Should we pay for the same DLC twice?

With Rain being requested by plenty of fans, and Skarlet's new design in the comics increasing her chances of being DLC imo, do you think they should re-use any of MK9's DLCs as DLC again?

To me, it depends on the character. Skarlet's still fresh and unexpected enough to work, but Rain should have been playable from the start just like Kenshi, if they wanted him to appear in the story mode as a fightable opponent. It'd be a different story if he'd been part of MK9's initial roster like he should have been, with someone else as one of the DLCs.

Freddy would also work as DLC again imo, as they could pull a Joker and make him very different from his previous self, such as giving him Robert Englund's likeness, one glove and dialogue which he sorely lacked in MK9.

I wouldn't want both Freddy and Skarlet back though, unless we also got at least two other fresher characters alongside them like Li Mei and Havik.

Rain should be patched in for free ;)

Anyway I don't mind, if they decide to do Rain and Skarlet as DLC again ill purchase them again. Anyone that would have a problem with it could just not buy them.

It's up to the individual. I would buy Rain again, the boxed copy of MKX felt really full to me so I'll gladly pay for more content.

I think that there is no chance of rain bring free. Right now he has a model and a very limited moveset. If all they did was let you pick him as he is he would still need an x-ray, fatalities, intros, an outro, an arcade ending, more voice acting, and to properly balance him. (3.99 seems fair for this)

Otherwise he would still need a better moveset, variations, and other thing only playable characters have.(bios, character viewer etc). This is in addition to everything I previously listed. (If they did all this I think 4.99 is fair)

Either would likely suffer criticism of being unfair as either would be "paying twice for the same dlc" but expecting anyone to do this type of work entirely for free will never happen despite some entitled people saying "he should have been on the launch roster."

I wouldn't mind it at all if Rain ends up a DLC character again. I would buy him again. It's up to that person to decide or not if they want to buy him.

The one thing that I could maybe see, is maybe a 25% off or something to the people who did purchase Rain or Freddy or Skarlet in MK9.

I just wish dlc characters had Alts.

I don't understand this "pay for the same DLC twice" argument. He would have a new look and variations, just like every other returning character you have already shilled money out for. What's the problem here? They would not release MK9 Rain, and you all know it. You had no problem "paying" for Scorpion and Sub-Zero for the millionth time, how is this hypothetical situation any different??

I think it's very different.

For one thing, I don't think anyone would buy a full MK game for 2 characters that will be in every MK game no matter what. I certainly wouldn't. I buy MK games for more than characters.

Rain on the other hand, if he makes DLC would be a standalone character. One that we already paid for in MK9. It makes me think NRS doesn't believe Rain is good enough to be part of the main roster when he very well should've been. And that they can keep ripping people off by making them pay for the same character twice in a row.

Now if people want to buy him if he makes DLC, go right ahead. But I can't support that kinda shit.

Both Rain and Skarlet are lame as fuck, so i wouldn't buy them, but it has nothing to do with the fact that they were paid DLC before.

Well, when you really think about it, you're not paying for the ''same'' DLC. IF Rain were to become DLC, he would have 3 variations, different combos, different special moves, different fatalities, a voice actor, also new brutalities.

MK9's Rain is just that, MK9 Rain, with his specific attacks and moves.

The only con is that Rain's model is already in-game in MKX, while a shame they didn't include him in the first place, it wouldn't be the same as his previous entry. Just my thoughts

I don't buy the whole, "he should be dlc because he should've been in to begin with" b.s.. There's a few characters that could fit that bill.

I say, he had his spot in MK9. At this point, if they do put him in, there will be a huge shit storm from people that are absolutely convinced the dlc was on disc the whole time. Its not true, but try telling that to half the conspiracy theorists in this community.

But whatever, as much as I love NRS and how far they've brought the series, they're history with picking great dlc is(in my eyes) a bit sketchy.

Exactly. Rain was in the campaign, but he was a shell of a character. I think the guy who manipulated the PC version and played Rain and Baraka proved that.

If Rain were to become a character worth playing he would need way more work than what was on disc. If people can't understand that and get huffy over "on-disc DLC," then they don't understand the situation at hand, and we shouldn't worry about them.

I'd personally love to see characters like Skarlet and Rain get another shot. I think the MK X system is far superior to the MK9 system, and I'd like to see how these characters would thrive.

Exactly^ but knowing WB it won't be free. WB is the reason mk x has microtransactions and bs pre order bonuses

Has Klassic Fatality as DLC again in Mortal Kombat X, then dlc characters again is not something impossible. I would not mind if he had Skarlet and Rain as DLC

For Rain? Gladly.

I'll say again though that if they can promise to include him in the initial roster of MK11, then I wouldn't mind waiting until then.

2 things:

1. They were not free last time. This time around they cost nothing and are free for everyone.

2. The Klassic Fatalities came with the Klassic ninja outfits. They were not standalone, however these Klassic Fatalities are.

It's not the same thing.

I can easily see Rain being free as part of the new Kombat Pass, otherwise charged if purchased separately.
