Not only is Quan Chi shown as the leader of the brotherhood of shadow in faction mode, but the crest for the brotherhood has Quan Chi's face on it as well. While the faction leader could be a place holder, I doubt Shinnok would mold his crest around Quan's face. I think that severely hurts Shinnoks chances if not outright obliterates them, which is a major bummer. He was the 3d era character I was most looking forward to. I'd say his best chance at being in the game is getting stabbed in the back by Quan Chi some point in the opening cinematic. At this point we'll be lucky if he gets a speaking part during his brief cameo, let alone a spot on the roster.

Honestly I'm getting the strong sense this game will be only MK9 returnees and new characters. Fujin MIGHT have a shot at DLC. Thats the way things look now at least. People on this site have mentioned before that maybe the returnee's are getting revealed first because they're more recognizable and the 3d era characters will come later. I agree with that, so there is still some hope, but every day closer to release diminishes that. Still tho, the game looks amazing either way.

Everything mentioned in the first and third posts shouldn't have been said at all. It's time for Shinnok to rise! A lot of people want Fujin and people want Shinnok, especially myself and MINION.

As Cassie as confirmed character is guarding place to Sonya as leader of faction. Quan Chi can be doing this to Shinnok. And as the face above the symbol, just a skull, not necessarily of Quan Chi.

Shinnok : This displeases me.
Sonya : Well tough luck false god.
Shinnok : Your luck has run out mortal.

Shinnok: You betrayed me Quan Chi!
Quan Chi: Tricks are my specialty!
Shinnok: Now I fight for Earthrealm!

Quan Chi: You fail miserably Shinnok...
Shinnok: I'll take you down!
Quan Chi: I don't fall too easily!

I feel like Shinnok and Fujin are shoe-ins.
