i personally i prefer to spell Raiden's name as Rayden so I don't get confused with the character from Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4 and the upcoming 5th game which will be a spin off & an interquel

Okay... I'm pretty sure this doesn't merit its own thread. Is it that difficult to distinguish between cyborg ninja spy Raiden, and thunder god Raiden?

And we should care why?
You are unlikely to ever meet any misconceptions with using the official name Raiden for Mortal Kombat's god of thunder even when there are two Raidens in the video game industry, because they are from very different game series from different genres and from different developers. It's like calling the politician John McCain Jambo McCain for the reason that there already is John McClane in the Die Hard movies. Ah, the consistency.

You do know that in MGS, they don't say Raiden's name like they do in Mortal Kombat.
In MGS they say his name more like Rye-Don.
In MK, they say his name more like Ray-Den.
Just because they're spelled the same, doesn't mean they're pronounced the same.
So in real life if you have two friends, which are nothing alike, but happen to have the name Mike...you get confused?
Raiden the God of Thunder and Raiden(pronounced Rye- den) the spy are really nothing alike when you peel back the superficial spelling...

To be honest...I kinda prefer the 'Rayden' spelling over the 'Raiden' one too, but 'Raiden' is the correct one for at least in games. I remember hearing or reading that the 'Rayden' spelling was used mainly for movies and TV shows due to some copyright thing, but this is most likely wrong.
