Just viewed the last usage stats again of the charachters. My question is- Why is Reptile so underused? He seems to be more of the popular charachters but no one seems to be using him in MKX.

Is it because of the all-together same variations, hard to use, bland fatalities?
From what it seems there is a chance that he will miss next game and probably be replaced by Noob for the forth ninja charachter slot in MK11. (I'm pretty sure next game Noob will return and that NRS will probably stick to 4 ninjas per game if they dont expand charachter slots.)
I hope he is in the next game, but NRS should really take some time to reconstruct him to be desirable charachter and not going lazy with his gameplay.

I think for this game in particular is a combination of his ain't shit variations and them not quite being able to get a look that pleases a lot of fans. He just doesn't look appealing if you don't already like Reptile.

Most of the characters that were more popular than Reptile in MK9 returned in MKX and with the addition of some popular new characters such as Takeda, Cassie, Kung Jin and Erron Black it is no surprise he is near the bottom in my opinion.

I use him all the time, he's one of my mains, right behind D'Vorah.

It's probably the combination of: slow start up times for attacks, weak attack damage without using meter, not very vesatile variations, not great fatalities, very hard to execute/ not very worthwhile brutalities, and questionable design choices. Plus he's the butt of half the roster's jokes.

Some people do manage to kick ass with him, but I suspect most just won't want to go through the trouble. Also, most people say they want him to look like a human ninja, but NRS feels obligated to make him an actual reptile, even with "Klassic Reptile," and it just looks bad.

It's not really surprising to me. I've been going around other message boards and it seems the general consensus is that NRS really did drop the ball with him. They really didn't give people a reason to love him this time around.

He's still one of my mains and will continue to be so long as he's in an MK game.

I'm surprised. I don't use him, but he has some fun combos. Hard to do, but supremely gratifying when I win.

Sounds about right.

Great question, dipshit tongue

I don't think many people use him because his variations are extremely bland and he's bottom tier. People wanna win when they play and Reptile has an uphill battle with that. Also his fatalities suck and his brutalities are retardedly difficult to pull off in a real match. He's one of my mains and I feel like his gameplay is very linear, or like shallow, its hard to explain, there's just not a whole lot you can do with the character. I think his look is fantastic but NRS dropped the ball with everything else.

I remember when I watched the stream showcasing his variations I was extremely disappointed. I never cared for Reptile, but in MK2011 I really liked how he played and he was a fun character to watch when played at a very high level. Then I saw his variations and thought they were uninspiring and the one where he does chip damage just by standing next to you was retarded to me. Then also, his looks, just too much green. Too much green...

I agree with your 4 ninja assessment from here on out. However I think reptile and Ermac will be swapped by noob and smoke in the next iteration. Subby and scorp.. do I even need to say it?

I think that the theme of joke/cult-favorite ninja as DLC will continue to reside in the next installment with chrome beingin the first DLC pack. (If not chrome then I would imagine them switching back in Rain as DLC)

Reptile and Johnny Cage are my mains.

Reptile hard to use? Err no..useless variations? Yes, but easy Combos? Yes. He's great to use though. I still think his MK9 costume was his best.

Yeah.....they failed with Reptile this time around, it pains me to say. Kano and Quan Chi are also unpopular for MK vets but at least they have decent revamps. MKX Reptile just screams "We don't give a shit", from his bland design, boring variations and him being more pointless than ever in story mode.
