Like it or not mk vs dc is MK8, because it is a new graphics engine, plus it feels like mk1 agin even with the dc chars in it. So mayb MK9 will be like mk2-trilogy like boon said(OLD ROOTS).
I think to refresh the storyline, truthfully they need to make another disk with the MK9 disk. On this other disk it should be like a compilation disk, it should hav a mk1 fast 3d remake with all the hidden chars that was said 2b hiding from mk2 ( Smoke, noob, jade, reptile should b added to select screen. Char should only hav stage fatalities and 2 good fatalities. Char hav a uppercut/kombos/reversels/wake up system/roundhouse kick . The same goes for mk2 3d remake with all things in the original mk2- with all hidden chars that were hiding included on select screen/ with same mk1 features like roundhouse kik, uppercut /kombos/reversels/wake up system/ added to the mix- babalities/friendships/.
MK3 remake with also char from mkda-mka so it would be like a mktrilogy from the start instead of upgrades.

it should also hav same features as mk1&2, with added to the mix animalalities.
NOTE: For all the 3 remakes there was also a storyline change for each, adding up to the storyline of mk9 so that 4 now on storyline makes sense. Also rather u pik mk1,2 or 3 there should be these options 4 each A team mode, a strait endurance mode 4 the good players, online mode 4 all 3 games also, a 2on2 , and 3on 3 mode, also all these modes available for vs (2PLAYERS).
For now on like tekken online, there should be a choice to hav up to 8 ppl in the rooms watching the fight til their turns like tekken online is now and how arcades use 2b. Ithink this will definitely cut down on ppl pullin and quittin on fights alot, becaus ppl will b watchin. Im mad this wasnt added online for mkdeception, cus that game kiked ass and ppl who gav up on mk after mk4 jus dont know it. Mkd was only bad because there was infinites for certain chars and no wake up system also.
MK9 storyline should continue from MK3

I think that I kind of see what you're getting at here. But if they're going to do a bonus disk with the old games, I'd rather they just take MK1 and MK2 and given them a more modern makeover graphically. No, I'm not talking 3D, but just the best possible 2D graphics. Something that the graphical quality of Shadow Complex for example. Super detailed, with the backgrounds looking 1,000 times better. Same goes for the characters.

Also, as far as the character select screen, in MK1 you'd have Sonya, Sub Zero, Johnny Cage, Kano, Rayden, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, Goro, Reptile and Ermac.

Then, if there's room, have an MK2 which includes every character from that game as well.

Either way, I'd be happy with just one of these games as bonus content. I think that the idea would be awesome. They don't have to update the gameplay, but maybe add some more combos and some more special moves.

Think of it as sort of a directors cut. I know that Ed Boon has said before that he wanted Jax to be in MK1, well? Put him in! You wanted more fatalities in MK1? Put them in? How about a few other characters that never made the cut or that you had to cut out? More special moves? Full motion endings?

I'd take something like this over some tacked on konquest mode and I'd DEFINITELY take this over those minigames like motor kombat, test your might, chess kombat etc.
