After denying GameStop my appearance at the midnight release and tournament much to the GameStop employees dismay I had to pick the game up 16 hours late. Then I had to work a twelve and when I got home I of course had to update the game and download all the special codes that give me more bang for my buck. A pretty penny was spent on this game that I've held dear since the time of the Great Sega Genesis when I was only a young pup. After a nice long rest I then pursued the story mode with a vigor and tenacity like I've never given a game before. Here are my thoughts.

I have very few negative remarks for the often corny b-movieish Story mode. But there are a few nonetheless. First off I'm not understanding why Havik is nowhere to be seen. So im upset that the blood code and blood god was a story between the Netherrealm invasion and the Outworld Civil War. Kittelson did so much for the lore of MK but I really wish we would have seen more of his story enter the fray of MKX. This is where I'd really love to see story DLC come into play.

Did they really think the story would be more epic if it spanned 25 years but only use 12 chapters to complete?

The Boss fight. I've been ringing the boss fight bell for years now. CHANGE IT UP MK!!!! Who's writing this crap? Or better yet who's designing these bosses? Do yall not have a better imagination? I want something epic at the end of the story. Something I can say "Damn that boss was legit". They really need to come up with a serious update for the Boss both design and gameplay next go around. It's stale as fuck.

There was a scorpion thread about how he fucked everything up. Yeah he did. But guess who's dead? QUAN FUCKING CHI. Hanzo really could have fucked things up if Cassie hadn't saved everyone's asses(which I don't think she was ready to assume the role of Hero just yet), but at the end of the day Shinnok is powerless and Quan Chi didn't escape as per usual. Scorpions revenge story is over. Where does he go from here?

Phones gonna die. I'll post more or edit later.

At the risk of sounding like a snob, that's a pretty grandiose statement. What has he really contributed to the franchise so far besides four issues of a comic book?

I wish they'd get over the big rock-like monster with visible lava/energy.

They used this concept for Blaze, Dark Kahn and now Corruped Shinnok. Not only that, but Shinnok looks a lot like Dark Kahn with the same yellow lines along his body and the big crack on the front.

I actually liked corrupted Shinnok but I do agree they need to be a little more creative in the next game. I would have liked to see a big bad ass version of Mileena as boss, but oh well. I think they kinda ruined her chances for that now, unless she is redeemed in MK11.
