Why do shattered bone pieces explode OUT of the victim's body?? Even by MK's completely warped physics, this makes no sense at all.

You just answered your own question.

Warped physics and making no sense. It seems to make Mortal Kombat be what it is. There's really no answer other than that.

You know what bugs me about them? How long some of them are. Last time I was playing online somebody got in an x ray on me and I swear I was able to lean over, grab my phone, read a txt that just came through, and put it back down before it was over lol I believe it was Liu Kang's.

Well, you all got your Tremor now. Can we finally move on?

I just find it funny that people still talk about X-Rays as though the exaggerated damage is actually happening to the opponent - it's just visual flavor for a super move. I mean come on...the tamest X-Ray between MK9/MKX is more violent, deadly and gruesome than any fatality in the entire history of Mortal Kombat from MK1 - MKA.

They're not "canon" - they're just exaggerated super moves, showing extreme violence in typical Mortal Kombat fashion. MKX has the most gruesome, violent fatalities ever, and some of the X-Rays dwarf those fatalities in extreme violence level...but they're just exaggerated animations. For God's sake, Sub-Zero rips out a vital organ and Reptile pops both of the opponent's eyes and cracks their jaw in half...there's no way an opponent is going to fight, let alone live, after that. It's just more extreme MK fun.

Agreed. It's the only X-ray where I'm more pissed off about the length than the actual damage it causes.

I really wish you could skip them and it still does the damage though. I can't stand waiting for them to end. I want to fight when I start matches not sit there during it watching a mini movie.

I don't mind the cinematic part to it so much (until seeing them all for the thousandth time), but what bugs me is it completely destroys my willing suspension of disbelief. They go too far to then have the poor sod who just got his skull crushed in or balls exploded get up and jump around continuing to fight as if not in lethal amounts of pain.

MK9 did this just as much as MKX whereby you think, ok Scorpion just crushed your ribs and now you have no visible trouble breathing, WTF? At least with fatalities they are OTT but then the character doesn't survive the ordeal.

I largely prefered MK9's x-rays, because more of them were plausibly survivable than most of MKX's, which made them all the more cringe-worthy.

I know realism has never been MK's forte, but in the X-Rays' case, a little more realism doesn't hurt.
