What do you guys think? Did the reboot move the timeline of the original games or did MK1 still happen in 1992?

MKX takes places after Deadly Alliance would have taken place. Deadly Alliance was set 10 years after the first tournament.

Tough to say - the tech used in MKX is pretty futuristic but not by much, hence it wouldn't be impossible to believe that the technology being used is actually tech that is created in the 2030's.
However, the original game was set in the era that it was released...it wasn't the distant past or the near future. So, it's feasible to believe that we went from 1993 to 2015 - nearly 25 years - in time jump, and that the game is set in 2015-2020ish

Thing is, that some things seem to confirm we're on the DA-A era (Frost being there, Kitana's ladder ending) while others make it seem like we're past that point (the existence of Cassie and Jacqui, Kenshi and Li Mei being older.)

Wasn't Frost in a flashback, meaning we could still theoretically be past, even if it isn't by much, the MKDA/MKD era?

Frost didn't only exist within the confines of Deadly Alliance. She made her way to Sub-Zero around the same time and has been around him since then. Since the Special Forces took her into custody after the MMA fight with Cassie, chances are that's how she met Kuai Liang.
Kitana's ending doesn't mean anything either. In her vision of the original timeline Shao Kahn was killed and she's now queen of Edenia. It doesn't say how much time went by between these two events.
We're past that. The current portion of MKX's story takes place more than 10 years after Armageddon happened in the old timeline.

For starters, if MKX's story spans 25 years from now, then the future parts take place in the 2040s, not 30s.
As for technology, remember that technology in MK's earth has always been far ahead of ours, and still is to this day, with the cyborgs, and Sektor's ship in MKA. So the tech doesn't mean MK9 didn't take place 20 years ago.
Anyway, I do like the idea that MK9 was set in the past, even though I'd come to the conclusion that when they rebooted the series, the first three games' events now took place in the 2010s, the same way the James Bond movies are always set in the present. But on the other hand, I find it a little unlikely for some reason that MK's story would take place in the future from now on.
I think that it's open to interpretation at the moment.

Wow, you're just a joy, aren't you?
And uh, I hate to break it to you, but for the record: 2011(MK9) + 25 = 2036.
So, no. It wouldn't be taking place in the 2040's, even if MK9 was set in modern times.
