That ? on the select screen better not end up being random select

After nine iterations without a designated spot on the select screen for random select, I continue to ask myself why all of a sudden is there one for MKX.

Fans have been clamoring for a 'Super Unlockable' since Deadly Alliance and I'm really hoping NRS takes this opportunity to give us that last little extra special addition to the roster that no one knows about.

Imagine your excitement if that ? space was empty when you first see the select screen & after the secret match in the living tower you unlock Fujin or Havik or Reiko. That'd be something special.

I think it is. They had a similar ? in the arena select and it was random select.

It could be an unlockable character, but I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah I thought the same thing about the arena select. Damnit, I just want there to be that one thing no one knows about that just makes us freak. The age of information sure ruins surprises.

MK9 and Injustice didn't have a slot for random select and with both Liu Kang and Shinnok being revealed as a part of the starting roster, there's a chance that the slot could be for the unlockable story mode character. Same thing goes for the "?" slot in arena select. It could also be a stage that's unlockable from story mode. I at least hope that's the case. It would suck if they were actually random select slots.

? is a special version of Shang Tsung where you`re set in a morph...

I hear ya, I am hoping for a secret unlockable character as well. We know there is a secret fight in the Living Towers, and I think someone mentioned an unlockable character after beating story mode? I cant remember though lol

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't there been a confirmation of a super-secret unlockable character? If so, shouldn't the roster leak be busted? There are 4 character slots on the CSS as of now, with Jaqui, Sonya, Jax, and Kenshi being confirmed playable but not yet on the screen. The leaked roster had 26 characters. I think it's fair to assume that none of them are the unlockable, and neither are any of those already shown. Wouldn't that automatically mean that there is one more we don't know about, someone not shown in the "leak"?

The placement of the box makes me think that highlighting the ? Box will open up the DLC slot vertically. So you go to the ? Box and 4 more boxes pop up above it. This way you can still see the characters above on both sides.

I actually liked MK9's approach. By pressing Square/X to bring up that extra menu with Hidden/Random select options.

I would like to think that's the way they're doing it again, but I guess time will tell.
