Since Liu Kang was based on Bruce Lee...
What if there is gonna be a new hero taking over the hero status unlike Shujinko & Taven... how about a fighter based on Tony Jaa?
Give it an Ong Bak & Protector feel.

I have no idea who he is... Is he as legendary and awesome as Bruce Lee?

It doesn't really answer my question though. :P
Just shows he's done some things.

Well, Bo'Rai Cho is kinda that character... though not looking like Jackie Chan, he does make use of the drunken master style and is being a comedic character, like Jackie Chang was the one who made the first Kung Fu comedies.

Back around the mid 2000s, Tony Jaa was to be the biggest martial arts star since Bruce Lee. He was known for his brutal combination of Muay Thai, gymanstics, and performing all of his own dangerous stunts without the use of wires, CG1 etc.
After a couple movies, he kinda had a Dave Chapelle moment, went off to become a monk, and his career lost steam. He's just starting to come back now and will apparently be in the next Fast and Furious film.

Then I will see him in the next Fast and Furious movie. ^^

Tony Jaa was also Robin Shou's stunt double in MK Annihilation (watch the Baraka fight).
And no, we don't need a clone of him in MKX. Sorry, but he's nowhere near as well known as Bruce Lee.

There's nothing particularly distinctive and memorable about his fighting style, the entire reason Bruce is easy to base characters on is because he has that really, really recognizable stance that no one else in the world does where he bounces around with his pinkies and thumbs sticking out, wipes his nose, and makes high pitched "woo"s all the time.

To be fair the boss voiced by Tony Jay would probably instantly make everyone come. Too bad he's dead.

I was thinking he would have been perfect for Shinnok, you know if they finally wanted people to take him seriously.

I cannot take Shinnok seriously. The guy only had one game where he was somewhat tolerable and not laughable. The MK4 era was a dark time indeed. perhaps Tony Jay would have made the cutscenes competent.

Just match that voice up with a redesigned more devil themed less robey (just let me get away with that please heh) Shinnok and I think you will see it would work very well heh.

Because he's supposed to be a wise, ancient manipulator archetype, like Palpatine in Star Wars, and looking like an old guy fits that character concept.

That would be even worse to me, at least.

I see no problem with NRS adding a muy thai fighter. But than in terms of his fighting style, not perse as in appearance.
