Sad Day in MK!!! What Could Have Been!!!

I was so excited about the possibility of having so many fresh faces in MK X. The build up starting with Cassie and Kahn and then D'vorah. Those three characters really upped the stakes and showed what a new and fresh MK game could bring. Then we started to get reveals of MK 1 characters....... MK 1!!! I know that we are always going to have Sub and Scrop, but come on........ Today its revealed that a good portion of MK 9 wow factor (finally killing off a good chunk of characters) was complete garbage. Every character from MK 1 except for Shang is in MK X. Every Character from MK 2 is in except Shang, Baraka, and Kintario. Why??? Story mode is a great place to feature Jax, Sonya, and Cage, but find better story tellers that can flesh out some of the great DA, Deception, and Armageddon characters you came up with. You know why you lean on Kenshi and Quan??? Its because you took the time to develop them with actual story!! Try that with Havok, or Fujin, Hotaru, hell even Kobra. I will reserve my final judgment for the game when it is released, but today with the reveal of Jax, Sonya, and Johnny I really feel let down by the same old shit. This was your chance Boon like you originally promised a fresh start and you just couldn’t help yourself.
The Forgotten (Yes I understand every character cannot be in every game, but if do not have the creative ability to come up with fresh characters think of the past ones that could have potential and why you originally created them!!!)

- PS: If you need ideas or stories to flesh out some of your forgotten characters give me a call anytime!!! I have played and loved MK since the beginning and I would hate to see it just repeat itself to a degree that hardcore MK fans cannot stand and shouldn’t have to. Thank God for Kotal and his followers, otherwise this would be a shit storm!!!!

Boon also "promised" a fresh start with MK8
We got Scorpion vs Batman instead.
Lowered expectations FTW
They probably have so many returning characters because it's their first time doing a three variation system like this and they want to make sure they get it right, so that if next time they use it again, they can use some other returning characters and new characters when more experienced with the system and bringing fresh new variations to it.

I think it looks like a solid game and I'm excited to see it in action even if I might not get this one, but you just gotta remember that there will always be another MK game that'll be different and probably have something you'll enjoy.

If you look at this game like Deadly Alliance, with lots of returning characters and a few new gen characters in a new style of gameplay, the next one will probably bring in more new characters and shake up the list of veterans like Deception.

Your probably right...... but now I just read that the PS3 version will be delayed. Don't have enought money to buy a new system and the money I did have I preordered MKX at gamestop. Now the wait seems unbearable!!! Sad day in MK history!!!

Oh,another rant thread,whatever....Ed Boon promised "wiping the slate clean" like 10 years ago and it didnt happen,he promised the same with MKX,didnt happen either except for D'Vorah and hte rest,who knows,maybe there were more new characters in development but i doubt we are gonna see them.

Overall I do find the current roster somewhat safe, predictable, and uninspired when it comes to returning characters. With that said, to the best of my knowledge, we don't know the full roster size so it's premature to condemn the roster. Some shocking surprises could still lurk but...definitely not getting my hopes up but it's possible.

Sad for some, perfect for others. Look at the comercial for the mobile version of the game. They pretend that what happend between MK3 and MK reboot did not even take place.

I am super happy this is the case.

I just need Cyrax, Fujin, Noob and Smoke and this is pretty much perfect roster for me.

There is nothing to worry about ! Do not take consider anyone's roster PREDICTION ! They don't know and cannot who is gonna be in MKX either! There is still a high chance for Tanya,Reiko,Fujin and Li mei. furious

In one of the first videos for MKX, Ed answered an interviewer with "You'll actually be surprised with some of the characters who made the roster." But (besides the newbs obviously) nothing is surprising about this roster at all. Maybe Goro, that's it. Yes, Safe and Predictable are both Good words to describe it.

Am I the only person who sees how uncreative these new additions to the roster are? Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, Takeda and Jacqui Briggs? What a cop-out. They're essentially rehashed from classic characters. Don't even get me started on the Kitana/Jade thing. SMH.

Yah, freedom of speech and such except this incessant bitching has reached insufferable levels of spamming at this point and it's interfering with us who want the right to actually be stoked about this game and discuss it in a calm, non spoiled/entitled crying manner.
