"Yay"
I don't really care how they do it. Just bring it back.

Yeah , the run feature was so great in MK3 , I find it really cool and violent to run to your opponent and give him a fast forearm smash and a few punch with the screams that came with it. You can run in most fighing games in 3D nowadays. I hope the speed won,t be affected in next-gen MK. You know Deadly Alliance was great but the pace of combat was slower, bring back the RUUUUNNN !!!!!!

Running should be put back in.
f,F = Pretty much every fighting game that has running in it.
R+f = MK
or just F = Soul Calibur / Tao Feng

I was going to say that id rather not have run as opposed to a quick dash forward and backwards. i also reckon the use of a button for blocking is kinda outdated and makes mk more awkward than it has to be in terms of defensive and aggresive switches. I do think this though the mk team should spend time looking at there rivals because as good as mk is and as nice as it looks it realy does feel like its 5 years older than some of the other beat em ups that came out last year or the year before

I'd love to have running back, but I don't think they should remove the indivdual Run and Block buttons. It's one of the things that made MK unique way back when, and it should stay that way. I like it how it is.

A block button can be put to better use, like allowing you to do some things more easily than in a game like Tekken5.
For example
holding block could cancel long commands in to basic ones.
This is a problem I run in to sometimes in Tekken5.
If I'm using Jin Kazama, and I do a back dash then I want to do his cross elbow to low kick combo = f+2,3.
The first punch of his laser scraper combo comes out instead = b,f+2.
using the block button to cancel the special command to a basic one would fix little problems like this.
Instead of doing... Back dash, f+2 = Wrong move comes out if you do it too soon.
You would do....Back dash, Blk+f+2, eliminating the problem with the laser scraper.
There are a lot of things like this the block button can be used for.
For the rest of the buttons, since MK games tend to be short on the moves list. Using less buttons would work just fine.
Example
1 & 3 = Block ( They do the same thing)
2 = Upper body attacks (punch)
4 = Lower body attacks (kick)
L = style change
R = Alter = Like in MKSM etc.
Examples = VF, DOA, SC, MKSM
MK doesn't need to use 8 buttons.

I don't find that type of fighting system appealing at all. The whole upper and lower, left and right thing just confuses me.

?
If you didn't have trouble playing MKA and MKSM then this is a little easier.
It's just Punch and Kick buttons.
I put upper body instead because the Punch button can be a fist, palm, elbow, head butt, back, shoulder.
Lower body instead of kick because it can use the feet, knees and hip.
It's just like the Punch and kick buttons in Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive.
Not confusing at all, actually it's easier to understand than the command lay out in MK now.
L and R buttons are used already and that's not hard or confusing either.

Nostalgia is good, but you don't have to be stuck in the past when there are better ways to do things in the future.

You're right, but how is it better not having a seperate button for run and block?

Just think about purpose for each button.
Block buttons can do many things.
block, Dodge, reversal, parry, jump, cancel....Facilitates things more than if you just use back or down back.
Punch and kick can do a LOT.
The style change button facilitates other tings in the fighting mechanics. Allows for a large number of options when switching from hand to weapon and doing combos.
What can you do with run that is worth while and can't be done with the other buttons or the d.pad just as well? IMO that makes it so there isn't much of a point in having a button for just running.

Wel, i agree they should. I remember playing MK1 with ,my brother, and he always used scorpions hook, and i didnt know anyones wepons. When i got MK3, i was able to use run, so i could get him befor he used sub-zeros freeze.
