Unaging Characters:
Ok I need your help guys to form a list of all the characters from previous games that could still be in fighting shape to return 25 years later, so we can speculate about which ones are returning.
- We know Scorpion is an spectre so he's likely the same.
- I think all dead characters could be risen now by Quan Chi, making them unaging. I think this applies to Sub-Zero and he's indeed Kuai Liang (I'm sticking with the Sareena saving him theory).
- I think Edenian doesn't age at the same speed than regular humans right?
- Ermac is made of souls so he has a lot of potential to return in fighting shape.
- Characters from the brotherhood of shadows (Sareena, Reiko, etc...) could return too as they're not humans.
Which other characters do you think have potential for a triumphal return?

Honestly, they could really go the Soul Calibur 5 route and say "well due to Netherealm magic nobody has aged", but I think you have most of the characters down. Anyone from MK9 who died can come back if they use that excuse. I think we're going to see some Tekken 3-style descendants and moveset successors.
Noob could come back, I mean last time someone was thrown into a Soulnado they came back as a champion of the Elder Gods, so...

I could see anyone from Outworld, Edenia, the Cyborgs, Netherrealmers, and people from other realms not age as much. But I think previous characters that do age can still be playable...they'll just be older. I mean I've seen some characters in fiction fight and they're well above 50 in human years.
Makes me wonder though what this means for the roster and who'll be in it.

So the game is taking place over a 25 year period? wow.
Aren't MK tournaments held every 10 years?

No. It was never specified, the interval is said to be a generation. And a generation from a sociological standpoint is more than 10 years.
Now onto the big reveal...
Now I am interested. It probably means that the MK9 casualties are indeed killed off.

I might be genuinely sad if Nitara doesn't make it in. I mean judging by the looks of this game, I think she'd be a perfect fit.

All the Edenians live for thousands of years, so there shouldn't be an issue there. Might as well apply to Mileena, who's sort-of Edenian.
Shang Tsung's age is always a total wildcard.

Tournaments used to be held every 500 years, but the tournament was corrupted by Shang Tsung and the tournaments were then held every fifty years. Shang goes on to win 9 tournaments and on the 10th (500 years later) is the tournament Liu Kang wins. Shao Khan also yells to Shang Tsung "Five hundred years I have waited! Now I must wait five hundred more!" when he returns to Outworld.

Edenians are safe. Kitana is 10,000 years old and she is still considered young by Edenia standards.
Outworlders have very long life spans I am guessing.

Not quite accurate. Shang's corruption of the tournament never affected how often it's held, all he did was add Fatalities, so that he could steal the souls of the fighters who die.
It was always once every 50 years.
They did used to say "it's held once a generation", but a generation can be any vague amount of time. They later clarified that it's exactly once every 50 years in Deception. But anyone could have figured that out on their own if they did the math of dividing Goro's winning streak, 500 years, by 10.
You could also go by Shang's age, which is given as 1000 years old in MK1. He has lived through two ten-tournament cycles.
Shang won the first 9 tournaments, Great Kung Lao won the tenth.
Goro won the next 9 tournaments, Liu Kang won the tenth.
