We all know that Raiden has decapitated Shinnok yet he seems to live somehow ? Is Shinnok dead or alive now. and I know that within the story they said it is impossible to kill an elder God ?

Couldn't he split the head in half?

It was stated Elder God's are impossible to kill, which is why dude is still alive when he is nothing but a decapitate head (There are fates worse than death)

So no, IMO it is not his end. All he needs is someone to attach his head to a functioning body and he should be good to go, and im sure Liu and Kitana will keep his head in a liquid filled jar or some sh** until they find a way to restore him lol

I do wonder what would happen if they just crushed his head completely though, if he is impossible to kill then would he regenerate? Or just be a conscious pile of bloody chunks?

I'm curious about that, too. Raiden blowd himself up in Deception and returned as Dark Raiden. How much bodily damage must be sustained to trigger reformation?

I'm hoping there is some twist down the road that the Shinnok from MKX isn't actually him but his clone plan being initiated again. And the real Shinnok is still just biding his time and manipulating things behind the scenes due to him having knowledge of the previous timeline as it was hinted at in one of his mirror mach dialogues.

And the reason he sent this clone at all was to both imitate the previous events and also corrupt Raiden.

If not. I mean, how hard could it be for a god to regenerate a body in hell?

Raiden's soul intermingling with Quan Chi's and Shang Tsung's is what did him in.

Thank you all guys. I understand your logical opinions and totally sure now that Shinnok will return but I wonder who is gonna be the main villain or villains Dark Empress Kitana and Emperor Liu Kang or a sorcerer like Shang Tsung and Quan Chi ...Maybe we can see Havik,Reiko or Onaga in the next game !

I don't think you understand. The next game will be about Raiden waging war against the other realms and the other Elder Gods. Shinnok is stuck in a living hell worse than death.

Any reference to "Shinnok Regenerating" is pure conjecture. The game didn't fucking mangle him just to bring him right back.

I think shinnok is getting the shao Kahn treatment and is getting benched for a few games. But they left the door open for him to return in some form. I'd guess he'd be out of mk 11 and might be a non boss character sometime after that.

Shinnok is not done. However, I don't expect him back any time soon. One major difference that the series is taking is that they seem to be definitively doing away with bosses when they are defeated.

Shao Kahn was very much destroyed - there's barely an inkling of him left other than Ermac.

Shinnok is wholly defeated, and completely incapacitated. His power is trapped within the amulet, and he himself is stuck in a physical form that is nothing more than a severed head.

With the direction the series seems to be going, with Dark Raiden ending up batshit insane and possibly wanting to wage war on all other realms to ultimately protect Earthrealm, I can see Shao Kahn returning - resurrected as the champion of the Elder Gods, their one major weapon against Raiden (who was unable to defeat Shao Kahn until empowered by the Elder Gods).

I like to think Raiden's ending is the most canon, except with the added detail of him being reincarnated as Dark Raiden. He chooses the Shirai Ryu to wage his was against the other realms? But not the Lin Keui? Maybe because unlike Scorpion, Sub-Zero is actually a resonable guy and doesn't thing interdimensional imperialism is a good way to protect the realms. That would be a good way to revive the rivalry between the Lin Kuei and the Shirai Ryu. I wrote more about what might happen in MK11 here.

He will be back. Something tell me that Liu Kang and Kitana will give Shinnok a new body and they will try to finish what they started in MK X. Since they are the new rulers of the Netherrealm, I'm sure they can do that

(After end scene of MKX blacks out, it zooms out, revealing it's a TV screen and in the shadows, a newly-resurrected Shang Tsung (Cary Tagawa) is eating some popcorn.)

Yes... >:)

I remember that dialog. The only thing wrong with that plan is that it seems a little too close to Shao Kahn's clone story. But aside from that, I would love for Shinnok to be plulling the strings. It would make more sense logically. As old as he is I expect him to be a master mind at everything. In most series where characters are extremely old it rarely works out that way.sad

A better question is why are Lui and Kitana still evil revenants without Quan or Shinnok controlling them? And is Raiden fucking dead or is he dark raiden? If he is dark Raiden why is he in the fucking netherrealm working with two characters that fucking despise him? Why are lui kang and kitana (especially Lui tho) suddenly friends with Raiden now that he has yellow eyes and is being a dick to Shinnok?

What? There is no friendly dialogue between Raiden, Liu and Kitana. He is threatening them.

Heh, make it so that he created a surrogate body for himself to engage in the war with Raiden. Not quite a clone but still not truly Shinnok. Would make sense seeing how the clone plan bit him in the ass the last time he did it.

And if they went this route they could also explain why this time Quan Chi was actually a devout servant of Shinnok instead of playing him.

This time Shinnok knew Quan Chi's intentions confronted him and threatened him and put him in a position where Shinnok was fully in control this time.

The first part I am not sure, earlier in the story Sub, Scorp, and Jax were freed when Qaun got his ass kicked by Sonya, but for some reason the others weren't freed when Qaun was killed, idk what the difference was beside them not being close by when he died, so not sure.

Kung Jin did say it would kill Raiden if they put him in the Jensie (which they obviously did) but it was never stated if he died or not, I assume he did not die and all that corruption/evil in the Jinsie just corrupted Raiden a bit. I like to think his body absorbed it, cleansing the jinsei, but corrupting him.

Dark Raiden was not working with them though, he wasn't being friendly either lol he brought their leaders head in a bag and pretty much gave them a warning saying that from now on if anybody fucks with Earthrealm he isn't taking anymore shit and is just going to f their shit up, and to heed his warning lol

You're both right. Although a lot of the details are vague and confusing, like why they needed Quan Chi alive to restore the other Revenants? How does killing Quan Chi and Shinnok result in a different outcome? Two conclusions I get from what we see in the Story mode:

1. Kitana and Liu Kang are still high on Hatred and Netherrealm Bath salts.

2. Liu Kang explicitly explains he has a grudge against the Elder Gods earlier in the Story Mode, just like Dark Raiden, so it was a threat, but also their interests align now.

Also when you realize Dark Raiden is the one who sent the message to change the timeline, leading to the Shirai Ryu and Netherrealm helping his war against the Elder Gods, you'll see everything went according to plan. Who initiated Armageddon again? The Elder Gods.

Er, they did? Because from what I got, Armageddon was an inevitable event that was bound to happen due to an overabundance of super beings throughout the realms. There existence would begin to rip the very fabrics of the realms and then due to Shinnoks manipulating both sides to meet in the crater escalated things causing Armageddon. The realms were on the verge of imploding due to that.

PS: You are really giving Vogel way too much credit. I doubt any of this has even crossed his mind and they fully intended on portraying Dark Raiden as normal Raiden in MK 2011.

Oh, I mean Armageddon as in the specific events of that game, not Armageddon as in the end of all the realms. I meant raising the Pyramid and summoning Blaze. Armageddon was back in the PS2 era where the continuity was especially... confusing. Where the difference between God and Elder God was moot. MK9 states the whole pyramid/Blaze/armageddon was the will of the Elder Gods, so that is what I was going by.

I'm compromising it as Argus and Delia created the Pyramid condition to prevent total armageddon, under the orders of the Elder Gods.
