Most likely break it. I hate to say it but there is something called over-hyping and if a game is as anticipated as MKX it usually disappoints :(.

If MKX or a MK fighting game in general disappoints MK fans, then those fans aren't really MK fans. Doesn't matter if the game is over-hyped or not. I enjoyed every MK Fighter thus far.

I own every mortal kombat game from MK1 to MK9 including spin-offs and movies aswell and yes I also have the shitty MK2 movie.

Hey ur both wrong. Im a mk fanboy, action figures, multiple copies of mkd, plus have owned almost every game.... Own both movies and soundtracks.... For a while i did kollect everything mk but stopped collecting bunch of basically crap.... Mk my #1 fav game series... Yeah im a hardcore mk fanboy..... However ive been dissappointed multiple times by mk games. First off mk4, mksf, and mkszm, basically the whole ps1/n64 era of mk i did not like. All three those games honestly kinda suck. I still like the lore of mk4 and mkszm while mksf is meaningless, but i remember trying those games and they turned me off.... Then mkda comes and i think great finally mk.getting good again, and overall it isnt all that bad of a game.... Main issue with mkda and mkd is the fight engine but everything else is pretty good in those games..... Anyways mkda originally made me very mad because liu kang is my #1 fav mk char so yeah..... I didnt buy mkda till year or so later after it released cuz of that... I guess it just took me time to get over it then with mkd they made up for it to me..... Moving on..... Mkd mainly let down that the engine didnt improve much.... They added combo breakers but thatts it, but overall mkd was a very good mk lore game and good fatalities and fun modes.... Just great game in almost every way..... Armageddon though is huge let down in my eyes. Kreate a fighter was decent but not great. Motor kombat sucks. Kreate fatality sucks. Konquest was even worse than mkd which imo is sad.... Plus lore wise gsme.is crap.... Honestly only good frok kka is some jostalgia with few things and every char being there.... Well even that is only half a good thing.... Mkvdc was stupid to me but i never cared for dc comics, but i hated it most for being there instead what i call a real mk game. Mkvsdc doesnt even really feel likr mk to me at all..... Mk9 ssimply best mk ever imo yet it still has disappointments about it.

All.in all my point is that you can be a hardcore loyal fan and be let down still by some stuff in the games or even not like a whole mk game at all and that doesnt make you less of a fan.....

No...no. I'm just implying about the fighting games (MK1-9). Don't add anything that I'm not talking about. MK Fighters strictly, no movies, no season series (Legacy), no adventures games or action figures or merchandise.

All people who like MK are fans. Just some want to push themselves into "Elite" status to elevate their own importance (complexes?) over others for some reason.

People who are purely loyal to the name instead of quality, are fanboys and their opinions worth nothing.

NRS is just trying to keep some of the mystery intact before the game comes out they have done the same for all the other MK games

The only party that is ever really to blame for overhyping a game is the fan community itself.

People here talk as though NRS is hyping up the game to impossible levels, while also complaining that not enough promotional material has been released yet. Which one is it?
The answer is that it is the fan community doing the hyping, not the limited promos we've seen. And so fans work themselves up into a frenzy of entitlement, declaring that this game had better prove worthwhile and live up to the hype, lest it break their commitment to buying future games.

NRS could essentially release a screenshot of characters we've seen already, with no new reveals, once a month until release, and the fans would do all the hyping for them. The absence of news is what gets the imaginations and impatience rolling.

So if you are disappointed and bitter about a magazine having no new character reveals or what-have-you, I'm going to tentatively say that I'm not aware that any such promises have been made to their readers.
Any expectations fans have of breaking news from magazines, expos, or anything else without word from NRS is solely their own disappointment to bear and not the fault of the devs.

We might also keep in mind that the game is still several months away from completion. They shoved Cassie out onto the stage before she had even put on her face, but they probably want to get their other characters close to finished before they start releasing material about them. With three variations per character to design and balance, it's a tall order. They have to put in at least twice the work to get someone ready for the spotlight.

Not really, we're not sheep. Being a fan could simply mean wanting it to succeed, doesn't mean you can't be disappointed.
