What factors into online odds?

Does anyone know what determines the odds of winning online? It certainly isn't only win/loss record.

You mean in a 1v1? Just who plays a better match really, but sometimes that can be messed up by lag and connection problems though.

I'm referring to the percentage stat that they give you online. I've seen people with high records and it gives me like 70% chance to win and then people with average records that give me a lower chance.
