Poor Shinnok... (spoilers)

I felt like NRS really did Shinnok a disservice in the end of story mode by both turning him into a generic demon and decapitating him in the epilogue. Shinnok is my favorite villain of the series precisely because he wasn't like the hulking, raw powered monster they turned him into. He's basically just Blaze or Dark Khan at that point.

I thought at least they converted him back afterward, but then the ultimate slap in the face was his severed head for the sake of a somewhat illogical epilogue. Why was Raiden so dark now, did he absorb Shinnok's power or something? Not very clear. When I found out Shinnok was returning I thought this was a chance to really revitalize the character. Which they did! But then they kind of undid it too.

I guess the logic was that Shinnok in his regular form wouldn't be menacing enough, but I think if they just increased the AI's difficulty and used the right variation it could've worked.

I noticed this time around, all the killed off characters were bad guys. I think in the process some of them got short changed. None moreso than Shinnok.

Plus we never got to save then rest of the revenants by kicking Quan Chi in the balls again...

I'm thinking Raiden went dark because he got corrupted when trying to revert the Jinsei.

But other than that, I think they did well with Shinnok, especially in the beginning when he was taking Johnny and Sonya on 2v1 and going Matrix on them.

Shinnok's transformation just blew my mind. I mean, the best NRS could do for his big huge demonic form was...Pyron from Darkstalkers?

Yeah, I was pretty satisfied with Shinnok overall, too. He was portrayed as a real threat, got to beat on a lot of other characters, got some cool lines... I'm happy.

Maybe they'll staple his head onto Quan Chi's body for the next one.

I'm a bit upset with what they did to Shinnok. THE BOSS. The guy who is supposed to be the guy everybody is trying to stop.

Shinnok has little to no appearance in the story and it's such a shame because he looked great and sounded smart.

Also the ending was shit, not the Dark Raiden part, I think that's kinda cool. I'm talking about how Shinnok was stopped, it was seriously bullshit.

Once we found out he was the boss it was kind of a given he would have a transformation of some sort, he already had one back in the day in MKMSZ and in his bio card Boon stated he probably shouldn't have been the boss of MK4, implying it was because he was not large.

I agree. It just ended. And Cassie being the one that stopped him? I like the girl but get the fuck out, don't have Cassie of all people to stop Shinnok. There really should be DLC to expand the story for 6 more chapters atleast. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with such a lackluster story. It's my only gripe because it was like half of what MK9's story was. It was like a tv show compared to a movie.

Imo, Raiden becoming Dark was one of the few things that was clear. He was infected with Shinnok's dark energy, just like he was with Onaga's in the first universe. I didn't mind Shinnok being decapitated, that was awsome! But I did have a problem with him being beat by a human.

I also liked that he transformed, as I imagine the gods have numerous forms, but they could have done better with what they choose.

I too wish he had more screen time.

The fuckery shinnok got this game story wise has embarrassed me as a fan. I love nrs for bringing him back but how menacing he was at the end of mk9 til now just had me like what the actual fuck.

Shinnok is badass in this game. What did you guys expect? The Boss always blows up! Yes I wish he was in the Story Mode more but hell I wish Ferra/Torr is a playable Kharacter in the game and you fight them once in Story Mode. Sindel, Rain & Tanya got more love then them.

I don't get people complaining about Cassie taking out Shinnok. It was shown very clearly in Johnny's chapter that his power was the only reason he was able to beat him. Shinnok was so afraid of this happening again that he bound Cage so nothing could stop him. The problem is, he got stupid and tried the same damn thing on Cassie that he did Johnny "OK, I'm going to kill one of your loved ones, now. Hope it doesn't awaken your god-like power." Moron didn't learn a thing in 25 years.Âa If Cassie hadn't possessed her father's power, she'd have died. If Shinnok had just left Johnny there and fought Cassie, or just killed Johnny earlier, again, she dies. But he went all bad guy and couldn't help himself. It was set up very well, in my opinion.

Raiden's, Shang Tsung's and Quan Chi's spirits did battle and the DA's evil rubbed off on him.

Well he's not dead so there's that. Definitely had some of the best lines. The voice actor was superb. As for Raiden... I have no fucking clue. I just can't see the earthrealm defending another invasion and Raiden telling the gang to mount an offensive after successfully defending their realm and them doing it. Earthrealm just doesn't conquer other realms. And why is earthrealm so damn important to everyone anyway?
