Only 5 characters from the trailer will be playable?

I dont think this is true.

We have Jacqui, Takeda, and Kung Jin for sure so that leave two spots.

So what about...

Erron Black will obviously be in.

Johnny and Sonya I thought for sure would be in. Sonya even had that SF picture. Plus Johnny is now Earthrealm's champion.

Li Mei seemed to have a prominent role in the trailer. I could see her being DLC, but why not main roster if they are gonna play her up in the trailer? She spoke a lot in the trailer.

Shinnok? I would be amazed if he wasnt playable. He has a cool new costume and everything.

I can see Baraka, Sindel, and Rain being NPCs and maybe DLC. But the others, i dont understand why they would build them up and then not have them playable.

He didn't say anything of the sort. He said 5 REVEALS and 5 characters were revealed: Takeda, Jacqui, Jin, Mileena and Shinnok. The rest weren't revealed; they were blink-and-you'll-miss-it.

Mileena is definitely playable, they've put too much effort in her outfit for her not to be.

If we're confirming five people today: Jacqui, Kung Jin and Takeda were all visible in gameplay. That's three for sure. Doesn't mean others we saw can't be, but...

Exactly. Erron Black, Rain, Sindel, Johnny Cage, and Baraka seemed like 2 second cameos in that clip rather than real reveals. While Li Mei was hinted to be a cameo by Ed Boon on twitter.

I think Takeda, Jacqui, Kung Jin, Mileena, and Shinnok will be playable but the rest are more likely NPC.

This is 100% true. Boon said 5 reveals and there were 5 reveals of characters we had not seen before. Mileena, Jacqui, Takeda, Kung Jin and Erron Black. Other characters like Sonya, Johnny, Rain, Shinnok ect. all have good to almost certain chances of being playable and were all there to throw people off as to who the five characters being announced were, which judging by the amount of confusion on and off this thread has worked.
