We all know that the latest revealed is Goro, therefore I have an assumption that why there is so many giant character like Kotal Kahn, Ferra Torr and now Goro in MK X? With the total 9 character that being revealed, 3 will be giant slow character and 4 character that will have a wrestling grappling like fighting styles including Kano...

What are your thoughts guys?

I kinda wish they would finally move away from the large therefore slow stereotype.

A larger characfter has larger steps, closes faster. Moving his bulk may tire him faster, but large characters are not necessarily slow. Kinda like knights, fast and hard, though you have to kill the opponent as fast as you can.

Kotal Kahn is the same height as Raiden and has similar preportions. Torr looks bigger then he is since his arms and upper body are much more bigger then his legs.

I am certain some some quicker characters will be in the game to complement the roster though.

I just think they are trying to make the characters a little diverse in terms of gameplay like they did with Injustice.

Some one said that Goro is taller than Torr, in one of the Goro threads.

Goro would look much taller due to that Torr is hunched over. If Torr stood straight up, he could possibly be the same height as Goro.

THANK YOU.

You put slow moving characters in a game and I personally will never give them a second chance. As a person who likes fast paced action, this shit kills me in Fighters. Since MK9 Sonya Blade, I dreamed of a character that has chain command grabs and I finally got it in Injustice, Solomon Grundy, but his slowness ruined it for me. I want to like Kotal Kahn, I want to like Ferra/Torr but I most likely wont...and it's a shame since it's two new characters.
Besides for other reasons, I ain't buying Goro, so whatever to him...

And I'm sick of this false idea of balance "hurrderr he's slow as shit BUT powerful as fuck!".
Not every character needs to be a "Zangief".

I believe NRS did it right with Doomsday in Injustice.
Big dude with average movement speed.

Let's go with that, yes?

I've always been in favor of adding larger, grappler-style characters in the game. They might be slower, or less combo-based, or have larger hitboxes cause of their size but they can do more damage and have more stamina so you can always balance them out just fine. SFIV did a decent job; Zangief and T. Hawk are concidered mid-top tier in USFIV and have very decent matchups. I exptect MKX to have a similar approach

I'm more concerned in about hitboxes. Some of these bigger characters are going to struggle if they're forced into the grappler archetype without range tactics (thank heavens Goro isn't).

That was huge in MK9. A lot of characters were high tier in credit to their hitbox size. If Kung Lao had a bigger hitbox, he would have easily lowered in the ranks (he's still top 5 in MK9; I don't give a fuck what anyone says).

People may counter saying that the larger characters weren't hurt by their hitboxe size in Injustice, but Injustice didn't have MK9's pressure system (in theory, MKX doesn't either). I'm not saying that grapplers can't be successful in such an engine, but if the engine favor's a specific style, let's diversify the fight styles for larger characters.

Could you explain what a hitbox and what a pressure system are?

(Blanka's Hurtbox is highlighted in Green here and shows where a move has to land to count as a "hit". These "vulnerable" spots are box shaped in the characters animations, hence the name)
Hitbox (or Hurtbox as Temp is referring here) is the active vulnerable frames a character has where they can be successfully hit by other characters. Smaller "low hurtbox" characters are harder to hit, apply pressure to, and re launch into juggles whereas the opposite is true for big meaty characters. In short, big hurtbox characters are easier to hit to the point that certain combos / setups will work on them when it won't for the rest of the medium/low hurtbox roster members.

As far as "fighting system" goes Temp is likely referring to the difference of dash cancel pressure in MK9 when compared to Injustice. Meaning in MK9 you can dash into normal strings for blockstring pressure that do chip damage whereas in Injustice you could not. It was one of the main adjustments from MK9 to IGAU that determined if someone was going to stick with IGAU.

I love that the roster will be more diverse. I image that we will get Shao Kahn as DLC and another huge new Fighter

Agreed, although I'd say he was a hell of a lot faster than average speed. DD was all about that rush down. 2 Ex shoulders took you from corner to corner practically. He did have some slow normal's though that made them unusable which was annoying. Bane was also crazy fuckin fast for a big character.

But yeah, I really liked that Injustice had some radically different sized characters, and so far with MKX Kotal and Torr aren't that big. Especially Kotal, he's the same size as every other character people just get thrown off because Kahn is in his name. I hope Goro is massive. Hope he has a Grundy like variation and a Doomsday variation and I'll day one main that beast.

Also, I'm not convinced Kano is a grappler. In one variation he has some Joker style parries that will be useless and more than one throw. Grundy would smash tiny robot eye man. Kotal looked like he might have some chain link grabs tho but I haven't seen enough from him.

I love the heavy grappler characters, the more the merrier I say. Tremor, if he's going to be included, is bound to be a heavy hitter also. I love my fast paced action dudes/girls too, but I like to use different types of fighters every now and then. Damn, Goro's gonna be a beast!

If Goro has a Grundy like variation, he will be my main...no question. I loved Grundy in Injustice.

Yeah we got Goro and Torr, now we only need Sheeva, Kintaro, Motaro, Moloch, big Blaze, Onaga and Shao Kahn and the game is done!

I'd like a really small character on the roster. Not as small as Ferra, but just a little bit smaller than a normal sized human character. I'm not really familiar with Injustice, is there any one like that in the game?
