking forward to this story that’s about to unfold and regardless of the disappointments, I’ll know that MKX was supposed to be an original game by its rights. I think we should all give it a chance.
