So with the Playstation versions being region-locked, does that mean that importers of the game are screwed and have to play with people from overseas?
Or is it tied to your PSN account / IP address (i.e. you will still play with locals on your local account even if you have an imported copy of the game)?
How was the situation with previous games?

Anyone care to comment on this?
After all, quite a few of us have imported the game for its Kollector's Edition benefits.

So I looked it up and it might be tied to the game. If you buy the European version, you'll only play on the European server and same with the NA version, no matter where you are. Correct me if Im wrong.
I usually am lol

I'm in Asia, and I'm getting the Asian version but I'll be playing on my US account. Hope I can get some good matches unlike MK9 with it's constant disconnects

That is just horrible.
So I have to buy the game again if I want to play in my own region? Who would think of such bullshit? No other multiplayer game does this.

Would this have any effect on inviting friends to play if they're in another country?

Yes. If you're not from the same region, you won't be able to play. At least that was the case with MK2011 on PS3.
Also, when I tried playing through my US PSN account (I'm in Europe) I still ended up in the same online lobby with the same people I would see on my EU account. It didn't help...

Ugh, well I hope they've changed that with MKX. So many other games offer worldwide online multilayer, there shouldn't be any reason why MK doesn't.

I'm pretty sure its gonna be the same as MK9 on ps3. EU with EU only, NA with NA only, regardless if you import it.

Wait, does that mean it is not tied to where you got the game from but where you're located?
Was it like this with MK9? If so, I wouldn't have to worry.

I tried it a few days ago with MK9. Some guy was streaming on twitch and I asked to be invited. But when I got the invite, it asked me to put in the disc for MK, while I had the game inserted.
He was from the US and I have an EU copy. Apparantly it looks where you're disc is from.
Also tried logging into my US account, but as someone above said... I got into the same server as on my EU account.

But what region were you playing the game from?
i had to buy the us version of mk9 just to play against american players. the reason why i did this is because there are far more people playing on the us server. i've preordered now the eu version of mkx, it shipped today and should be here tomorrow. if i can only access the eu server i will sell it and import the us version from amazon.com.

Wait, so...
This means that if I am in North America, I cannot play someone from outside my region? If so, that's pretty sweet cause with MK9 I was sick of constantly playing people from Brazil or Australia with shitty ass connection.

nothing to do where you are. depends only what version you and the other player are playing. but nothing confirmed yet, i'm still hoping for worldwide online play.

As far as I known there are 4 regions, each disk as a region.
Region 1 is US, Brazil and the entire America.
Region 2 is Europe.
Region 3 is Asia.
I think region 4 is Japan, not sure.

ok i was online playing a ranked match. seems like my opponent came from japan. when i look at the leaderboards it shows players from all regions. so it seems it has worldwide online play! edit: ok played another guy from kuwait. i'm sure they all have the us version.

Sounds promising...
Can anyone else confirm?
i'm afraid all the guys i was fighting probably have the eu version. in the rooms i mostly see eu players. i've ordered now the us version. and about the online play, i can say it sucks on the eu server. i was fighting also guys from Germany (where i am also located) and it was lagging as hell.
