In another thread, I said something about American's sexual repression. I think that alarm is kinda going off for me right now because I don't think that we'll ever see a game that'll get an M rating that involves castration, people eating each other's intimate places etc and no toggle switch is going to change that.

Could you imagine some dumb parent buys this game for their 13 year old kid without doing research on it, the kid "miraculously" figured out how to turn on this mystical, rubix cube of a puzzle known as the "toggle switch" and then the parent walks in later to find their kid watching as Mileena is eating Kano's naked genetalia. You know, actually chewing on it while it's exposed, with the blood and innards etc.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe people that thought Elvis was offensive back in the 1950's couldn't even conceive of a group like Slayer existing. But even still, I can't imagine that ever being acceptable viewing content in a main stream video game.

Toggle switch or not, Wal-Mart is never carrying that game. Best Buy is never carrying that game. Gamestop probably wouldn't even carry that game. And if those big 3 retailers won't carry it, then that game won't get made. It's really that simple.

Why would you want to see a guy get a blade to his genitals? Or a woman for that matter? Castration? Again... Why would you want to see this in a video game? Why would you want to see it at all?

My desire for sexual content/nudity depends on whether the devs would make it solely for the male fans or not.

They have done little to make the male chars provocative up to this point, so I'd prefer they keep the sexual content restricted just to be on the safe side.

The last thing I want in MK is some bullshit demeaning material, like in God of War or Grand Theft Auto.

Basically, I just think it's a bad idea. It could be part of someone's bio or ending or whatever, but as part of the gameplay... no.

That's not the kind of treatment the series needs to make a successful comeback anyway.

realistically i think there are limits to put such themes in game play but i could see some fatalities like the one from MK:A that sadistic left the link to of the shish ka bob or even the tearing of clothes to reveal topless or at least half topless characters idea. i don't see anything wrong with it really and the toggle would be nice for anything in the game because than the player can customize its playability to ones liking. if things like rape and castration were to be in the game in any form it should be done through text of story or even only suggested that it happened through visuals. meaning that the actual sex act not be shown but the outcome is...for instance if a girl character was raped than show her curled up naked in a dark corner crying or something. the actual showing of the act would be considered as an AO rating. in other games the actual sex acts where not shown in full and if some of the acts were shown there was no nudity(Dragon Age:Origins for example). in GTA4 the prostitutes and dancers did not show nudity and truthfully i think that they could have shown more...at the least topless girls. its realistic for a gentlemens club to see topless dancers so why not?
point is...the issue of sex in games will be pushed sooner or later why not let MK be the one to do it? not to mention sex does sell. like i said though...there are some limits and i would not suggest crossing the line because the esrb will slap an AO on it and it is clear that the MK team wants to push the M yes but not cross the line.
on and off toggle options should be a thing of the future for gaming in my opinion. truthfully the more freedom of choice in games we have the more we can adapt to playing them without complaints.

Either way your idea will never happen, because even with an off option the game would still be rated AO and that would be video game suicide if they went in that direction.
