A question I've ben asking myself.
What does "Thunder take you" means of refer'S to?

And also, "Thunder block'S the sun"... what?! Isn't it the storm, or the clouds that actually block the sun?Doesn't Thunder mean the sound that lightning bolts makes?

I'm a but confused.
I know it's not a crucial question or details, but I thought asking here couls help me understand.

Personally I think the "thunder blocks out the sun" sounds extremely contrived. I think NRS only put it there because they could not put anything else there that was better.

I think that when Raiden says "Thunder blocks out the sun!" he means that he is going to kick Kotal's ass... Because, y'know, he is the thunder god and Kotal is a sun god of some sorts... He doesn't literally mean that thunder in itself will actually block the rays of the sun from hitting the Earth's atmosphere.

But that's just a theory. ;P

I think he means
Where there is thunder, there is lightning
Where there is lightning, there is rain
Where there is rain, there are clouds
Where there are clouds, There.. Is.. No.. Sun.

It's a figure of speech. So in other words, Go fuck yourself Kotal Kahn't.

Considering his actions during MK9, I think we can all assume he's dumb and lacking the ability to formulate proper phrases is just one of the symptoms...

I think the plan was to make a pun between those 2 and their powers. But it failed hard coz it just doesn't make sense. It's like Raiden has to say something about kicking Kotal's ass but not directly. He has to mention how his power (being thunder) somehow beats Kotal's power (being the sun) and that's why Raiden beats Kotal himself.
Does the pun make sense? None whatsoever. Raiden is such a dumbass for a god lol

This is kind of ridiculous. You all know what he meant.

I do. It still doesn't make sense tho. It sounds like something you'd see in the "Intro Ideas" thread. You the ones I'm talking about.

They just wanted something that sounded cool, and it does. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know what he meant.

Pretty much "Let me kill you" would be the translation for that lol.

Let me repeat myself: "I do". As in, I do know what he means. It still sounds stupid to me tho. You like it. I don't. Simple as that. The only good thing about it, is Kotal saying "temporarily". That is sexy!

Did everyone really expect him to say "My thunder-clouds will block out the sun"? It makes sense regardless.

I'm sure there will be some more really bad intros in this game. wink

Just curious but what's stupid about it? The fact that it technically isn't correct? Logic is the last thing you want to look for in MK.

It's not that everything in MK has to make sense. It's just that it is stupid dialog. There are some ideas in the intro ideas thread here that make you go "Wtf? What does that even mean?". Well this for me is one of them.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to get them. They just have to make sense and not seem so forced. Is it so hard to understand why I would find it stupid? It surprises me how weird you find that. I can understand why you like it and I think it's perfectly understandable why someone would dislike it. Just a matter of taste.
