I saw other threads with ideas mixing in longer combos with x-ray for the finishing move and what not. But if there are brutalities in this game it would make so much sense for them being just ultra long x-rays.

Imagine 15-20 deadly strikes, x-ray style. That would be insane!!!
Crushing, chopping and what not, but you can see what's happening inside of the opponent body on slow motion.

You can elaborate on this idea if you like it :D

It won't look anywhere near as cool as you imagine it to be.

Well, I wouldn't like that very much.

I'd prefer it to be a really long combo, like MK3. Then maybe at the very end, they deliver a final blow and the whole body, or just the area affected, could be shown in x-Ray. Followed by an explosion of 3 rib cages, 5 skulls, 5 pairs of legs and 3 pairs of arms.

lol, that's awesome idea. Bring back the original brutalities !

Seriously, well maybe a mix of super long ultra kombo with x-ray moves here and there and then for the final 3, 4 moves only x-ray attack. All the x-ray attack of course must be different than the original x of the fighter.

Original brutalities were a filler finishing move in MK Trilogy. No need to bring them back 20 years later; such a waste of a finisher. Bodies exploding with far too many body parts looks dumb. Just my opinion of course.

After MK9, Boon confirmed that they had a fully-functional brutality system in the game, but it got cut due to time constraints.

I'd be kinda surprised if we didn't see Brutalities in MKX on that fact alone.

@TemperaryUserName:

That means nothing, lot's of stuff gets cut each and every game. Unless there's a major change to them, I never want to see brutalities again. X-rays more than took up their mantle.

It may not mean definitive evidence that they're back... but it does mean something. I don't think they'd put all that conceptual work to waste unless it was unsalvageable.

But don't get me wrong: I'm not exactly cheering for brutalities. I don't think the idea or execution was particularly interesting in Trilogy. My hopes are on friendships.

15-20 hits in slow motion. No. Talk about stale. And that is practically 15-20 second fatality time and no once wants to see that. And having it all in X Ray view will lose the X-Ray flair. The sudden shots of internal body damage makes it fresh all the time.

Hell yes!! I want Friendships to return more than any other finisher. With the tech they have now, they could be very cinematic and hilarious! I love the more mature feel of MKX so far, but Ed Boon has never been shy about adding some humor for a little balance.

Thats pretty much the idea I had. Once completed though the anatomy should be stuck in said position (i.e. if someones arms are hyperextended at the elbow they stay that way)so when it goes back to widescreen view the character doesnt look like he's just laying there

I definitely agree. I always prefer finishers that bring out the characters' unique attributes and personality. Friendships were perfect at that.

Couldn't agree more! The last we saw Friendships were in 1995, time for their triumphant return.

I don't want brutalities actually. Back in the day I felt like performing the brutalities during the matches instead of in a finisher. And besides, the brutalities were only the same moves we could already use but with faster animations.

The only really useful submissions are Fatalities (Theme Franchise), Hara Kiri (continue the dispute after the fight) and Stage Fatality (Interaction with Arena).

Sounds like it would be cool if it was like an extra long x-ray that ended up making the opponent explode. Imagine Johnny or Cassie beating up on someones testes until they rupture and thus some how causing the whole body to erupt in blood and guts!
