the character unlockable reward scheme sucks!

For one, the characters really arent hidden, you cna see their darkened picture on the fighter select screen, so you get an idea what they look like. Also, you know immedietly how many characters there will be to unlock. This severely takes away from the mystery. In the classic mortal Kombats, before everything was discovered, you never really knew how many hidden characters there are let alone and Idea what they looked like. This added great element of mystery which only made you want to keep playing to see if you could discover something new. Once jade, smoke, and noob were discovered in MK2, you still wondered if there was a 4th hidden one (hornbuckle maybe?). Im MK3 you still wondered if there were others hidden besides cyber smoke, or rain for UMK3.
But with the unlockable reward scheme, you already know how many there are. once you get them all, the element of mystery totally goes away. I dont like this. One of the things that Made MK stand out from all other fighting games was its element of mystery, it was famous for having easter eggs hidden in it, and you never would know if you found them all. The unlockable reward thing takes this away.
Also, The cool thing about the old way where you had to either do a code or figure out some secret to get a character or fight a character was that the game would be "out" for a while before anyone found it. So once the game started getting old, someone would make a discovery about the hidden character, and this easter egg would bring life back into the game. But If your a good player, you can unlock all unlockable characters all in the 1st week if you wanted to. after that then what? And plus, what if you just werent good enough to unlock all characters?
What boon needs to do is go back to the old way, get rid of the unlockable reward thing, remove the darkened pictures fro mthe fighter select screen. Bring back the element of mystery. Go back to secret codes and secret procedures that you must follow to unlock or fight a hidden character.

I made a post wishing that for MKA they hadn't told us anything about it - number of characters etc. and locked most of the content from the get go so that your entire playing experience would be full of surprises.
I was promptly torn a new asshole by everyone that replied to it. Regardless, I'd love to have the mystery put back into this game. In MKD, Raiden was (arguably) the so-called super unlockable along with Liu Kang. Not much mystery there, he's got the most recognizable sillouette in the game. Push down and start with they guy says "toasty!"

I like the idea of not showing darkened pics for the characters so you don't know who your unlocking. And the idea of unlocking at least 1 character with a code, but personally I'm a perfectionist and I like to know how much I can unlock so I can be sure I got it all. I hate feeling like I missed something, so they need to have darkened pics but have all of them look the same. Just some basic pic.
