I think till now we've assumed that because Kitana and Kung Lao are back that Quan Chi loses his army pretty early on, but what if Raiden can only bring a few back and the rest are still under his control during the game, and Quan Chi is still adding warriors who die in this game to his group.

This is interesting because of how old some characters are, this may be their last hoorah, but the likes of Kabal, Nightwolf and Smoke could be resurrected at the end and still retain their youthful appearances as the dead don't age. Though this is game will end at 25 years in the future, this could be a loophole to keep those characters around and not kill them permanently.

Nah, it sounds more like some try-hard, death metal video game music cover band to me. Or an Elton John song.

Even when naming this thread I thought, "Damn, that would be a funny band name"

Hell, the Netherealm is a pretty grim place, maybe Quan Chi forms this band to spice up the place from the usual monotony of death and dismemberment.

I don't think Raiden will be able to save them all, and the ones he chooses to save may affect his relationship with some. For example, Kitana and Sonya never really chatted or anything so their relationship is normal and all. Let's say Raiden saves Jax over Jade. That would anger Kitana, causing her to be ultra pissed at Raiden and maybe even Sonya. Then, since Liu Kang is mad at Raiden anyways, that could escalate his anger since Kitana is his lover. But I don't know why Raiden would only be able to save a few.

Maybe because other people beat him to the punch.

Kano has unfinished business with some of the Revenants; Kabal, SZ, Smoke, Stryker and Jax could all serve Kano as Revenants. Quan Chi could buy Kano's cooperation. Alternatively, Kano could take them by force in the name of the Black Dragon.

Nightwolf could sacrifice himself again to free Sindel in the ultimate act of forgiveness. Kitana being saved by Nightwolf is also a possibility as he just failed to keep her alive in life, perhaps he can accomplish that task in death.

Liu Kang could save Kung Lao.

No offense, but that is fucking awful. Hopefully something so ludicrous doesn't happen, ever.

No offense taken, but I can't see any other way for them to write themselves out of the 25 years later crutch and still keep some familiar popular characters. If the new guys go over well, they may not have to, and the next game may be very much like street fighter 3, with almost all new characters and 4-5 returning staples. If the game comes out and the fans hate almost every new character, then they may need to play fast and loose like this to bring back old favorites without it seeming like a senior citizen fighting game. That or hit the reset button again (sigh, hope they don't just reboot it again)

I agree, I think they drove themselves into a corner with the 25 year later aging thing, especially since it is generally accepted death is only momentary in MK, they go and do this and now they might have to find a way to keep characters from dying of old age, even if don't like the idea you posted I also cant think of a good excuse to keep them young unless we have another reboot. NRS decisions really confuse sometimes.
