What happened to the shadow priests?

Do you think the order of shadow priests disbanded after the defeat of Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn during the events of MK9? Come to think of it there are no shadow priests in the old timeline either after MK3. Where did they all go? I was hoping to finally see a rogue playable one in MKX and I still have hopes for it in future DLC.
Ermac is the Shadow Priest, the ``Cloak`` character has been fused into him perfectly.

He also has Shao Kahn`s soul, and Shang Tsung.

Yea Ermac definitely looks and floats like a shadow priest now but their powers should differ greatly. I don't believe they were just absorbed into Ermac's essence after Kahn was killed off.

Idk but I always thought they were really cool. Ermac does kind of seem like he is taking up the role of one in a way with the floating and the hooded look.

They weren't referenced at all in the last game, and the dudes in the Tower and Soul Chamber were just called 'monks' in the MK9 artbook.

I guess they're gone.

Remove the object creating a shadow, and the shadow goes away.

I guess that happened.
